List is a complete joke if it wasn't before with Peyton Manning even ranked(he didn't play last year), Heater that high, and Cam Newton ahead of Stafford

I think Ryan gets a rough rap for the 0-3 playoff record. His first playoff game, he was a rookie. He had a couple of turnovers, but they played the Cardinals close. If Keith Brooking doesn't inexplicably bite on a playaction on 3rd and long they could have gotten the ball back with a chance to win.

Against the Packers they were actually up early in that game, but the defense completely collapsed. Can't lay that game totally on Ryan when the defense doesn't even force a punt.

The third one -- yeah, that was ugly. He looked like he sh** the bed in that one, but the offense as a whole looked lifeless, and the o-line problems they'd been trying to cover up all season really got exposed against the Giants' pass rush.

Personally, I have just never liked the paradigm of attaching win/loss solely to the quarterback because there are so many other impact players on a team that have to perform. I mean, would you trade Ryan for Tebow? Tebow is looked at as a winner and has one more playoff win than Ryan.

Conversely, Peyton Manning also lost his first 3 playoff games and lost them in as ugly as fashion as Ryan: 16-19 vs. Titans; 17-23 vs. Dolphins; 0-41 vs Dolphins. He had a 31.2 QB rating in the last one and only threw 1 TD pass to 2 picks in all three contests. Only broke 200 yards passing in one of those games and his highest completion percentage out of those games was 53.1%. The other two is was 45.2%.

Would he have been left out of the Top 100 at any point during that stretch? I don't know. He most certainly was a Top 100 at that point in his career. I have a hard time seeing him left off, but I don't know.

I'm with wharton on this one; lists in general are problematic because of the variables that have to be taken into account with a performance. And there's no real way to measure that.

A little self criticism - McFadden ahead of McGahee who played great last year and was just as much as part of Denver winning the division if not more than Tebow, Sproles who had a great year, Fred Jackson who was just as dynamic before getting hurt as McFadden was, is a bit much. That's just looking at RBs, I'm sure others at other positions are more deserving as well. As much as I love DMC he doesn't belong on this list due to missing over 1/2 the season and not being durable.

Hey I agree when it comes to Matt Ryan . Hell every team he lost to in the playoff either made the superbowl or won it so at least he lost to the best team each year.

That said, he's been great in the regular season so far an really needs to carry it into the playoff next season. With Julio being the beast that he is, it should really open things up deep for him while Roddy does what he does every year and Gonzo working the middle.

Is Michael Turner on this list. He's one of the best runners in the league imo. He may not be a complete back but as a runner he is a stud.

Same with Sean Weatherspoon. If Cam Newton is on the list based off one season the Sean needs to be there. He was a dominating LB last year.

I've done one better than that - I've watched all of the episodes last year and so far this year. While I don't necessarily always agree with where players get ranked, it is interesting to learn how current active NFL players view their peers. Also considering that players also disagree with several of the rankings I don't think it's all fluff with no substance. The fact of the matter that almost any list based totally on opinions is going to be highly subjective and open for debate. Despite the odd head scratcher (i.e. Tim Tebow in the top 100, Joe Thomas at 82, Wilfork at 81 etc) overall I think the players have done a pretty good job.

Nice try; you focus on a handful of picks you disagree with and then trash the entire list - which makes almost no sense because no matter who made a top 100 list there would be picks you would disagree with. Therefore you'd probably hate any list compiled by almost anyone if it didn't match yours. This obviously leads to the question of what would your top 100 look like and why? I suspect you haven't watched the series, so you're likely not aware of how actual NFL players evaluate their peers, but I'd be curious to learn what criteria you would use.

You are aware that the players picks were based on who they would pick to be on their team in 2012 and NOT based on their 2011 performance or career accomplishments? Therefore, based on that criteria picking McFadden over those other HBs is a legit option.

Sure, but I can probably say that about almost list containing 100 picks. Heck, I'm pretty certain I'd find issues with any top 100 you came up with and vise versa. Regardless, despite some debatable picks, I'm enjoying seeing how NFL players evaluate their peers. After all, who better to evaluate another players ability than someone who actually lines up across from them and competes against them?

After rereading our conversation over, I think you have a problem with my semantics and/or hyperbole. Which isn't really worth discussing.

I honestly dont care about how other people's lists look unless they have a glaring (like Devin Hester as the number 48th best player in the NFL glaring) problem or make an effort to discredit a good player. Oh and I've seen every episode of this year's list and last year's list but go on; please continue Peter.
