Lynch was only on the roster for 2 years and had 4 starts and 5 appearances.

Lock is in his 3rd year and has 17 starts. I don't think the two are very comparable.

Lynch never looked good. Lock has at least shown moments... Though he's basically a poor man's Kirk Cousins at this point.

      Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

I found this to be a reasonable and informative article on The Ringer: https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2021/8...ock-vic-fangio

Of those three legs, Bridgewater embodies the QB who will avoid turnover-worthy mistakes, even if it means taking an extra sack or two. And that willingness to get hit rather than throw an incompletion has kept his yards-per-attempt number around the league average throughout his career.

Lock, on the other hand, has been damn good at avoiding sacks, but sits at the bottom of the league in both interception rate and yards per attempt. In 2020, he tied for the second-highest turnover-worthy play rate in the NFL, according to PFF, and he threw his fair share of incompletions—his 57.3 percent completion rate ranked dead last among qualified starters. But Lock does give the Broncos something that Bridgewater can’t: big-play ability.

The trade-off the Broncos are making is clear: They’re turning down Lock’s volatility in favor of Bridgewater’s steady-if-maddeningly-conservative approach. And when looking at the 21-team sample above, that seems like the right decision.

Why not! I mean the kool-aid that was served in the preseason that Teddy B would be the game manager needed that would allow the dominant D to do their thing hasn't played out. Bottom-line, it hasn't played out that way for all sorts of reasons, the season is lost, and maybe playing Lock will ensure they don't screw around and win a few more games to secure a nice high teens pick in the draft (currently sitting #14).

While I am ranting, this organization is and will continue to suffer because it hasn't successfully addressed the QB issue since Manning. It's easy to point out the obvious missed opportunities in the draft, but it has to be priority #1 moving forward. The 2022 draft doesn't have that sure thing prospect, so some creativity is going to be needed.

I still have hope that this team can be good someday; always true blue and orange.

Yeah, it doesn't really matter who the QB on this team is anymore. Lock or Bridgewater, we'll still be a frustrating team to watch that will underperform. The injuries have certainly hurt us, but I agree that something seems wrong with the way this team operates.

Things have been going South ever since Bowlen got dementia. If you look at the 30 years under him, the team was stable and effective. Ever since he's been gone, it's been the worst stretch in 40 years. Stability comes from the top down and until Denver gets a good and stable owner, this team will only end up succeeding "by accident" instead of with a plan.

The defense was fun to watch today and Javonte Williams continues to be wonderful.

I can't imagine wanting to see Drew Lock play again after today. Teddy is not the long term answer, but he provides competence, which is better than what Drew offers. The problem is, I'm just not sure what our path is to a good QB.

As much of a Lock defender that I've been, I can't handle that play. Even as it was developing I was saying to myself that even Lock wouldn't be stupid enough to do anything other than throw it away.

I wanted him to start this year and all excuses aside, I'll take the L on that at this point. I'm not a huge fan of Teddy either but he is the lesser of two evils at this point.

Today was essentially a playoff game and they looked great but it's important to remember they're coming off a bye so we need to take it with a grain of salt. Next week will be when we learn if they are contenders or not.

Yeah, agreed. This very much looked like a team that was preparing an extra week against a familiar foe. I don't have much hope for next week.

That defense played yesterday in the way the season was to unfold which would allow Teddy B. to manage the game.

Teddy is serviceable at best but I am still miffed at what QB that can be pursued; a subject that could be further debated.

Despite this victory, I still don't have much confidence in this squad, even though they have the tools for December football. But dadgummit, this team has so much talent so why aren't they better than mediocre! (please not the ! and not the ?).

It hurt doesn't it! There is no way to counter-argue this either, good grief.

For grins and giggles, go up a few posts that were made exactly this time last year. We were talking about the exact same thing but with a journeyman QB.

I could imagine that the Walton/Penner ownership group is discussing how this organization needs gutted and rebuilt. We have witnessed the same results since '15. Something drastic is needed to make a change.

Take it for what it's worth coming from a 54 year fan of the team.

Gotta bring in another coach to be 100% sure Russ is wasted. If he is, fire Paton.

Yeah, Paton has to be a tad nervous.

There is no way of dumping Wilson nor trading him, so do what it takes to support him. The one fact to give a little bit of hope is that the offense could just improve slightly and this teams would be in the thick of it with that defense.

I get what Paton was doing, lock him down before a potential bounce back year where he could demand more. They should have played him in the preseason, the red flags would have been there. What irks me is that they allowed Russ to have his own office. Like WTF? He should be down with the other guys, and if he is, what's the office for?

Broncos are in better shape than most teams like the packers, Browns etc. Their qb cap hits are HUGE.

Sure, Seattle will get a top 5 pick, but who's to say they don't swing and miss?
