Wow. Out of that list of "signed" players there are only 2 (maybe 3) defensive players.

I'd be excited if we get Dawkins. Leadership and attitude is exactly what the D needs..

John Lynch was supposed to do that as well, granted we got 2 good years from him but the attitude never took. It may be different having a relatively young defense from the draft so it could soak in. We had too many FA's on our defense, it wasn't a core group imo.

Signing on the offensive side of the ball clears up the draft for defense, really there's not alot of defensive options in this FA (imo) outside of those old pipedreams of Peppers, Haynesworth, etc.

And regarding the WR, I think having Gaffney and Chad Jackson will help this offense out. Our depth was not that great past our starting 3.

If you heard it from ESPN, their source is the SF Chronicle guy and Rotoworld is using him as their source.

Ya SC is a joke, they're using the SF Chronicle so dont put too much into it yet. The reporter wanted Raiders to get Dawkins so who knows what his agenda is/was. No one else has info on this deal besides the SF Chronicle- its too quiet if the deal was reached especially for NFLN not to mention it. Schefter said he's talking to Broncos and Eagles atm.

He better learn how to take a proper angle for a tackle and not whiff completely.

I find it highly strange that we're this far in (atleast 2 hours) with the "signing" of Dawkins and the live free agent show on NFLN has made no mention of it other than that the two sides are talking.

The San Francisco Chronicle has reported that the team has agreed to terms with Philadelphia safety Brian Dawkins and that a press conference will be held Saturday. However, a source close to the situation said no press conference has been set. Dawkins could be headed to Denver but the deal is not done yet.

Reliabe ESPN, already backing off.

Now NFLN put out a quick little "possible breaking news" about Dawkins before they hit the break, today was an odd day with confusion. Scott signed to the Jets, then he wasnt, then he was again. " A chance he will be changing teams, he is in the air on the way to Denver" , so nothing is official.

I'm done scouting for the day, signings have slowed down so I'll resume tomorrow.

Kind of stupid how it's just a race to see who can report who signed where first. Even if there isn't reliable evidence or a source.

That's why I dont like ESPN anymore and have no real reason to watch them. They just sprint with stories before really check if its a legit story or not. ESPN is the TMZ of sports.

Jim Leonhard

Free agent S Jim Leonhard has reportedly received interest from the Eagles and Broncos in addition to the Jets.

One of those teams is going to be without Brian Dawkins by Saturday, so they'll be in the market for a replacement. The way the Jets are moving, Leonhard won't have a chance to get out of New York without signing on Saturday.

Andra Davis

The Broncos are reportedly closing in a deal with LB Andra Davis.

Davis lacks speed, but he knows how to play inside linebacker in a 3-4 defense. We doubt he would be guaranteed a starting job after struggling often over the last two years.

Brian Dawkins

Fox 29 News in Philadelphia is confirming the San Francisco Chronicle report that Brian Dawkins has signed with the Broncos.

Again, we're hesitant to make this official until we see contract
terms, but it sounds like a done deal this time. The Eagles now have a need at safety and $40 million burning a hole in their pocket.

Andre Goodman

Free agent CB Andre Goodman has visits scheduled with the Broncos Saturday and the Browns on Sunday.

Former Belichick assistants doing battle over the same player. Goodman, who will turn 31 last year, is coming off his best year as a starter. He won't come at the same price as the younger corners like Dominique Foxworth that have already signed

Still some confusion with this one, but we shall see today. Supposedly we're seeing a press conference with him today.

Leach is asking to be released after Paxton's deal is official. This is the one signing that still bugs me, Leach is one of the better long snappers and we pay $5.3M over 5 years for a new one.

Rumor around town is that Stokely is becoming a trading chip for either draft pick(s) or a player, becuase of the WR's we're grabbing. I could see this happening but right now, it just looks like we're adding depth to a position we didnt have last year.

*9 AM, still no word on Dawkins.
*10 AM, NFLN FA show says Dawkins was indeed in town last night (he was at the Nuggets game) and they think this deal will be done sometime today.

Thanks for the updates.

We've signed 7 guys and SD, KC, and OAK have signed 0 between them.

I wouldn't mind seeing one more big free agent name on D. Last year the Falcons had Abraham and the Dolphins had Porter. I think we could use something like that. Not an elite player, just a good, solid, veteran.

If Dawkins is our answer to that, then I am fine with it.

David Anderson (WR) will likely be staying with the Texans, they're matching the Broncos' $4.5 mil over 3 years. Not sure if it's official yet.

Just 1 LB knows how to play defense here so he'll fit right in. I'm expecting bare minimum from any signings this off season.
