Way late but WTH was with the uproar about AJ McCarron? Reading through all that crap and I just kept thinking, why the hell is he even a topic? He wasn't "dropping" in the draft, nobody ever thought he was that good to begin with.

I know it was entertaining, and a lot of the back and forth was just in good fun. I'm just surprised nobody just said "bc he sucks" and that would've been that.

I was long gone in the thread but from what i've read and heard it seemed like McCarron actually DID drop. A lot of teams liked his talent and what he could bring but he kept talking about how he was going to have a reality TV show and that scared off a lot of organizations.

I don't know if all this is legit or a bunch of rationalizing but that's the story we're getting.

For me, I never thought he was all that good and wasn't surprised by his "fall". What started that whole debate was the comments as to why he was "falling". Saying he's too nice, isn't a winner, and this "Hollywood blend" crap that didn't matter. The ridiculousness in this thread was at an all time high. The one thing that dropped McCarron was his on the field talent, not his "lack of Hollywood attitude" or being an "all American Apple pie boy" or whatever was being said

So IMO the debate wasn't so much about McCarron as it was the Hollywood comments

Yeah, that's my point though. And I'm not criticizing any of you that were in the debate, the entire thing is just baffling to me. Why did his name come up in the first place? Tebow, Manzel and... McCarron? WTF? I don't think anyone ever thought he projected as an NFL starter... ever. I don't get why the "other stuff" rationale even came up. I thought it was common knowledge that he was an average QB on the field.

If I'm remembering right, it actually started with the Kevin Norwood pick. And all the "experts" on TV talking about how shocking it was that Norwood went before McCarron. Then the other stuff came up, then Manziel was offered up out of the blue, then ESPN was brought up, and finally I brought up Tebow in jest of ESPN.

I think we're on the same page wwharton, after 1 or 2 serious responses from the group, we went full blown sarcasm because we all knew (I'd imagine) that McCarron is nothing more than an average guy on the field. And his fall wasn't shocking at all, he should be a 4th-5th round guy. Very average QB

Unfortunately, that was the one point that wasn't pushed hard enough.

                        actually that worked against him

The reason he dropped was that teams may like his talent, but don't see it getting any better. He is at his peak now. Other guys taken in the later rounds have some upside if they improve with good coaching.

On NFLN they were saying he came off as very arrogant maybe not the best leader.

Yeah his whining about playing through injuries probably isn't helping with that.

You fell go prove them wrong on the field.

It's hard to do that if you're on a team that already has a 'franchise QB.'.

You may be in a better situation on a team like that than being thrown into the fire on a ****ty team.
