Reading some camp posts on the official Denver Broncos forum, Moreno is being outplayed already by the new guys.
Eh, I dunno. I was at the morning camp, and Moreno looked fine. From what I saw, the "success" of the other backs was due to defensive breakdowns more than the running back making a great play. On one play, Moreno broke a legit home run.

The one player that really impressed me, however, was QB Adam Weber. He throws a gorgeous spiral, and was accurate. He looked confident when he got his reps. Matthew Willis looked good as well. I was also happy to see Eddie Royal make some plays.

      Training Camp day 3
      Training Camp w/ my Son
Went to training camp today. It was already pretty toasty, and my two year old son was prety toasted, so I ended up missing parts of the 11 on 11. First some general notes.

      1) Eric Decker is going to be bank this year.
      2) Ball and White look better then Moreno.
      3) Lack of OTA's has really hurt Tebow.
      4) It's open season on balls thrown by Orton.
      5) Quinn looks good, but he is not going down the field, which is where he was really off last year.
      6) Champ looked awesome.
      7) Last year there was a sea of number 15 jerseys. this year it's still the most popular, but now it is followed closely by number 7. There was not a single number 8 jersey in the crowd (and I really really looked). There wasn't a Brady jersey either, but if he keeps it up, there might soon be.

Every drop was from behind center, and every pass was short (get used to it Denver folks). It's the exact set of circumstances that is very bad for Tebow. He struggled with it last year, and it's still a issue. The problem is not his arm - he had great velocity on the 1 on 1 drills where he started. It's more footwork. He needs to find his groove and go with it. He was maddeningly inconsistent. The three best passes of camp were Tebows including a absolutely gorgeous TD pass on man coverage to Decker. That play looked exactly like some of the Farve to Harvin passes we saw a few years ago.

There is a real issue between Tebow and Royal. Royal was pretty meh for everyone, but there were two very catchable balls that Royal completely missed on. The first of the two was right in front of me. I'm begining to suspect that Eddie has a horse in the QB race, and it ain't 15. I've heard nothing but good things about Eddie, but it sure looked like he was pulling a Marshall. Maybe it is that Tebow likes vertical receivers, but one way or another they need to fix it.

Brady looked the best of the quarterbacks. I rode him hard last year, and the difference has been night and day to this year. He has confidence, and was adapting well to his receivers. However, the accuracy issue that bedeviled him was not the passes he was making today, but down the field. There was pretty much zero calls for that with him. Brady earned additional reps he got (although 104.3 has it wrong, Tebow was running second in drills, and splitting second with Brady in 11 on 11s) ad honestly does have a shot of challenging Orton or Tebow.

Orton's passes looked decent, but he was getting picked off left and right. Champ has looked fantastic in camp. He was doing press man coverage on Royal and owning 19 all day long. 84 gave him a battle every-time however.

It's only the third practice so far. Tebow needs to nail his footwork down, and Orton needs to be able to throw to someone other then 84. Tebow and Orton both need to step it up, or Brady will be starting the season.

Boy do I disagree with some of that. Brady looked subpar to me, with several picks, throws behind the back, etc. He was running the third squad for a reason, IMO. Orton was by far the best quarterback out there, and I'd say Weber was throwing better than Brady. Orton had a pick or two, but nothing big. Don't forget, coaches don't really allow them to throw the ball away in these drills.

Decker will be money, that I agree with. He looked sharp, ran great routes, and never quit on the ball. That thing about Royal and Tebow? I don't agree with that. That sounds like someone trying to make something up. Royal had a drop, but so did Lloyd.

Honestly, Tebow looked like he should look. He looked like a second year player who will benefit from more reps. I'll say this: that throw to Decker in the endzone was gorgeous, and it was right in front of me. To me, Tebow is still finding a groove. And yes, he would've benefitted from more OTAs. But to be worried is folly.

To make a call that Brady has a shot of starting is silly, IMO. I'd expect to see him cut, and Weber added as the 3rd QB. Obviously, I'm no scout, but that's just the feeling I personally had.

          @Broncos 86

Since you've been to camp, how did Mario Fannin look? I haven't heard any reports on him. Is there a chance he could be a dark horse this year...coming out of nowhere? I like his size and it sounds like he has the speed to go with it. I'm anxious to see him in preseason.

I didn't really notice Fanin. Lance Ball and Knowshon Moreno were the two RBs that stood out.

              Today's activity:

Signed two TEs, signed McGahee officially. Two TE sets anyone? XD The one thing I really noticed about the offense is a ton of pre-snap shifts. I'm talking two guys shifting around constantly, with Orton calling "shift!" So I think we're going to see a lot of power formation, two TE sets. To me, that's exciting.

I won't be shocked if Richard Quinn and Dan Gronkowski are cut. There's no way we're going to carry six TEs, and we're sure not going to cut the guys we just signed (FA and rookie alike), unless Quinn or Gronkowski are converted to FB.

With Renaldo Hill cut, Rahim Moore should be poised to start.

We've also re-signed Marcus Thomas. I like this. I think Thomas has been solid.

Just heard report Broncos receive Brodrick Bunkley from Philadelphia for an undisclosed pick in 2013.

From what I am hearing Bunkley refused to report to Cleveland which voided trade on Saturday and today was traded to the Broncos.

Broncos look ready to re-sign Ryan Harris:

Looks like Harris tested the market and found no interest.

Can someone please open an investigation into where the Eagles got all there money from all of a sudden?

Interesting article at the Denver Post, facts I really wasn't fully aware of.

The tl;dr: Brady Quinn was lied to by Josh McDaniels and was never given fair reps in training camp. He was left to either throw the ball on his own, or try to run the scout team. The result: stunted growth within the system.

Makes me think I was a bit too hard on Quinn.

Another reason I am glad McD is gone.

I'd still rather have Hillis. Can you imagine Tebow and Hillis on the same team? Talk about fan favorites...

To be fair, when Quinn was acquired, that was the plan so I won't hold this against McDaniels. It's not like he was trying to woo in a free agent with false promises.

The nature of football is that your position is never safe, a team could always bring someone in that's better than you.

There are a lot of things I hold against McDaniels but this isn't one of them and I don't see it as lying.
