That could easily happen. Clowney isn't the sure #1 overall pick we labeled him last year. I think even with a somewhat dissapoimting season (he only had 3 sacks, but was getting double teamed on several plays) he is still by far the most talented player In this years class. The studly QB class and the many teams hat need a new signal caller could cause Clowney to fall out of the top 5, but I don't see him going lower than I have him. A lot of teams that need a pass rusher could trade up and snag him--I've heard the rams are listening to offers for the #2 overall pick they got from Washington

Drafting McCarron at 8 would be an even bigger reach then when we drafted Ponder at 12 and I would probably lay down in the middle of the street until someone didn't see me and ran me over.--
Have you ever wanted to coach or play basketball at the next level, but something prevented you from achieving that dream? Fret no more. Ask me about SimWorld Hoops to see how you can create your virtual self, and follow your path from the prep-level to the pros.

I definitely understand that. I don't think that's gonna happen, it just makes (a little) sense to me. I think part of the reason that some QBs haven't worked out right for Minnesota is having AP. why not take a game manager? Aj definitely has flaws, enough for him to go as low as the 4th round, but he's a proven winner. Maybe it would be a better pick to take an o-lineman or d-end and wait to take an AJ McCarron or a David Fales in the 2nd roundChicago Cubs

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
I'd be ecstatic if the Lions draft Dennard or Dix at the 10 spot. Alas, this is the Lions, and it seems drafting for need gets pushed back to the later rounds all the time.
But in all seriousness back 7 help especially at the corner spot needs to be a priority followed by a number 2 receiver. It also depends on who the next coach is as well...
I think Dix is a reach at 10, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Lions were fine with Delmas and Quin. I would say that Kalil Mack, Dennard, and the WRs are on the shortlist for the 10th pick.Comment

At this point we all know how it is. They will take the best player on their list there.

A lot of Oregon offensive players usually don't translate well in the NFL.
Maybe a Punt/Kick returner but that's it, just like LaMichael James.Comment

Meh hes an Oregon skill position player. Scheme is their best friend. He needs to be lucky in where he lands.Last edited by kingkilla56; 01-06-2014, 01:07 AM.Comment

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread
One of the sites I frequent for Panther news, one of the guys there was talking about how Thomas may transition to WR...he's not any smaller than Desean Jackson, but he certainly won't be able to be an every down back.
So he could go to a team who can afford to have patience to develop him as a WR and maybe throw in some wrinkles for him out of the backfield, sort of like a poor man's Percy Harvin.
That same person wanted Thomas for the Panthers, but I don't think the Panthers need another small WR, they need some size (especially if they let Lafell, who is a solid if unspectacular third receiving option behind Steve Smith and TE Greg Olsen, walk in free agency). Jordan Matthews, Kelvin Benjamin, Donte Moncrief, Brandon Coleman, etc...
