2014 OS "Who To Start" Thread

I need help filling four spots on my roster for the week. I have one player going tonight.

RB2: Asiata or Montee Ball

FLEX: Victor Cruz, or Kelvin Benjamin, or Brandin Cooks, or either Ball or Asiata depending on who gets the nod at RB2.

TE: Heath Miller or Greg Olsen.

QB: Nick Foles or Joe Flacco

Keenan Allen vs. NYJ

Vincent Jackson @ NO
Roddy White @ NYG

I need to pick two...or three if I want to play at FLEX over Ellington..unlikely.

I like Allen and Cruz. At home. Both putting up big weeks recently. Two bad defenses. Jackson is a wildcard. Glennon likes him. The Saints defense is bad too. But it's a road game... I just traded for White, as I think he has a chance to return to form, but I don't need to play him this week.

Also, with Zack Ertz putting up two bad games, I'm considering streaming a TE the rest the way.

Jason Witten vs. HOU

Miller put up a huge game this week in a loss. The Jaguars have worst TE fantasy defense so far...but this could be a route, and then could just run in the 2nd half. Witten hasn't shown much but the Cowboys have been scoring a lot lately and you know the Texans will be scheming to stop the run. Ertz seems like boom/bust.

I think you're right with Cruz and Allen, but I think all 4 will have decent games. I'd go with Miller at TE for sure... and he should have good match ups going forward this season.

Asiata or McKinnon just for this week @GB? I have both, but I'm not sure which to play.

Asiata. McKinnon's day will come but I think it's still the Asiata show.

Unsure about my FLEX spot again: Go with Steve Smith @ Indy or Frank Gore vs. KC?

Gore, definitely for me.

Guys, please list who players are going against. Yes, we probably all know the match ups but you want us to compare players it makes it easier when we see the match ups right in front of us.

RB: Asiata

TE: I like Miller this week

QB: Foles at home

FLEX: I think I'd go with Cruz but any of those choices should work out, including going RB

My starting RB's are Forte and Morris, but they're pretty much a lock.

I think I'd start Wayne over Royal. He'll get more targets and the Ravens secondary isn't horrible but isn't anything worth bragging about either. They're better than the Jets but if it's close, I'll take a #1 (or 1b) WR over a #3.

RB: Most likely Montee Ball and Jeremy Hill
WR: Cruz and Keenan Allen
TE: Julius Thomas

Flex: I'm going Travis Kelce right now but I'm undecided.

Bench: Trent Richardson, Andre Williams, Knile Davis, Torrey Smith, Kenny Stills, Brandon LaFell, Allen Robinson and Marvin Jones.

Thoughts on my RB and flex situation?

Well I have a tough choice in my two QB league. Carson Palmer is ruled out so my two Qbs are Kaepernick and Bortles. The second QB slot is also a flex, so I could play both Delanie Walker and Rob Gronkowski and bench a QB. Who to start/sit between Kap, Bortles, Walker and Gronk?

If that's a PPR league I'd go with Andrew Hawkings, he's been targeted the most on that team and the Titans pass defense is awful. Non PPR I'd stick in Taliaferro.

As a general rule of thumb, is it OK to start a defense who's going up against someone else you're starting?

For instance, I am starting the Bears' defense who are going up against the Panthers. I am also starting Greg Olsen. Is this a no-no?
