Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
Only other question marks are Panthers and Houston. I think Houston should Culley another year. The expectations were already low and had the Watson distraction all year. Only reason to fire him would be if the culture was bad or a candidate they really want is available and could reasonably obtain. Panthers on the other hand, don't know. I really wanted Rhule to have success. I get Joe Brady was a hot name, but I didn't like going the college route with the coordinators. You can say he didn't have the QB. I get the idea of giving Darnold the 5th year option right away in case he shows he's the guy. But, they were still going after Watson hard at the time. Darnold isn't the guy and you're locked into another year. Part of me wants to give him another year, but it's an uphill battle. Defense has building blocks. The issue is offense with finding a QB, hoping CMC can stay healthy, and fixing that OL.Comment

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
No reason for Houston to fire Culley. Bad team was bad, but probably better then expected considering Watson drama and losing their backup-turned-starter Tyrod Taylor for a good chunk of the year and having to play a mid round rookie QB. Plus, they stripped the roster of even more talent in-season.
Only way I see that changing is if they really want Flores (with the GM ties together in NE), but Flores just got out of a power struggle with a GM. Seems pretty clear Caserio wants to and does call the shots there.
Most of these teams seem like they’re in for a long rebuild for one reason or another. Only appealing jobs I see to step in and have success are MIA and DEN, but after Flores being shown the door so quickly I would be hesitant to go there.
Who are the hottest candidates? Bienemy, Harbaugh, do people still want Brian Daboll after the up & down offensive season the Bills had? Looking forward to seeing who lands where. Honestly, finding a GM for a lot of these openings will be key because of the work and decisions that need to be made in places like NY, CHI, MIN.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

I mean, Denver and Miami have the rosters to be frisky, but you're walking into two of the tougher divisions in the NFL right now [Also Miami doesn't have its 1st]. If it were me, I'd be thinking the Post-Rodgers NFC North is much more manageable. Depending on how you feel about Fields, the Bears job might be the best available.Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.Comment

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
I think it’s actually a pretty good group of openings, there just isn’t a perfect situation out there like when Green Bay opened up a few years ago. The Giants and Jacksonville scare me the most. The Giants have the least amount oftalent but they’ve got two top ten picks, and Baalke in Jacksonville may scare off some potential coaches. The other four non playoff teams aren’t perfect but I think they all have something to work with. The Raiders would be the most attractive but they may just keep their interim coach
After looking at cap situations, I wouldn’t go anywhere near the Giants. Minnesota has a bad cap situation too but if you can deal with Cousins for one year he’s off the booksLast edited by reyes the roof; 01-12-2022, 05:42 PM.Comment

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
It's ashame because everyone knew he was a Bridge Coach when he was hired. Where he would have had to overachieve to get a second year. At least, he is still owed 17 million after this year. Andy Reid or Harbaugh will likely hire him back this offseason.
Unless they can feel Flores or Jerrod Mayo can convince Watson to stay(if he clears), they will still be expected to be bad next year as well. So might as well have stuck with Culley for another year. He mentioned how Caserio micromanaged him throughout year. What coach is going to want that, especially how short Culley's leash was. Any difference, would show that they didn't trust him and didn't have long term plans.Comment

Miami and Denver? Sign me up.
Jacksonville and Chicago it depends on your feelings on their QBs. If you're big on them its a very desirable job. Otherwise not so much.
I'm low key hoping one of the Ravens coordinators land a HC gig cause I think it would be to our benefit to have some new people inComment

If I have my choice between Houston and another job I’d take the other job, but if it’s my only offer I’ll gladly coach for a year and collect $20 million for the year when they fire meComment

If I'm a head coach candidate I would want no part of the Houston job. If they contacted me I would reply with a "thats crazy, good luck though"

Denver definitely if they can trade for a QB. Miami almost falls into the same Category as Chicago or Jags because you have to be sold on Tua.
Vikings is a sneaky good job. Cousins is an above average QB, and only has 1 year left if you aren't sold on him. Skill players on offense. Still talented defense, though the stars are getting older. And depending on what happens with Rodgers, that division could be wide open post-Rodgers time.Comment

They Raiders haven’t officially let him go, but they’re putting in interview requests for GM candidates so it looks like they’re moving on from MayockComment
