Yes it's time to look for DTs. And I guess I'm the odd man out on McGhee because I worry that Moreno will still be careless with the ball or get injured and McGhee will have to be an every down back. But if Moreno stays healthy and they split the time in the backfield this could be a great signing.

As for Orton I posted this a month or two ago but Tebow has a head on his shoulders and is and has always been about a team game. It would not hurt Tebows confidence to sit another year and play in just wildcat packages. If you want a chance to win now I'd say play Orton. Remember this is a new team with John Fox at the helm. Playing Orton now and giving Tebow a year means he can learn the new scheme. But I am kind of torn in that comment for the simple reason Fox likes to focus on the run so Tebow wouldn't be relied on all that much. But still would rather have Orton start now and Tebow watch a year.

And who knows Orton has a pro bowl season and could be even bigger trade bait next year.

Orton's roster bonus just kicked in, $1.5 million. He's not going anywhere. The ONLY problem I have with Orton is his inability to perform when being pressured by the defense. So long as Orton has time, he's a very good QB. But if the defense brings pressure, he'll buckle. He was never the kind of QB that could run a pass-oriented offense. He NEEDS that running game, and I think Coach Fox will give it to him.

McGahee will certainly help push Moreno, but I don't expect McGahee to be anything more than another Buckhalter. Which is fine, because Moreno isn't a 30-carry back. And while some may point criticism at Moreno, I firmly believe he was doomed as a RB under McDaniel's watch anyways. When a RB is dodging defenders in the backfield on a consistent basis, only Barry Sanders is going to make something happen.

I'm excited about our defense, and I think Coach Fox will inject stability in our offense. Orton will lead that team so long as the running game gets moving. Tebow? Well, my avatar should say something, but Aaron Rodgers sat for 3 years and it didn't seem to hurt him one bit.

Why is that? They haven't done anything different other than change the defensive scheme every year. Most of the guys now have a PHD in schemes from all of the changes.

          1: Dumervil is healthy
2: Putting Robert Ayers back in his natural position of DE. He should've never been a linebacker.
3: You'll have DJ Williams behind Dumervil, Von Miller behind Ayers. Joe Mays is a fine linebacker to fill up the middle.

With Dumervil drawing the attention of the other team, guys like Miller or Ayers should be able to help get decent pressure. Our secondary was never really an issue. Even the best secondary cannot survive if a QB has all day to throw the ball. Someone WILL get open.

Even if we don't bring in some big DT (and it looks like we won't), so long as the guys in the middle play adequate gap control, then we won't have to worry about linemen quickly getting upfield and getting a hat on DJ and Co. I'll be the first to attempt that I'm an optimist, but I think that if things go right, we could have a very good defense for years to come.

I don't want to quote Bronco above for a simple question but you said Orton needs time. Any word on resigning Ryan Harris?

I don't think the team has the money to offer what Ryan Harris is looking for.

The only thing I saw about him on Rotoworld was his interest in joining Shanahan over in Washington.

Well, John Clayton reported on Twitter:

For what it's worth, the Broncos had a $6.555 M re-allocation of cap dollars that gives them a cap of $126.93 M.
So, it's possible they have the space, but I think the organization is concerned about Ryan Harris. Honestly, I think he really hurt himself last year when he rushed back from injury. And from that point, he was never the same.

Also, did you guys happen to see the picture of Orlando Franklin?

Dear lord, he looks like he's going to eat defensive linemen! And I mean literally eat them. XD 6'6" and 316 lbs. Yikes. And reports say he has the speed to play guard.

You know there's an issue when no teams are apparently pursuing him and he's only 25/26. Wonder what kind of money he thinks he's worth.

Obviously too much. Any word if Cullen Jenkins is even an option right now for the Broncos?

Mebane was re-signed by Seattle, so that's another option gone for Denver. Ryan McBean signed his tender. IMO, it's tough to look back at the last two years and really judge our defensive tackles. The 3-4 never really worked, and none of them were really suited to be any kind of nose tackle. Guys like Marcus Thomas aren't suited for the 3-4.

                          2010: 154.6 per game/4.7 avg (31st)
                          2009: 128.7 per game/4.5 avg (26th)
                          2008: 146.1 per game/5.0 avg (27th)
                          2007: 142.6 per game/4.6 avg (30th)
                          2006: 113.3 per game/4.1 avg (12th)

You have to go back to 2004, 2005 and 2006 when they finished above mid pack for run defense. They simply aren't a good defensive line.

Step 1: Keep a system in place for more than a year
Step 2: No one knows because Step 1 hasn't happened in years.

Ty Warren is having a visit with the Broncos today. Pretty much the only real news for free agency but thats expected with their cap

This is exactly what I think they should do... and it looks like they will now. I think Fox will run the perfect offense for Tebow but Orton's best suited for a run first offense also, as he had plenty of success with it in Chicago.

As far as Orton's issues with pressure, we all know he's not Peyton Manning and the team's only going to be as good as it's going to be. Since the options are Orton and Tebow (won't even mention Quinn at this point but this holds true for him too), pressure's going to be an issue no matter what. But things going as planned, Orton is the best option at this point.

Was going to say they get their best defensive player back but it was already mentioned. Also, Fox has excelled at building a quality defense and overall scheme focused on running and good defense. I could see them being closer to 2009 than last year.

I'm all for the defense being better, I'm just negative and dont see another veteran line fixing the woes. I suppose it could change now since the defense knows they have a coach who is on their side of the ball instead of years past

The thing with Orton now, he's always going to be a better player in practice than Tebow. Tebow at game time will be a different player so the team needs to figure out a way to judge the competition so its not tipped in favor for someone.

Reading some camp posts on the official Denver Broncos forum, Moreno is being outplayed already by the new guys.
