    Crisis avoided?

NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi is reporting Denver Broncos QB Kyle Orton will play this week against the San Diego Chargers despite an injured left ankle.

Orton sat out the second half of Sunday’s 27-17 loss to the Redskins after he was injured during a scramble late in the first half, and refused to speculate on the severity of the injury following the game.

        Hillis

The most frequently asked question I have been asked this year hasn’t been Orton or Simms? Or, why is the team so effective in the first half? Or, why is the team so ineffective in the second half? Or, why has the defense been so good? Or, what happened to the run defense? Or, why don’t they throw it downfield? Or why don’t they run the ball more?

The most commonly asked Broncos question to me and my colleagues is: Why doesn’t Peyton Hillis play more?

Maybe Sunday against the San Diego Chargers. No. 3 tailback LaMont Jordan is out. No. 2 tailback Correll Buckhalter has a gimpy knee. Chris Simms will need a strong running game to survive what figures to be an onslaught of Bolt blitzes.

No. 1 tailback Knowshon Moreno can handle a 20- to 25-carry workload but if that’s the case, he figures to need a spell. If Hillis gets a chance, and he does something with that chance, McDaniels would see for the first time the type of infectious energy he would bring. Hillis isn’t fast. He isn’t shifty. But his north-south style of running enthralls the fandom.

And a crowd’s energy tends to feed the offensive linemen. We’ll see.
I won't hold my breath at this point.

So when was the last time the Broncos started the game with their backup?

I remember Ramsey being the last, doing it one time, but not sure when. Two years ago maybe?

Looked at the logs, vs Detroit (44-7 loss). He threw 3 passes last year vs Patriots.

I'm expecting this game to get ugly fast

                I wouldn't be surprised.

We will see a ton of screens today.

But hopefully with a week of practice Simms will look slightly better than an average college qb.

                  Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

Well, fellas, the sun still hasn't come up yet. The older I get the more upset I get when the Broncos don't do well. It is getting to the point that I dread them playing instead of looking forward to them. It's funny, my uncle and I have to watch the game by ourselves, nobody in our family will watch the Broncos with us. Shame on me.

Again, I feel bad for this team. I think they are mostly victims to poor luck. The first six games, the luck was flowing their way, the last 4, well, you know.

I can't help from playing the "what-if" game again. What if Simms can get them in the endzone or get a FG on that first drive? What if Moreno scores (why in the hell wasn't there a camera down the goalline?)? What if the onside kick works? So on and so on.

I truly believe that if the Broncos could score on the opening drive, get an early turnover, that they can get it done against the Giants. Anyway, it is must win time already for this team. I just hope Orton keeps getting healthy and they don't stop believing.

One thing we do have though, a true man at the QB position. That guy would be out there with bloody stumps.

                    The curse of Kern lives.

We were 6-0 with him. Cut him at the bye week. Now he's 4-0 or 3-0 with the Titans and we haven't won a game since

There you go, you nailed it.

Watching the game last night made me wonder about another linebacker we could have drafted that would have been an impact this year: Brian Cushing. That kid is all over the field. Plus, James Laurinaitis. 22 tackles on Sunday, probably the NFC Rookie Defenseman of the Year. However, I bet a bunch of fans from all the teams are thinking the same thing.

You guys also could've had Clay Matthews too.

Anyway, we just signed Josh Bell, who last played for you guys. Was he a contributer for ya'll in anyway or was moreso a Practice Squad player?

A lot of positives tonight, but I think Moreno had his best game of the year. He seemed to be running with a determination I hadn't seen yet.

The 2 negatives that need to get fixed asap; redzone trips ending in FG's and really stupid penalties (always killing a drive)

What are the injuries for Royal and Moreno?

How about Bailey's hit on Ware? I thought it was one of the safeties at first

I want to see the McDaniels sideline speech again that got NFLN all embarrassed.
