Re: Week 1 Discussion Thread
Basketball and baseball have excellent overtime setups but both college and pro football overtimes are crap. In my opinion, by the very nature of the sport there just isn't a good way to play overtime. I wouldn't be opposed to having a 5th quarter pick up play starting off just like when the 3rd quarter changes over to the 4th or the 1st quarter to the 2nd. Then play a full 8 minutes, no ''sudden death''.
Baseball does *not* have an excellent overtime setup.
But yeah, I'm all for just starting with 8 minutes left. Whatever works. But it's the fairest and the best way to decide a football game. And then if you want a tie, whatever and then in the playoffs it's the same way but there's no tie. Simple and sensible.Last edited by TheMatrix31; 09-09-2024, 11:59 PM.Comment

I like regular season-overtime. Score a TD and win. Kick a FG, the other team gets a chance. Wish they had left it that way for the playoffs.
Would be fine with college OT if they moved the ball back to the 40 and did away with the alternating 2-point conversions starting with the third overtime.Last edited by LowerWolf; 09-10-2024, 12:43 AM.Comment
