    Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

Denver CAN win this game. It ALL depends on the offensive line. If they can establish the running game, Denver has a chance. The Packer defense has been porous through the air. If Denver runs the ball well, it'll keep Aaron Rodgers on the bench. If you give the Denver defense a bit of scoreboard support and time to rest on the bench, I believe the Denver defense can beat the Packers.

If the offensive line can't push the line of scrimmage, then Raji is going to be unleashed on Kyle Orton, who will become panicked and force bad throws. The offense will sputter and ask the Denver defense to come up big too often. They'll play well early, but get gassed later on and the Aaron Rodgers Show will take over.

Lloyd and Decker can be BIG playmakers for Orton.

Frustrating of course, but gotta be patient. If they make a change after a loss in GB, it'll likely be for other reasons than Orton not playing well.
From a casual observer Orton may appear to be a serviceable quarterback. But to say that we need to be patient is ludicrous. Bronco fans have been patient for over 2 years.

Name me another quarterback who is starting right now that has lost as many games as Orton and is still with the same team? And don't tell me that he hasn't had a defense or a running game.

At what point do we stop being patient and finally say that Orton can't make the plays and we need to go another direction? Another 2+ years!?! Orton plays just well enough not to win you games, which to me is the definition of a back-up qb, which he is.

Take your rationale hat off because its not working.

      GO BRONCOS!
      GO (away) ORTON!

I like your optimism, 86, but it's going to be tough. I used to have faith that Denver would win every game. I know that's unrealistic, but that's how I always felt. I've lost that over that last year. My faith has turned to hope.

I don't think Denver will be able to run against the Pack. I've heard all week that they should be able to pick on the Packers' secondary. I heard that about the Titans, too. Orton didn't take any shots down the field against Tennessee. Will he have a big day and throw the ball deep every once in awhile? We'll see.

I'd like to see some creative play-calling as well. You can't get any more vanilla than they are right now. Mix in a flea-flicker or something. Hell, it might even work.

Here's hoping Denver keeps it respectable.....

Well, that about how it should've gone. I loved the flea flicker, though! Our secondary got torched.

SkeeterJD, let's not start with the Orton bashing. Focus on supporting your team.

It was nice to see that! I don't mind tooting my own horn a little as well!

The result wasn't necessarily surprising, but I was very disappointed in the defense. It was like a hot knife through butter. Man, the secondary sure misses Champ. It wouldn't have mattered today, though. Green Bay is on a totally different level. Why rush only three on third and long when you have the pass rushing tandem that Denver has? Pressure the QB into making a quick decision, and it may be a wrong one. Plus, you get could a sack, force a fumble, or maybe pick one off. Rush three and you give the QB time to find a receiver. You can only cover for so long.

What I liked the most is that Denver actually took shots downfield. Finally! It will be interesting to see how they look when they get Royal and Thomas (and the other Thomas) back.

            Fells....hold onto the damn ball!

Yeah, we witnessed one of the best QBs in the game (if not the best) play against a beat-up secondary; and it showed.

The defense really needed an ally in the Broncos' offense. Instead, they saw two INTs (could've been three), a lost fumble, and a surprise onside kick put them in tough situations.

Didn't see the game, but the box score shows Orton had 3 picks...did he not?

The thing I am becoming more and more concerned about is the stubbornness of Fox. The Packers were up 49-17 with eight minutes left in the game, and yet he refuses to put Tebow in the game. Why not? Is he that worried that Tebow would come in and lead the Broncos down for a couple of scores and then he'd really start hearing it from the fans?

Next Sunday is going to be really interesting to watch.

By the way...that 'Tebow Package' they ran was a joke.

I think he's worried about the perception more than anything else. Surprised he wouldn't give Quinn some snaps though if they really are both considered #2 (it's said to be either that or Quinn's got the edge, right?).

Any new news on Thomas? I just wanna see this kid play, man. I was hoping the Ravens would snag him but I guess I'm glad we didn't at this point. He's got the look of a mini Calvin Johnson if he can just get on the damn field.

Yeah, it's totally about perception. Fox doesn't want to introduce any more controversary than he has to at this point. I get that...for now.

Truthfully, I'd much rather have Orton in there than Quinn. I think anarchy may set in if Fox benched Orton in favor of Quinn and didn't give Tebow a shot. The thing is that I think both Orton and Quinn will be gone next year because both of their contracts are up. That's semi-okay if Tebow is going to work out, but right now nobody knows.

How many home team's crowds chant for the visiting team's back-up quarterback? It happened yesterday. This whole thing is a weird soap opera spiraling out of control.

I haven't heard anything on Thomas. I would like to see what he can do as well. The dude just can't stay healthy...even for a little bit. I can't imagine what it would be like if Denver had Lloyd, Decker, Royal, and Thomas all healthy at the same time.

I also am concerned that Lloyd is going to be gone next year as well.

That's the problem, it's a circus. Calling for Tebow has gone viral... and it's done by people that have no idea what it even means. You're right also, if Quinn comes in it's just as bad. The whole thing just puts them in a horrible situation. I think they plan on Quinn being back though. My guess is the plan is that Tebow/Quinn stick around with one starting, and if it doesn't look like either should be the future, then they move Tebow bc they can probably get more for him in a trade. Just my wild guess though.

I don't know if you are bunching me in that statement or not.

I agree that there is some truth in that, but there are a lot of Bronco fans out there that have seen what Orton has to offer for for the last couple of years and they want to see what Denver has in Tebow. Not because they are Tebow maniacs, but because there isn't any faith in Orton. Denver gets nothing out of the losses that they are piling up right now, whether its Orton's fault or not. This is a lost year if they lose to San Diego again at home. It just is. They would be better off getting something out of it by at least gaining some knowledge about their situation. If Tebow isn't all that, they can move on, perhaps from all three quarterbacks. After all, there is also the possibility that Denver's future QB isn't even on the roster.

lol, not at all man. I wouldn't say that about anybody here. I'm not a Broncos fan but I probably talk in this thread more than any other bc you guys are pretty rational and passionate (and I've been fascinated by the whole Cutler, McDaniel, Orton, Tebow thing for a while now). No, when I say it's "gone viral" I mean it's now the thing to do, allowing people that don't know a lick about football to join in. You can claim to be a Broncos fan and sound cool by calling for Tebow. You can be a fan of the opposing team and know you're stirring the pot by calling for Tebow. It's like calling Cutler "soft" or Ray Lewis a murderer. It's now one of those things that people that don't know jack can use to act like they know something.

I definitely understand that. I am by no means what I would consider a casual Bronco fan. I find it funny when I run into Bronco 'fans' only to quickly discover how little they actually know about the team. To each their own.

I guess passion is what makes it so much fun, right? No question it's tough being a Bronco fan these days. I waited so long for the Broncos to gain respectability, and they finally had it at the turn of the century. They were considered a model franchise after winning back-to-back Super Bowls, so it's been tough watching them fall on some of the hardest times in team history. I may be wrong, but I think if you check the record books, Denver has had the fewest losing seasons of any team in the NFL. They had been to at least one Super Bowl in three straight decades until the last one. I think they hit rock bottom last year, but apparently they are going bump around down there a bit more before they start to re-surface.
