At this point, I'd rather take my chances in the draft than to give up the required draft assets AND pay them a huge extension. Especially for a team like the Eagles. I get it when it was for someone like Calvin Ridley before the suspension or a vet like Robinson. But they are 2 years away from paying Smith that kind of money. For the Eagles, I feel they need a true X receiver that doesn't need a high volume of targets since Smith and Godert are volume receivers. I rather take my chances on a WR in the first round for the 3rd straight season, than trade for and extend another young WR. I would like to take a chance on George Pickens. Don't think he makes it to pick 51, but if they could trade down from #18 to the mid to late 20s, I would take him even though there's a lot of WR-needy teams in the 20s-30s.
I'm also all for trading Jalen Reagor for almost anything. It's time to move on. I still think he has upside, but probably not there. They had to force feed him manufactured touches and he struggled. Mainly because he felt he could outrun defenders. He doesn't have the elite speed or tackle breaking ability or vision for those looks.
