In my opinion, way too much is being made over Hillman gaining 100+ yards last week. I'm tired of hearing about it.

The dude is just too small to be the featured back. This reminds me of back when Shanny thought Quentin Griffin could do it. He's almost the exact same guy.

I'm not going to say he is too small, but I do agree that I'm not really impressed with his 100+ game and don't see him getting close. Since preseason I have been a huge fan on Thompson. I love the way he runs downhill and always seems to fall forward.

Hillman is fine when he is basically untouched, but he is too small when it comes to just running between the tackles. He was continually stuffed in the fourth quarter when Denver was trying to chew the clock and NY knew they were going to run. Plus, he still fumbles. I thought for sure when he put the ball on the ground last game that was going to be it and Thompson would finally get his shot.

I agree with you, Aggies7..... Thompson is the guy. Elway and Fox need to let go of the fact that they drafted Hillman as high as he did and he may not be the answer. As long as Thompson doesn't fumble and put himself in the doghouse, I am hoping he will be the starting running back in an few weeks.

On the other side of the ball, I've been impressed with Roby. I didn't think he could cover AND play the ball, but he's done a really nice job as a rookie.

I love Hillman. Great speed, and a great WR. Probably shouldn't be a feature back, but he's got great speed and elusiveness.

And I wonder how much longer we hold on o Colquitt. He's 18th in average yards per punt this season

Huh? Average means nothing. That just shows that the offense is moving the ball downfield before punting a majority of the time.

He's second in the league in punts inside the 20 and has ZERO touchbacks. That's incredible.

My issue isn't so much with Hillman, it's more how Denver uses him sometimes. Having Manning under center and trying to run the ball with Hillman doesn't work - especially when the defense is looking for it. Running the offense out of the shotgun or pistol while spreading the defense out because they also have to respect both the pass and the run works better with Hillman, IMO. They did a lot of that on Thursday. Keep giving the ball to Thompson on short yardage / goal line situations.

I've been impressed with how hard Hillman is running, but I'd still like to see Thompson get more carries.

What happened to this thread? It used to be one of the most active team threads on this forum…nothing since October?

                Anyway, thoughts/feelings on Kubiak?

Once again I am crushed by Terrell Davis being overlooked again for the Hall of Fame. I know I am rather subjective with my assessment of his worthiness; but I think achieved as much or more in his shorter career than many that are in the hall.

The one player I always compare TD to is Gale Sayers. Nearly identical stats and years of service.

Very disappointed too because I don't get to go to Canton this August. We always go to the HOF induction when a Bronco is voted in.

It never really recovered from the Super Bowl loss last year.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Kubiak but see it as nothing but a lateral hire.

With Manning as a QB I've always wondered why anyone would want an offensive guy at the HC position as Manning is the OC/coach on the field. I thought Fox was a good fit as a defensive guy…hopefully we see Kubiak impact the game from a decision making perspective in that he may not be as conservative as Fox.

OL, preferably C, in the first or second round would be great. Biggest weakness on the team right now, IMO

Can't go wrong with OL. I would still love to see a stud inside backer chosen early too.

I just have the feeling that there will be movement either up or down. It won't surprise me to see some of those picks packaged together to move up for somebody Elway has an eye on, or trade down and get even more.

I would love to be a fly on the wall in whatever room Elway is in for the next few weeks...that football is being discussed, I may clarify, lol.

OL for sure, even though I'm sure Elway will be looking closely at which inside LBs are available.

IMO, however, I think they'll focus on either RT or the guards more than C. We've got three options at center, even though none of them are really appealing (Gradkowski is pretty bad according to Ravens fans, Ramirez is passable but only that, and Paradis is a late round pick that's completely unproven), but our options are just as bad at RT with Vasquez moving back inside. We're left with Schofield, who's a 3rd rounder but needs to prove he's worth his pick, and Cornick, who really isn't capable of being anything more than a backup. At the guards, we've got a stud in Vasquez and a starting caliber player in Shelley Smith, but we've got nothing behind them. Ben Garland will probably stick around on the roster, but he's not a guy you want playing extended snaps.

If there's one thing that we can be sure about, it's that Elway has a LOT to think about. Trade up, down, or stay put? Go O-line or linebacker? I don't envy him right now.

                                So.

I have no problem admitting when I am wrong.

Over the last couple years I wrote about how much I disliked the choice to draft Brock Osweiler. I blasted Elway for it pretty harshly.

Do two games define a career? No.

Does the kid look good? Yeah, the kid looks great IMO.

He's a decent athlete, he is deceptively smooth on the play fake, and he can sling it. I mean he throws heat. Dis he miss on a couple throws today? Yeah he was a little off target a few times. Does he take big sacks? Yeah, he has a couple times so far. Did he make some next level "big boy throws" in the fourth quarter and on to help us beat the patriots? Yeah, he sure as heck did. He's also won me over with his cool and collected demeanor, his comradery with his teammates, and his classy interview responses. Top notch, so far.

Unless he has a total meltdown, I don't see how you can go back to Peyton after seeing what a strong arm qb can do with our offense. I'm sorry, Peyton is a legend, sure, but I've seen that story 3x already. I've seen Manning against Baltimore. I've seen Manning against the Seahawks. I've seen Manning against the Colts. I've seen the smartest quarterback of all time get beat by smart defenses because he just can't throw the ball anymore. I don't want to see it again. I want the kid with the cannon.

Unless Brock goes Ryan Leaf on us, I don't see how you go back to Manning this year, and I'm sorry but there is no next year. No way you pay manning 17 mill next year.
