As much as it pains me to say this, we have to get rid of Marshall. I love watching Marshall, don't get me wrong, but if you get rid of one headache, you get rid of them all.

I would be alright with a mediocre season this year if we had 2 1st rounders next year, since that would be most likely what we get from Marshall. Just imagine though, if McD didn't trade our first rounder next year for a CB () then it would be possible that we would have 3 1st rounders next year. Talk about trade bait haha.

Ah but what do I know. I'm just rambling because I'm starting to get the football itch since hockey season is over.
That's alot of money though that would be tied to first round picks, if we did have 3. I'm a bit disappointed in trading up for Alphonso Smith as well, especially when we passed on Ron Brace who went 1 pick later.. we need a nose tackle still.

As for getting a 1st round pick, I won't be shocked if no one takes the bait for Marshall unlesss 1) A team has no faith in their recievers or 2) All of their recievers (like Seattle) get bit by the injury bug. I dont see any team really wanting to take on a basket case who cant stay out of trouble for more than 11 months (14 incidents), still has questions about his arm which he still says has numbness, fresh hip surgery.

I wonder if the new system being put in is overwhelming for him? Just a thought with no evidence but I'd like to know.

Like Cutler, I don't care if Marshall stays or goes.

Carolina is setting a trend in not getting caught up in first round money and finding value with later picks and in abundance. With that said, I would find it foolish for Denver especially to possess multiple first rounders. Denver traded their #1 next year to draft Alphonso Smith (who I think will be ever bit worth the trade), so they are at the moment slated for only the Bears first rounder. I don't think Denver will have the choice of trade packages like they had with Cutler, if they so choose to trade Marshall. They may get multiple picks but a #2 will be the highest offered (just my assumption). Take this for what it's worth, but I don't think Marshall is going anywhere, yet (but I also predicted Cutler wasn't going anywhere).

My predictions: Broncos 7-9; Bears 10-6. So the Broncos will have a 20's first rounder next year, no where near close enough to get Taylor Mays, the dude I would kill to see in Orange and Blue. Steve Atwater/Dennis Smith/John Lynch/Brian Dawkins rolled into one.

Sources in Denver say Broncos first-round pick Robert Ayers’ transition to the NFL has been smooth. We hear Ayers, the 18th overall pick in the draft, picked things up quickly during offseason activities and received a good deal of reps with the first-team defense. It’s certain he’ll start at one of the front-seven spots on defense from Day One, but exactly where is something the Broncos still have to figure out. He was mostly lining up at outside linebacker in the team’s 3-4 set, according to observers, but he could be moved to defensive end, and most likely will rush with his hand on the ground on passing downs. The Broncos could re-evaluate the best place to put Ayers depending on what they see from other front-seven players. The coaching staff has established a level of trust in Ayers, and it badly needs him to make an instant impact when the regular season starts.

The Virginian-Pilot: Your source for Virginia breaking news, sports, business, entertainment, weather and traffic

Dre' Bly uses that word a lot these days. He is 32. Looking at an 11th year as an NFL cornerback. Coming off an imploded season with the Denver Broncos that left him impugned and unemployed; the San Francisco 49ers pulled him from the free-agent pool six weeks ago.

Bly is pleased with this, because he still has passes to defend, a reputation to restore. And now, there is a new coach's confidence to validate.

Yep, walking up to another NFL training camp, Bly is blunt about it. He doesn't need football. But he wants football.

"I'm just so hungry right now," Bly, from Chesapeake's Western Branch High, said last week at his formative training center on Baker Road, where he helped stage a two-day youth camp.

"If I wouldn't have signed, I'd have been OK with it. I mean, I would have been frustrated, but I know how the game is. I know the way things ended last year in Denver had something to do with why I didn't sign (until May).

"But that's all in the past. I've got a good situation in San Fran."

            ...
Upon his arrival from Detroit in '07, Bly called Denver "a classy organization that knows how to win." The Broncos were 8-8 last year, however, and were 15-17 in Bly's time there.

"I was made the scapegoat," Bly said. "Especially on the other side of Champ, you're gonna take (criticism). But I don't care who you are, if you don't have a pass rush and you're not aggressive on defense, they're gonna catch a ball.

"We weren't aggressive last year in Denver. We let people take the fight to us. We were so predictable on defense. I don't make no excuses; none of us played well in the system.... People are going to question my ability, saying I'm not this, I'm not that, that's fine. I use all that for motivation."

Marshall, sure does seem like his tune is changing. The guy has Fitzgerald and Rod Smith talking to him, at some point does it click finally?

As an injured player, Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall has been informed he needs to show up for training camp with the team's rookies on July 27.

As a disgruntled player, Marshall is a threat to continue his protest of his existing contract by failing to report to the Broncos' Dove Valley headquarters by his assigned date.

All players received a letter from coach Josh McDaniels that formally notified them of their reporting dates for training camp. Veterans who demonstrated healthy bodies through the Broncos' off-season minicamps don't have to report until July 30, with two-a-day workout sessions commencing the next day.

                        Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

In an interview with ESPN, apparently from the red carpet at the ESPY awards, an ascot-wearing Brandon Marshall said that he'll show up for training camp later this month.

                        "Right now I'm obligated, I'm under contract. . . . It's $14,000 a day if i miss," Marshall said. "I'm not stupid. So I will be there."

(Whether Marshall is or isn't stupid is a topic about which reasonable minds could differ. Clearly, he has done more than a few stupid things over the years.)

Actually, it's more like $17,000 per day for a training-camp holdout, if Marshall chooses to stay away. And he'd also owe the remaining 75 percent of his 2009 signing-bonus allocation of $100,000 or so; he forfeited the first 25 percent by skipping a mandatory minicamp in June, if the team decides to push the matter.

But whether Marshall and the team are truly on the same page remains to be seen. Marshall hinted during his ESPY sound bite at an agreement he reached with owner Pat Bowlen during a recent meeting, which presumably is a reference to the supposed promise by Bowlen that he will trade Marshall, if Marshall wants out.

So even though Marshall is going to show up, there could be some fireworks after he gets there.
In other news, Travis Henry gets 3 years in prison.

I dont appreciate him laughing at some of the questions, time to grow up and learn how to carry yourself on national television.

Interesting he used "they" for the Broncos team/front office- sounds like he's removed himself already from the team.

"Are you going to be wearing #15 for Denver Broncos?" His response "I'm definitely going to be wearing #15".

                              John Lynch on Marshall

"I don't like saying [buyer beware], but you've got to call a spade a spade, and I think it's a dangerous proposition," Lynch said. "I don't think you'll see the Broncos sign him to a long-term deal, because right now the behavior he's demonstrated off the field, I don't think you'd feel comfortable doing anything long term."
If we can get value, I'd trade him out. No more worrying over incidents and we can bring in someone from either another team or the draft that has common sense.

What worries me about him (important since we're in the hunt for a big time WR right now) is that he's so good that it's hard to let him go/discipline hime but you have to worry about the off field stuff AND him wanting to be paid like a big time WR who doesn't get in any trouble.

I know you all understand where I'm coming from with that. Lets hope he keeps his nose clean this year... I think he'll be a bronco still.
