    Re: 2022 Offseason Thread

So that leaves New York Giants, Miami, Houston, Las Vegas, Minnesota, and New Orleans as the remaining HC positions, right?

This feels like a lot of movement for one offseason, maybe I'm just mis-remembering.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

Bears should just stick with Defensive Coach hires anyway. Felt like they’ve had their “better” years with one of those anyway.

Jaguars as well. It feels like it's definitely Leftwich, but seems like they can't agree on contract structure, so they are still interviewing guys. The two other finalists were Hackett and Eberflus, so it should leave Leftwich. But now they said they brought in Fangio on Monday for an interview

"Hearing the Jaguars are close to hiring Adrian Wilson as their GM and Byron Leftwich as HC."

Things getting interesting in Jacksonville. Leftwhich supposedly said he won’t take the job unless Baalke is out

Which made the Adrian Wilson report makes sense and why they are still looking at guys like Fangio

"One thing I’ve been told to watch whenever Dolphins officially hire their new coach — they want to keep most of their defensive assistant coaching staff. They feel they are close on that side of the ball and have spoke with candidates about that."

So a new coach will have to be on board with Tua as the QB and keeping the defensive assistant coaches as well. So it's likely they'll hire an OC

Uh, then why not elevate one of those defensive staffers? It seems like a horrendous job if you are stuck with a QB AND a defensive staff with more job security than you AND a GM above.

This seems like a job for a David Culley sacrificial lamb hire.

Exactly. Obviously no DC would want that job if they can't even choose their own defensive staff.

I think the 3 finalists are Kellen Moore, Brian Daboll, and Mike McDaniel. If I'm all 3, I'd rather stay where I'm at than to take that Dolphins job

I imagine Mike McCarthy gets fired after next season, and then Jerry rolls out the red carpet for Sean Payton.

"Raiders requested today a head coach interview with Patriots' offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, per league source. McDaniels now expected to interview with the Raiders.
Raiders already have interviewed New England personnel executive Dave Ziegler, putting a Patriots pairing in play in Las Vegas."

10 years in and teams still fall for the McDaniels Scam.

I was never high on him as a HC candidate. I just feel he falls in the "young bright offensive mind" category. Maybe he could be a college HC, but he doesn't have "it" to be a NFL HC.

I saw the term Lead Coach instead of Head Coach and I agree with it. I do think it applies to a lot of coaches where they are more of the "Lead" Coach and not the Head Coach.

Sounds like a perfect hire for Jerrah when McCarthy is terminated.
