I personally disagree he is handling it well, but I agree he is in a no-win situation. This is what he had to do though, face the music. Just wish he would be held accountable for his mistakes. He said he gets to keep his job because he admitted he made a mistake, so if any of these players admit they made a mistake, they should be let back in the league right?

He still has no answer to the questions about his credibility. He completely dodged the Rachel Nichols question re: Sean Payton and accountability. I don't see how he can be involved in any supplemental discipline going forward. How can he be trusted to fairly judge others when he himself is not being held accountable.

Really? No one asked about the blatant lying about the rice tape from the league office. This whole thing seem like a dog and pony show. No one in the press gonna ask anything tough and risk losing access.

Idk, I mean they asked him point blank how he is escaping any accountability on this and he just dodged it. They are in a tough spot, they have to maintain a decent relationship with Goodell and the league for the future but they also want to be tough at the same time. I've seen a lot softer questions tossed around in interviews.

Edit: LOL Benji from the Howard Stern show just crashed the press conference.

                  1. They are let back into the league after they've served their respective punishments as long as teams are interested in signing them. Ex: Michael Vick

                  2. He didn't say he gets to keep his job because he admitted he made a mistake. He said that he is not worrying about whether or not he can keep his job, but that he believes that he should keep his job because he's acknowledged that they've made mistakes and then listed what they're doing about it. It's not really up to him whether or not he keeps his job anyways. It's up to the NFL owners. If they are content with the way that he is responding to the initial mistake, then that is good enough for him to keep his job.

Dude what? You have a guy who is one of the faces of the league accused of beating kids, and another guy who was arguably the face of his team caught on tape hitting his wife.

The incidents themselves may not be more frequent but the names involved combined w more arrests seemingly coming every week is why this had been a perfect **** storm for the NFL, and Goodell hasn't helped matters either.

Sure, but he isn't facing any type of formal punishment for his mistakes like the players are. I know you can't really suspend the commish, but if I was an owner I'd want his resignation.

But you can't hold it against the commissioner if the owners don't feel that a resignation is the correct punishment.

It does however sound like he is likely giving up some of his power in these situations as a result of the mistakes that he's made.

That's fair, hopefully he's forced to give up some of his $$$ as well since he is theoretically doing less work.

Why? As long as he's not costing you money or your team money(which if you're an Owner, that's the only thing you're concerned about first and foremost)then there's no need to suspend him or ask him to step down.

lol, what does it matter to any of us if he only makes $35m next year instead of $40m+.

When the NFL gets through this (and it will), has more support than ever and ratings are even higher he'll probably get another raise if anything... despite the witchhunts.

Anywho it'll be interesting to see if the Goodell really does try to make amends but again, dodging responsibility when he himself ruled that ignorance isn't a defense regarding bountygate is a clear contradiction that he'll never live down IMO.

In case anyone missed it here's the interruption. (hopefully the video doesn't get taken down)
