also, i'm back in town. moved back last july, i thought you knew.
Better based on what though? Numbers? Curtis Martin had better numbers than Bettis and a lot of other running backs, but no way was Curtis Martin better than guys like Thurman Thomas or Eric Dickerson both of whom had lesser stats, and I honestly would pick Bettis over Martin pretty much every time.

I watched Bettis play a lot and there is plenty of highlight reel for him. How much is there for a guy like Martin who was essentially the RB equivalent of watching grass grow? To me, guys like Martin perfectly illustrate why stats aren't the most important thing when evaluating greatness.

I don't get why people are acting like the guy was Lynn Swann and only in the HOF because he was a media darling. Bettis produced and had plenty of memorable moments even when his physical abilities had clearly diminished. In fact, most of his best moments happened when he was over-the-hill and that to me speaks a lot to a players greatness when he can still make things happen with a lot less in the tank.

Now, he could have a couple of good seasons with the Colts and change that, but as of now I say no.

Honestly, I love Andre Johnson but I don't even think it's close. It's already hard for WRs to get in and he's had zero post season success (barely any appearances), and years of pitiful TD counts. We can argue why these two things may be the case considering we know how talented he is, but those arguments mean nothing when considering for the HOF.

Andre Johnson is a beast, always been, lost a step but dude is still nice. He just played in the wrong era (too many WRs with big numbers) and with a team that usually sucks on offense so hes usually their best player.

i don't think it's necessarily numbers that have to be the only criteria unto which a hall of famer should be measured. i think numbers is a huge reason why anyone could justify putting jerome bettis or curtis martin in, actually, neither of whom i feel had any stretches of note where they tore the league up or were considered amongst the 2 or 3 best at their craft.

love andre to death, been my favorite wide receiver since espn nfl2k5, but he won't make the hall. he's worthy as a player, but the resume won't stack up versus the others who still aren't in yet.

the hall hasn't admitted marvin harrison, easily one of the ten best to play the position. andre won't make it.

Marvin will make it within at least the next 2 years, even with how ridiculous and almost childish the process is.

I'll toss a name out there, Jerry Kramer. Named to the all decade team of the 60's, multiple time all pro, made th key block on one of the most iconic plays in NFL history, in one of the most memorable games ever. How Kramer is not in the HOF is laughable to me. He is easily one of the top 5 guards in NFL history.

Andre Johnson didn't have the luxury of playing with a complete offense with Peyton Manning throwing him the football, he had a lot of bums throwing to him, and yet, he still put up big numbers, and that's even taking into account how often he was injured. What would his numbers look like had he played his entire career with a consistent, solid QB? TJ Yates? Ryan Fitzpatrick? Case Keenum? Matt Leinart? David Carr? Dave Ragone? Rex Grossman? A washed up Jake Delhomme? Tom Savage? Ryan Mallett? Sage Rosenfels? TONY BANKS? All garbage and/or inexperienced. Matt Schaub who was only good for like a second? And he STILL put up numbers like he did? How was that even possible?!?!?!?!?

Plus, he was a bully beater. He knocked Cortland Finnegan out, a known bullying jerk around the NFL, even the NFL was behind him on that one since they didn't even fine him handing out that beating! That alone deserves a nod

Kramer clearly should be in the hall. Even when you watch old Packers film all you seen was him manhandling people, lol. If I'm not mistaken, it was either the HOF or the NFL that named him one of the best lineman of all-time or something to that effect, and yet somehow he doesn't get into the hall?

I think he p'd off the wrong person/people and they're waiting for him to die first before they let him in.

Andre Johnson won't get in, which is sad because it's even clear to the ghost of Ray Charles that he's one of the best wide receivers of all-time.

If Andre Reed got in, I think Andre Johnson is a lock, especially with th piss poor QB play he's had to endure. If he played his whole career with an Aaron Rodgers or Peyton Manning, he would have put up rediculous numbers.

It took Reed 8 years so lets not act like hrs a measuring stick to getting in.

The Hall doesn't care who you played with. The Hall doesn't care about injuries. The Hall cares about stats.

There's a log jam at receiver and unless that changes by the time he's eligible, it'll take him a long time to get in.

There's only two receivers I expect to go in first ballot and that's Owens and Moss.

No way Owens gets in 1st ballot, he's made far too many enemies for that to happen, not to mention his reputation as a team killer and a "Me first" player.
