I wasn't bragging, I was stating I live a life I enjoy and don't envy anyone or begrudge their success.

And your callous, non-chalant and insensitive response to CTE, the players it affects and their loved ones (which you obviously haven't taken into account) is the issue.
Not backpedaling at all, just explaining that it's not really about money but that does play a factor, just not in the jealous way in which it was ascribed in another persons post.

It is your opinion I'm callous, that is your right. I just look at it as it is what it is. They are grown men who make their life decisions.

It reminds me of the stupidity around smoking..omg you mean if I smoke I might get lung cancer?? WHAT?? Of course these guys know they can get head trauma!!!!

Now maybe, just maybe guys who played in the 70's or 80's, a little more sympathy there perhaps but anyone playing now knows damned well what they are signing up for. That's why some guys have even simply retired for it.

So don't come at me like I'm being unsympathetic, those guys are getting their rewards and taking that chance, that is on them 100% and anyone that doesn't like it can always retire and do like the rest of us and go to work where we make every day man money.

But in general no I do not ever want to see anyone get hurt, but it is what it is and I would hope those guys really know going in that it's a high possibility...even more so now that these studies are out and it's plain and clear what it likely will do to you if you play football..
The bold parts.......that's basically a visual example of someone backpedaling.

You can claim all you want you aren't jealous, but you continually brining up their fame and fortune in post after post tells everyone else otherwise.

And once again, you're ignoring the fact that these "grown men" are still humans, with loved ones who probably see these studies and don't think, "Oh well, it is what it is". The loved ones who these athletes are taking the best possible route in order to provide and create a future for them.

Wouldn't you take the best possible route to provide for you and yours and to be able to live in that big, fancy house of yours?

          Yeah, I thought so.

We spend hours fretting about athletes and their working conditions and what they deserve for their effort...

...imagine if we fretted so about real laborers?

                Re: Aaron Hernandez Saga

Oxygen (of all networks) put together a pretty good 2 part series about Odin Lloyd's murder, the trial, and pretty much everything else around this event.

Watching part 2 now, which focuses on the trial, and Hernandez's background. Part one was some more of Hernandez's background leading up to Lloyd's murder up to the arrest of Hernandez.

It's not the best documentary I've ever seen, but it's a pretty good watch. Lots of interviews including Brandon Spikes (Hernandez's best friend with the Pats apparently), the police involved, reporters that covered it, Hernandez's defense attorney, and Hernandez's fiancé.

Man there's a lot of stuff in this that I either didn't know or completely forgot about. Just a crazy set of events.

I tried to watch it, but apparently I cut Oxygen off my channels list when I reduced my DirecTV bill by $5. Darn.

Interesting that they are using his sexuality and his possible double life as a reason to have killed Odin Lloyd. Didn't follow the trial that closely did they present this at trial or during the sentencing phase?

I don't think the prosecution actually ended up using it in the trial.

I thought the focus of the cross-examination in the double homicide trial if the prosecution's witness was really weird. From the documentary, they made it seem like Hernandez's defense team focused on semantics of what the witness said and it actually worked.
