Character doesn't win games. Character keeps you from tanking your career though (look at Gordon and what this latest weed issue might cost him $$$ wise come contract time).. BUT Gordon was still probably the best WR not named Calvin Johnson last year.

Character doesn't mean you're going to be great in the NFL... look at Tebow. He could bulldoze a church and probably still go to heaven... yet I don't remember seeing him suit up last NFL season.

I'm agreeing with you. His off-field issues will plague him for his career. He's thinking about the next children's hospital to visit to brighten a sick kid's day instead of where the safety is going to be in relation to his TE after his 5 step drop. It's terrible.

But character doesn't lose games either. This argument is ridiculous...so because AJ isn't a "Man", he is a bust. But Johnny who is a "Man" (the ultimate determinant of success apparently) who cares about his self image/Hollywood, he's a bust as well.

Manziel is too hollywood, too much edge

McCarron is too little hollywood, not enough edge

That's why Peyton and Brady are so great. It's nothing they do on the field.. they've managed to find the perfect balance of Hollywood/edge and not Hollywood/edge.

Hey I'm not an NFL personell expert but I just saw the QB kid from VT get drafted ahead of him... No one's knocking AJ and all the nice things he does off the field. I'm just telling you what some analysts were saying today about him and what some of his teammates REALLY thought about him.. and they brought up his reality show..and they brought up how he might not have the intensity at the pro level. I'm not the one making the picks.. but he's still waiting for that phone call form someone. So you tell me why he's still falling? I mean he's such a great kid! Thats like90% of what you need to make it in the NFL right?

Look I'm not trolling.. Im just saying if AJ just had Mazeile's intensity... and Manzeil had more of AJ's humility, Johnny probably wouldnt have fallen to 22, and AJ probably would have already been drafted by now.

In a bit off WTF?!? There are a couple of Xbox 360 controllers on the table in the Carolina Panthers war room.

I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

AJ could have been drafted there, but he chose not to go to Virginia Tech.
