Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
I love the "I was the victim of a hoax" statement both ND and Teo put out. He talks about talking with her on the phone, visiting her, etc. etc.
Come on man.Comment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
“They were with me,” Te’o told ESPN after an upset of Michigan State that came days after Te’o's grandmother died and his girlfriend actually didn’t. “I couldn’t do it without them, I couldn’t do it without the support of my family and my girlfriend’s family. I’m so grateful for all the love and the support that all the fans both from Michigan State and Notre Dame and fans around the world for just supporting me and my family and my girlfriend’s family. I miss them. I miss them. But I know that I’ll see them again one day.”
The ONLY way that's possible, is if he was simply too embarrassed to admit he, a high-profile college athlete, was in a committed relationship with someone he had never met or even Skyped with... so he made up the meetings to avoid that truth.
I'm betting it was all a publicity stunt that went too far, though.Comment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
This was the most telling, to me:
Either Tuiasasopo got a lot of people "in" on this incredible hoax, to pose as her different family members, or... more likely... Te'o was in on it the whole time. Also the account of "how they met" after a Stanford game as well. I'd be very surprised to find he was actually the victim.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
Thankfully this all comes out now so that the Raiders didn't make the mistake of taking this guy #3. Coincidence that the guy who helped perpetuate the fraud's cousin used to play for the Raiders (Marques Tuiasosopo).Comment

Okay, I know I quoted this already, but how the hell did I miss the opportunity for this:
Spoiler
And I'm done with that.
Speaking of Te'o though, how in the hell did Kiper have him at 8 as of earlier today? (Don't answer that with the obvious, "he's Kiper" answer that I know is coming)Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
Reagan Mauia, an Arizona Cardinals fullback, said he believes Kekua existed because he met her in person when he and other Polynesian teammates and Pittsburgh Steelers star Troy Polamalu went to do charity work in American Samoa in June 2011.
"This was before her and Manti," Mauia said Wednesday evening. "I don't think Manti was even in the picture, but she and I became good friends. We would talk off and on, just checking up on each other kind of thing. I am close to her family. When she was going through the loss of her father, I was -- I offered a comforting shoulder and just someone to bounce her emotions off. That was just from meeting her in Samoa."
Mauia said Tuiasosopo -- whom Mauia believes is Kekua's cousin -- introduced the two. After the initial meeting, Mauia said he met her at an "after-party" for all of the athletes involved in the camp.
"She was tall," he said. "Volleyball-type of physique. She was athletic, tall, beautiful. Long hair. Polynesian. She looked like a model ... "

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
That's why I thought the Russell Wilson talk before the draft was hilarious.
"He's not going to be good, he'll be a bust.... BECAUSE OF HIS HEIGHT."
Just because it's happened before doesn't mean it's going to happen with every player. Plus, anyone who watched college football knew that he played behind the biggest line in college football whenever he spent his last year of eligibility at Wisconsin and he did just what he did at NC State.
People seem to forgot.. most "busts" have terrible work ethic or get injured very early on.
Matt Barkley has great work ethic.
Are we really going to try and compare him to Sanchez and Leinart? They both did it for the money, period. Once they got paid, they were made.
Barkley wants to win more then he wants the money, and I think that's pretty obvious that he would have been the #1 overall pick last year but decided to return because he felt they had a chance to win the National Championship.Comment

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Discussion
So how's Te'o's actual game?
Never watched him play but would always hear and read things talking him up like he was AJ Hawk reincarnated?
Only reason I'm asking because if he can play the position, then I don't think all this mess about him will affect his Draft status THAT much. I mean we've had players get arrested and kicked off teams and still wound up going pretty high because they had talent and could play.#RespectTheCultureComment
