Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
The most frustration for me this year was just little ineptitudes within the games
There were really only 2 losses thus far that had me furious (Redskins, and Raiders). For the most part, I'm able to live with some of the other losses.
That said, there were at least 3 games (I know any team could probably say the same thing) that could have easily gone in favor of the Broncos if it weren't for some of the following mind numbing issues:
Short Yardage
Points of Turnovers
Red Zone TD %
Simple playcalling
Anemic run game
Very little explosive play threat
IMO, these are all areas that really held the Broncos back this year. Looking back at a majority of the games where teh defense gave up higher point totals, most of those games were actually within reach for the Broncos, but there was always something they couldn't capitalize. I can't count on both hands and feet how many drives were stalled because of a failure to convert a 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1. To me, that was the most frustrating aspect of all.
They got more TO's this year than last, but rarely capitalized with TD's (too lazy to look up actual figures).
That coupled with the fact that they seemed to love trading FG's for TD's (see this last game against the Eagles) were the most frustrating aspects thus far.
Like Will mentioned, I think there is a lot to look up about, I do think there is promise for success sooner rather than later (can't wait for Brandstater!!) but with that said, the Broncos are in the position they are in now for a reason, the way they have played down the stretch probably isn't deserving of a playoff spot.
It's frustrating to see that out of the top 4 seeds, all teams the Broncos played, they beat 3 of them...Comment

I guess things did even out. The losses to the Redskins and Raiders can be compared to the wins over the Bengals, Cowboys, and Patriots. Each of those games could have easily gone the other way.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Exactly, finally got this one right. Hard to believe Berger kicked in 9 games. His stat line does not even indicate how poorly he truly kicked (41.5 net average). He stuck this team in predicaments countless times. Good riddance.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Caught this story a little late but thought it was worth sharing with anyone who didn't see it in the Post:
New Year’s Eve night is a tough time at Dove Valley. Three years ago, Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was slain in a drive-by shooting. Williams had just left a downtown Denver nightclub around 2 a.m. New Year’s Day and was riding in the backseat of a limousine when a fatal bullet struck his neck. Willie Clark has been charged with Williams’ murder and is awaiting trial.
The Broncos players were reminded this week of the dangers inherent with the New Year’s Eve celebration.
Williams would have been finishing up his fifth season with the Broncos, providing the team didn’t allow him to reach free agency after last season. For all the changes from top to bottom that occurred inside the Broncos’ organization in those three years, I think Williams would have been still been the Broncos’ starting right cornerback had he still been here on Earth. Fast, aggressive and loaded with personality, D-Will would have been Josh McDaniels’ kind of guy.
May Broncos players stay safe, tonight. May D-Will rest in peace.Comment

I wish I could be a fly on the wall out at Dove Valley. I wonder what BM and Big Tony are actually doing to get kicked out to the doghouse.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
there are so many scenarios that they are hard to keep them straight and the big difference between last year and this year was last season, all the Chargers had to do was lose and the Broncos were in.
This year, although there are scenarios that get them in even if they lose, they still pretty much have to win to have any shot so they can look at scores all they want but they still need to get it done on the field.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Unrelated:
Here's what it comes down to:
Assuming that both the Jets and Ravens will not lose, and ignoring the scenerios that have the Broncos in with a loss we need either the Texans or the Dolphins to win this morning to go into this afternoons game with any realistic chance...
Here's to hopeComment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
So fellow Bronco fans, this is assuming Marshall is gone and we get a 1st back for him, do we draft Dez Bryant if he is available for our 1st pick in the 1st round?
It would somewhat be a waste IMO to trade a proven Marshall for an unproven talent like Bryant though.7 National Championships

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
I may be the only person that thinks the Broncos could add through subtraction by letting Marshall go. Yes, he is a tremendous talent but he is such high maintenance. You look at the receiving corps in the late 90's Super Bowl runs: a bunch of hardworking overachievers with not a drop of prima donna in them (sans Shannon Sharpe but he wasn't a distraction). The Broncos have good receivers now and could find a good talent in the draft if need be. If this year is any indication of what life will be like with Marshall from here on out, adios Brando.Comment
