Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
I still dont like the decision to take him that high, losing a first round pick. All I kept hearing before the season by analysts was the interceptions he was going to bring. Hard to do that when you're not on the field at this point.Aaron

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Gotta admit, I think the Steelers are going to take this game. It seems a lot of people underestimate teams coming out of a bye. I also think PIT's D is built kind of like the Ravens (with better pass rushers at that) and they've had 2 weeks with one watching a good blueprint. I'm hoping that rare air plays a role though. Playing at home does good things for the Broncos and Orton particularly. They'll have to take some shots to Marshall this game for sure. Moreno and Buckhalter won't be able to do much. Orton can make his next paycheck with this game. Come on Broncos!Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
My old man just informed me that his golfing buddy is one of the replay officials tonight.
He assured my dad all calls will go in favor of the good guys
Oh yea, I forgot to mention:
Tonight some dude wanted to fight me when I was waiting for my bus in downtown Pittsburgh because I had my Bronco jacket on. He was drunk and luckily he buddies got him to relax and walk away.Last edited by kehlis; 11-09-2009, 09:01 PM.Comment

As far as the state of the Broncos: Very simple, they need to run the ball more effectively. The quick action lost its effectiveness in the second half leading to Orton's 2nd interception. No linebacker bit on the playfake. Knowshon Moreno is a bust thus far. As I have said before, he runs light, and is poor in pass blocking.
Better not let down against Washington, better use this week to get back on track. Damn San Diego is going to hang around again and get lucky.
This is going to be a sucky week.Comment

I don't know how thug tactics make a city better? I'm glad it's this way in Denver, better people and better atmosphere.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Guess I was right... unfortunately.
Moreno may not be blowing up like expected but there was no way he was going to much against PIT. Unfortunately Orton's reputation didn't hold up last night. The run D let down for the most part. They still held in there though. Nothing to be ashamed of.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
You totally misunderstood the point in which I was trying to make. I don't condone "thug tactics" but Denver isn't a true blue Broncos city anymore. I understand many people from all over have moved into the area, so the change is understandable, but I don't have to like it. That's MY OPINION.Last edited by Hammerhunker; 11-10-2009, 09:23 PM.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Damn.
I liked it better when this threads main concern was Denver's punter situation.
Here comes San Diego....btw, they start the season slow, so not too surprised.
I know it sucks now, but 3-2 against those 5 teams isn't too badComment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Forward.
Now it is time to look at the following 4: Chargers, Giants, Colts, Eagles. I say 2-2 would be the target or better, obviously. The remaining games against the Redskins, Raiders and Chiefs better be wins.
Is Colquitt gone and lost forever? I can't believe he is that worse of an option than what Berger has shown thus far. Berger's punting put the defense in a bind many times. I just can't believe he is going to get a third week.
I was able to listen to a lot of Sirius NFL yesterday, cringing, waiting for the "gurus" to really lash the Broncos, but for the most part they are still getting some respect. The defense is still salty.
McD figures out they need to stretch the field a little more and establish a little more of the run game, things will be fineComment

Broncos make o-line change : First-and-Orange is the authority on the latest breaking news and analysis about the Denver Broncos, written by Troy E. Renck, Nicki Jhabvala and other Denver Post sports writers. Colorado
A subtle change, not sure if needed, some think so.
My immediate question was wondering if he is scrapping the heavy look or will Hamilton assume the role as blocking TE and H back. I haven't seen it for a couple of weeks is the Wham series with Hochstein.
Another point to ponder, just throwing it out there...Larry Johnson?Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
After a few days to ponder this game:
I get more and more impressed with the defense each week. Sure, they game up more points in their last two games then they have all season, but in all honestly, I blame that on the offense at this point. In each of the last two games, they have made big stop after big stop in one score games only to see the offense go out and have a 3 and out or a 6 and out.
Not only does that get frustrating, they start to wear down. If it is frustrating for a fan to watch, I can only imagine how it wears on a defense after awhile.
The offense will be okay, there is no need to panic. After all, it's not like the Broncos lost to crappy teams.
McDaniels does need to come up with some adjustments offensively though. The screen that were so affective early in the season are starting to lose a little bit of their success.
Defenses are just sitting in short zones, daring Orton to throw downfield, and making sure the WR's get as little YAC as possible.
The Broncos haven't asked Orton to throw deep often so I don't think at this point we can even say it would be unsuccessful, they need to at least have somewhat of a threat downfield, even if it doesn't result in completions. At least attempt it every now and again so defenses can't just dismiss it as a possibility.
It feels weird for me to say this, but the defense is what is going to win games from here on out. They need to do what they have been doing and the offense has to produce a little more.
One of the Broncos biggest issues is that they don't have the capability to overcome deficits in the waning moments of the game. THeir offense is at it's best when they have a lead or are down by just a score, and they can control the pace of the game. I'm convinced they can get back to it, they just need to make some adjustments as it appears other teams are starting to adjust to them a bit.
Next weeks game is a must win. Not because the season is over if they lose, but rather they need to win so they can get that winning feel back, and because of some of the other upcoming games.
I would rather this be a must win game now then the Philly game at the end of the season be a must win game.
Let's take this won (pun intended) and get back on track.Comment

It is a great opportunity this week to get a win, and get that two game lead back, as San Diego is facing Philly.Comment
