It's ESPN, but it's also Schefter
Despite their stormy relationship, the Denver Broncos are now exploring the possibility of giving a contract extension to wide receiver Brandon Marshall, two league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.
The potential new deal would put Marshall's salary more in line with some of the game's other highly-paid receivers.
Due to the fact he has been unable to get a long-term deal, Marshall has been clinging to the hopes that Denver would deal him. But now, in a new approach, the deal Denver might make is not for Marshall, but rather with Marshall.
The fact that they are even talking is an encouraging sign, sources said, and there is some optimism that a deal could be struck that could keep Marshall in Denver long term.Comment

As much as I hate what the guy did, and I currently don't have a lot of respect for him.
We certainly could use him this year and likely in the near future.
Hopefully a new contract would put all this in the past and everyone involved can move on. Maybe McD knows what he is doing after all.Comment

The million dollar(s) question is, can Marshall learn the playbook at this point to be effectiveComment

I guess we will learn now if it was a matter of him not knowing the playbook or McDaniels benching him for his actions (before his on-field actions).Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
IMO, the whole possibility of a contract extension just doesn't sound good. He has thrown his tirades, demanded to be traded, made a fool out of himself, disrespected his teammates, and made it quite clear he didn't want to be a Denver Bronco. After put on ice awhile, all is cool?
It is poor business just like it would be poor parenting to put your child into timeout only to then take them out for ice cream or a new toy afterward.
I always have to think of Rod Smith, the model of professionalism.Comment

It's almost surreal. These aren't the same Broncos that we have experienced for many years. I'm excited.Comment
