Not an elite level player for a long enough period of time. THat stands out when you look at the all time rushing leaders and guys like Thomas Jones & Clinton Portis are ahead of him.

The ONLY possible knock is he only played for 10 seasons. But, that means he averaged an insane 205 tackles per year! Call me biased as a Bronco fan, but Gradishar shoulda been in long ago.

Yeah, I agree. Pretty damn good RB, but he ran behind an amazingly stout line. He avoided contact... Not saying that's a bad thing - but depending on the direction of the rain fall in Seattle, a drop might knock him down. And even avoiding all of that contact, he was still done by 30.

On 3rd and 2, you just never felt that confident in him picking up the tough yards.

His numbers are better than what he was, I think... Very good back, but never elite, nor HoF worthy.

Throwing a name out here:

Corey Dillon

He was a beast of a runner, and played on some awful Bengals teams with little to no help around him. I mean, he was basically getting 1200 yards a year for the first six years of his career, with guys like John Kitna and Akili Smith as his QB. He had a solid RT in Willie Anderson to run behind, but other than that defenses could just key on him, and he still produced. At one point he even held the record for most yards rushing in a game.

Then in 2004 at the age of 30 he rips off 1600 yards for Super Bowl champs New England, before fading away like most RBs do at that age.

Not really saying he deserves HOF consideration, but what if he had played on a decent team early on? As it stands now he ranks 17th in career rushing yards with 11,241. On a good team he probably could have gained another 1000 yards at least, which would push him closer to top ten total rushing yards, and probably a few playoff appearances to help the cause. Maybe still not enough, but he's a guy that certainly got hurt by being in Cincy all those years.

Where did you pull his stats from? Pro football reference and NFL.com didn't have tackles listed and had a different number of TDs listed as well. I thought that was an insane amount of tackles having only 14 games a season back then.

Darelle Revis. I know the whole Revis island thing and him being the best shut down corner for awhile. But I can't really see how he's had a HOF career, while my friend mentions him along Ed Reed and Polamolu and ahead of Charles Woodson.

I feel like if Revis can show that his pit stop in Tampa was just a blip on the radar than yes he's probably a HOFer just because he's been such an impact player and actively has to be planned against (especially in his time with NYJ) in a league where everything is tilted toward offense. That being said he's not in Woodson's class.

He still has five years or so left in him, so judging him now isn't exactly fair.

If he stays healthy then I can easily see him having a few more All-Pro years.

If he keeps up this pace, I don't see how he's not. Especially when you adjust his performance for era. I haven't looked but I'd guess that most current HOF CBs played in a time when you could head hunt, mug WRs down the field and there was no QB protection. Revis still thrives despite having none of those advantages.

In general, we (rightfully) view present day offensive accomplishments with a grain of salt because of how the rules have changed but you don't really see us give the same "bump" to present day defenders. I don't know how these guys play CB with the way the game is called today.

I kind of agree with you TODAY. But if he were retired tomorrow, I still think he gets in now that he has a ring. I personally don't think he deserves it right now, but don't see any way he doesn't earn that spot by just doing what he's been doing for another 3 or so years.

He is definitely safely behind Ed, Troy and Charles though.

Eddie George has better career numbers than Lynch across the board (save for about ten less rushing TDs) and he's never going to sniff the Hall of Fame, so no. Plus, the media doesn't like Lynch at all so the voters aren't going to go out of their way to put him in.
