A subtle change, not sure if needed, some think so.

My immediate question was wondering if he is scrapping the heavy look or will Hamilton assume the role as blocking TE and H back. I haven't seen it for a couple of weeks is the Wham series with Hochstein.

Another point to ponder, just throwing it out there...Larry Johnson?
I'm guessing/hoping that its just a wakeup call for the guys on the line to start doing a better job- everyone has to be accountable regardless of the time spent on the team. There have been times though that guys are coming right up the middle without getting touched, really in the last 2 games. I dunno if you can say Hamilton is to blame for the issues we've had on giving Orton time. Who knows what is going on in McDaniels head... we have Berger on the team with Colquitt a free agent.

No thanks for LJ. Dont need another diva on the team when the spot is currently filled.

For this weeks game, I dont have much confidence considering we're traveling to the East coast and its at FedEx field.. not an easy place to play at still. Orton can't be blamed for not throwing down the field, especially in the last 2 games when he's had someone in his face by his 3rd step or someone wrapped around making him shuffle up. Oline needs to give him a chance, putting Simms in (Someone from Post mentioned it) wont help anything

Considering how McDaniel's has handled Cutler and Marshall (with the front office behind him) I seriously doubt they even look at tape of LJ.

Renting a AFC West rival refugee could pay dividends. It won't happen, Johnson does not possess the skill set that McDaniels covets. The potential seems intriguing to me.

I hear you but it'd be counter productive. They worked HARD (maybe harder than anyone in recent memory) to either get rid of the malcontents or get them in line with the program. No way they'd bring in a guy who was essentially cut for being a bad guy in general and publicly calling out the head coach.

You really shouldn't want him anyway. LJ wouldn't have gotten any more yards against the Ravens or Steelers. Those were just two bad matchups for your offense, and especially your running game.

Who is to say he would be a malcontent, in the short term and who is to say he would have gotten more yards against the Ravens and Steelers?

I say as a football player that Johnson wouldn't have fit in last year's scheme, but with the power g scheme the Broncos utilize with this offense instead of the zone scheme, his skill-set would work, though it doesn't fit with what McD has now.

This is a situation to see if McD conducts business like Belichick: not being afraid to bring on a player with a questionable past but capable of buying into a program to provide veteranship.

            I'm just sayin'

I think you may be trying to make things fit into your hypothesis. Nobody can say anything for sure so you analyze the information you have and make decisions based on that. The Broncos aren't the Pats. McD is just starting to set things up his way and BB has had things set up for years. It's easier to bring in one guy over there while the Broncos are still bringing in high quality leadership guys to create that kind of culture. Meanwhile, LJ has a looooong history of being a problem. The coach who drafted him called him a baby and he hasn't matured one bit since then. He's pissed off every GM/coach he's had, had has off the field problems with violence and making insensitive comments, has been given a leave of absence from his team multiple times before being released. Just looking at it all on paper, I'd bet a good amount of money against the Broncos even taking a call from his agent.

As for the football skills, it's the same. The data says that the Steelers and Ravens have been two of the best run stopping teams in the NFL for close to a decade. Add in that Orton's strengths don't force safeties to drop back off the line much and there's little chance of the Broncos having much success running the last two weeks no matter who's back there. LJ clearly showing a slow down for all the carries he's had over his career just make it even less likely.

Let me also add that the "character" guys BB brought in were made to look worse by the media than they actually were. He didn't bring in TO or Pacman Jones. Moss is one of the greatest ever and his "issues" were minor and clearly more butting heads with dysfunctional management in Oakland than just being a cancer. Dillon wanted money or out of Cincy which you can say is greed but also could be him seeing he won't win a championship before retiring if he stays there. You won't find too many guys in NE that weren't quality, intelligent players... LJ is neither.

LJ's not the answer and I wouldn't even be all that worried about the running game anyway. Moreno/Buckhalter aren't Benson or AP... the only two backs who have done anything on the Ravens run D (and Orton isn't Palmer or Favre who helped those backs too) but the Broncos won't be facing those two teams every week. The team's 6-2 and need to finish 4-4 to make the playoffs most likely. They're in great shape.

You make very valid points in which I can't argue, but you have to realize my whole hypothesis is a big "what if." The Broncos won't sign him, I know that, I was just asking, "What if?" I am intrigued by the, what if he were to realize this could be his last opportunity to play in this league? What if he were to buy into what the Broncos want to achieve? What if he were to accept a modest contract? The Broncos play the Chiefs twice, be kind of intersting to see that storyline.

I hear you. Just hard for me to even see the "what ifs" with LJ. I saw them with Benson who has the great story, and even with TO who didn't seem to get there. But LJ I think is just a waste of space for the most part at this point. This year should've been his "what if" and he just mucked it up anyway.

Yep. The fun of the "what if." In reality, it isn't looking like anyone is willing to take a chance on this joker.

Well atleast we know where Simms fits in- the sideline with a clipboard in his hand. He looked like a rookie without a clue of what to do.

Orton walking around is atleast good, I expect him to be back for the biggest game of the season next week.

So true. What makes me feel bad is that they play hard but just aren't getting the job done. Like you said, Washington is a hard place to play regardless of their record, but still.

Hopefully holding KO out was precaution. Next week will be huge and the next week and the next and the next, lol.

I say, "The heck with Sims" Let's throw Tom Terrific into the fire and see how he does. At least we could literally mean it when we say he looks like a clueless rookie.

Orton is a trooper. He is saying he will play, though the Broncos are not confirming. I think Orton could have a severed limb but still say he is playing. You notice yesterday, he never took off his helmet. He actually looked like he was coming back in.

Hey, the schedule always has that game you lose when you should have one, and vice-versa. We have had two to the good so far. The Broncos are fine, this will test their mettle. Bring on the Chargers.
