I don’t know if introducing an unvaccinated backup QB room is the smartest. Never mind one with the cachet of Cam Newton. That’s a lot of baggage. Some his own doing, some not.

Either way I wish him well. Hoped it had worked out in NE.

Yeah, the vaccination status adds an extra wrinkle to this.

I agree that Cam Newton will always have people enamored with his physical gifts and will always want to see him get another chance to turn it around. Just his presence will have people writing stories about him. I hope outside noise that he doesn’t invite don’t prevent him from continuing his career.

I thought he had been very forthcoming about his own performance and the Pats drafting Jones. It feels like people want him to act petulant so they can feel good about their own preconceived notions, which is pathetic. That’s got to be tough to be honest about your own play and ability when you’ve always been the man. I’m rooting for him.

And Dallas does seem like it could be a good fit. What about the Jets? I had never heard of their backups before this morning. I know the plan is to start Wilson, but that could get ugly quick due to the cast around him, especially on the OL.

There would appear to be a market for his services, as long as the expectations are clear.

As long as we skip the whole weird "QB X is signed to a team, I can't believe Cam isn't! He''s clearly more talented" conversation.

I don't understand how that's a weird question depending on what circumstance it is.

The only difference when Fields is on the field is so far he’s shown he’s athletically gifted enough to sometimes overcome the bad positions Nagy puts him in
Bingo. And Nagys inability to adjust and adapt is his worst attribute. He over complicates everything. It’s maddening plus he clearly has no feel for the QB position as a HC.

It's weird because we know what backup QBs are, and their role isn't as simple as being the 2nd most talented QB that the team can possibly sign. And teams will for sure not sign a guy if they think his baggage/presence outweighs whatever benefit he offers.

Carolina should've never released him in the first place

So the Lions released both kickers on their roster.

Dan Campbell going for it every 4th down?

Cam would look awesome in Chicago mentoring Fields. Oh 2ait, we signed and guaranteed a starting QB to Dalton. For real lol. Dude just release or figure out how to get rid of the dude and accept a real future here. Why duck around with this when given such a gift in this draft?

Welp, never mind. They signed the most accurate kicker in NCAA history (who admittedly had a rough start to his pro career).

Turns out it’s just a roster trick involving when guys are placed on IR (before or after 53 man roster is finalized) that Belichick pulled a whole year ago. I know Campbell was panned for his funny introductory press conference, so everyone made a lot of jokes, but it’s a shrewd move. It wasn’t just no-nothing fans that joked on the move either, it was real football analysts. No one wanted to give him or GM Brad Holmes credit for finding any little crease they can to build the best roster. I hope they get the last laugh. Detroit looks to be in better hands already.

The Bills cut all but two tight ends (Knox and Sweeney), including Jacob Hollister.

They now have Knox (wildly inconsistent), Sweeney (about 120 game reps total, missed most of last year with COVID effects), and Reggie Gilliam (a 6 ft tall HBack with about 80 career snaps) as their entire "TE" depth chart, and Sweeney is already questionable for Week 1. That might be one of the thinnest position groups in the NFL. I guess we'll have to roll out one of our rookie tackles out there when we need some actual power.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.
