Ayers will be a stop-gap, IMO. He'll get first-team reps solely out of seniority. Wolfe will quickly overtake him for the top spot. And honestly, Wolfe would've overtaken Hunter as well. Ayers has yet to show why he was a first round pick.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
DJ was convicted on his DWI charge. No sentence yet, but he's going to get additional games tacked on to current 6 game suspension.
It wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if Denver went a different direction from him. In fact, I'd prefer it. I think he only ends up playing this year for Denver is if they have absolutely nowhere else to turn.Comment

Start Woodyard. He was great filling in for DJ last year. Seems like a smart player.Football: Denver Broncos

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Yup, start Woodyard. I think he'd flourish. I doubt you could really get anything if you tried to trade DJ Williams. IMO, cut him now, relieve your team of the distraction, and allow someone like Woodyard to take the mentality that he's #1.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
I don't like DJ. He's under-performed and I think he's just a bad guy. Denver doesn't need him. However, I don't think Denver will be quick to cut him. Like you guys, I like Woodyard, but he has a history of wearing down at the end of the year. They may be thinking that DJ will come in at just about the right time should they need help. You also never know with injuries.
Keeping DJ doesn't cost them a roster spot if he is suspended. They also don't have to pay him. So the reality is that they don't really have to make a decision on him until he is able to come back. My hope is that one or more of the young LB's start to break-out. Maybe Irving, Mohamed, or Trevathan will turn into something and when DJ is ready to come back, Denver can simply say, "Thanks, but we're good."Comment

I do have to disagree I can't just see cutting ties with him. Hopefully he gets back week 6 with fresh legs and makes a difference during the run to the playoff.Texas A&M Aggies

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Offensively, though, yeah. The rookie almost got Moreno killed, and nearly got Caldwell killed. That was a pretty good chance for Osweiler to establish himself firmly as #2, and I didn't see anything that made me think he should be.
I want to see Adam Weber get some extensive time.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Fourth preseason game. He probably won't see much time, if any, next week. He's got to jump over Hanie or he's not making this team. Hanie will probably get an extensive look next week. Fox wants Osweiler as the #2.
Who would have guessed that David Bruton would be the standout from the '09 class? I still have hope for Ayers. He seems to be improving. Moreno is definitely on the bubble, but I still think he stays. He did nothing last night, but nobody did in the second half.Comment
