Thank god!!! Now no excuse to be a terrible ST team.
He'll have his work cut out for him. The only thing he has going for him is his punter. You want free speech?
Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours.Comment

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
I do like that Smith is getting another chance. But, Texans still come off of as dysfunctional. You go from saying Flores and McCown were the finalists to Smith being promoted to HC within a day without getting an interview prior to the day. Feels like they knew of the public backlash of hiring McCown. They should have either hired him last year instead of Culley or at least interview Smith in the first rounds of interviews. I do like the idea of Pep Hamilton being promoted to OC, that would be a good stepping stone to him eventually getting a chance at HC. But, all this makes it seem that Culley was the issue.
"#Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy’s contract is expiring, per sources.
So after getting passed over for head coaching opportunities again, Bieniemy could either return to Kansas City or be a hot free-agent OC target elsewhere."
I don't see him leaving. Especially with Kafka leaving. Kafka would have been the likely OC if/when Bieniemy leaves. But for him, he might need to be in a situation where he needs to have more control of playcalling and offense in general elsewhere if he wants to be a HC.Last edited by illwill10; 02-07-2022, 06:52 PM.Comment

When he doesn't get chosen for head coaching roles the common themes are his past hurts (don't buy it), he doesn't call the plays (fair and TBC), and he doesn't interview well (if true, fair, but none of us has an idea how true that is).
If he can go to a team where he is allowed to call plays and has success, he can make it harder for teams to ignore the past history (BS), and maybe get
past a bad interview.Comment

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
I feel like if he had any intention of leaving, he’d have left by now. I know technically his contract hasn’t expired yet but that would be unfortunate if he wanted to leave and KC is making him wait for his contract to expire after the Super Bowl while all the OC spots fill upComment

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
Andy Reid called the plays. But Eric would call in the plays directly to the QB. That didn't affect guys like Pederson or Nagy. But, I remember hearing that there were times in games where he would allow Pederson to call plays.
Assuming the new offensive coaches will call plays, I think he might end up staying put. Pep Hamilton got promoted to OC in Houston. Likely Dennis Allen let Pete Carmichael call plays in NO. So unless there is still an opening for OC that I'm missing, I think he stays.Comment

(He could have been given permission to leave for the same position for another team by the Chiefs but I don't honestly know if that's ever even been requested.)
Reid has always called the plays as far as I know. It's one of the things always called out when he hasn't gotten jobs. (Because Mahomes and Reid's calls make the offense)Comment

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
My comments are more like Hue was going to pick up the ball from Flores and run with it: "Flores may not prove it, but I (Hue) got the goods!" But now he is already saying he wasn't offered money. Disappointment more than anything.
Now he is saying:
Lets see what distinction he is trying to make between "intending to lose" and tanking.
"Soooo you accepted money to lose games on purpose as a coach?"
"...I didn't say that"
Even though that is exactly what his tweet said.Comment

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
If Chiefs let him walk (no problem then doing that personally, wish him the best) at the very least he'll some an offensive assistant gig somewhere.
A new set of coaches could really help this Chiefs offense. Have to wonder how long Reid is going to keep this going himself, at 63.
After typing that I looked up coach ages... wow.
Carrol, 70
Arians, 69
Belichick, 69
Feel like I would have guessed 10 years younger for these guys.
Unrelated, Pro Bowl was a fun experience in person. Would have passed out on the couch at home if I tried to watch it there, but as my ~8th event at Allegiant this season it's a fun time being around all the different fans and enjoying the food and other stuff at the facility. I really liked the 'kickoff' rule, and at the very least we get some chances to play with alternative rules in Madden like that one day
Looking forward to the draft stuff, looks like it will be quite the spectacle and hopefully the pandemic is on it's last legs by that point allowing for as many as want to to partake.

I don't see Andy reaching the same age though. Feel like he could call it quits around 67.Comment

That would be quite the fall off compared to where he was for the last few years.#RespectTheCultureComment

Not even been retired a week and Brady is already cracking the door open for a comeback.
Come on Tom, don’t be like Favre.

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
I was interested in that too, and what I found amusing is that both teams were crazy aggressive at first with the 4th and 15 onside kick variant. I think they tried it like 9 times in the first half and converted none of them (even with PRO BOWL defense!), and yet when the NFC scored to bring it within 6 at the end of the game - that's when they elected to give the ball up and let the AFC run it out. lolBills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.Comment
