    2022 Offseason Thread

Been saying the whole process has been a joke for YEARS and that they needed to get rid of it.

Good that this came out but my original feelings still haven’t changed.

Is anyone actually shocked or are media outlets just putting the phrase "shocking allegations in lawsuit"

I think he's gone too, but interviewing on (the 2nd) NSD isn't an indicator. Michigan isn't expected to make any noise today and the whole staff is off and away from the facilities this week.

Ross supposedly game fixing is a pretty shocking allegation. Like, the kind that could get him ejected from the league if true.

So I was thinking, how do you hire Flores without making sure he's on board with the tanking strategy? And then he tells you he doesn't want to tamper and you go over his head and bring on a player to force Flores to tamper. Like, I'm guessing there is plenty of would-be hires that would be on board with a tanking strategy and "bending" the rules on tampering.

Who ever hired Flores didn't do its due diligence and assumed Flores would play ball.

Maybe they didn't thought that the team was going to be that bad and after that awful start they decided "might as well get the 1st pick while we're at it" :P

Someone needs to get a hold of Greg Williams and find out how much he was paid for that all out blitz call vs the Raiders in 2020

I wanna know how and why Bill Belichick is so deep in the Giants business that he knows Daboll has been hired at the time he sends that text.

I mean, I understand that someone told him (maybe even Daboll) but I'd love to know who just because I love it when people run their mouths about things that are supposed to be confidential and then get burned. And to think that it was a 70-year-old trying to operate a cell phone that caused all of this is so hilarious.

It reminds me of stuff like this and I love it.

I'm not making light of a serious situation, I just love seeing loud mouths get theirs.

As for the actual situation at hand, the Rooney Rule only works when the hiring party is open to all candidates. In general, they probably aren't. Someone asked recently why Eric Bieniemy gets HC interviews but doesn't get the job. To me it's obvious. The team who interviews him gets to check a box and say they interviewed a guy they felt was qualified. They also can claim they had a good reason (his past legal issues) to not hire him.

                    Rooney Rule Satisfied [emoji736]️

As for what the solution to fixing that problem is. I don't have one. I don't know how to force potential employers to interview and take seriously any candidate. Either they will or they won't.

Is anyone really surprised by this? I always said the Rooney Rule was merely window dressing. Teams are generally going to hire coaches they think are best for their team, then fill out their required racial interview quota.

I don't know what the answer is.

The Bills bring in ex-Panthers OC Joe Brady as QB coach. If we lose Dorsey to an HC job it sets him up as the next OC presumably. Is that good? Undetermined.

I, for one, though the Panthers->Bills pipeline would finally let off now that McDermott's guys have left the building but nope.

Kimberly Diemert, who is the executive director of the Hue Jackson Foundation, which works to prevent human trafficking, claimed the Browns made a similar offer to Jackson when he was the head coach in Cleveland, tweeting that "we have records that will help" Flores' case.

Diemert said in a phone interview with ESPN that their proof is "well documented" and previously had been "presented to the league." Diemert declined to say how much money was discussed.

Unless he was so bad of a coach that he refused to tank and still went 1-31 over two seasons, Hue is potentially getting himself in legal trouble by admitting that

As we continue to get our arms around the far-reaching implications of the landmark lawsuit filed against the NFL and multiple teams on Tuesday by former Dolphins coach Brian Flores, it's possible that some wrists will end up encased in handcuffs.

Whether something is shocking is different from how serious of an allegation it is.

Okay, he can get ejected from the league. But I cannot say that I am surprised that a team/owner intentionally wanted to tank. So no matter how serious it is I haven't heard anyone say they are surprised that there are tanking allegations
