    Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

Despite ongoing dialogue, the Broncos did not have their two, first-round draft choices signed in time for the first day of training camp.

There's a good chance running back Knowshon Moreno and outside linebacker Robert Ayers won't be at this afternoon's practice, either, as there was little progress in negotiations Friday.

"I think every day they miss hurts their opportunity to create a role on our team, or a bigger role on our team," Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said.

With Moreno out, second- year running back Ryan Torain performed exceptionally well in the morning practice. Torain missed all but two games last season with elbow and knee injuries.

"I'm trying to come out here and make a statement," Torain said. "There's definitely a lot of competition, and I'm just trying to work hard and play hard and have a good time doing it."
Lets see if Torain makes it through camp and preseason.

        Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Denver Broncos defensive lineman/outside linebacker Jarvis Moss was not in attendance at the team's practice Saturday. A team source with knowledge of the circumstances surrounding his absence talked with FOX31 Sports and provided an explanation.

He told Josina Anderson, "I was told Jarvis went to (Josh) McDaniels and met one-on-one with the coach and said he does not want to do this anymore. He feels he might be done with football and he's thinking about retirement."

This information has to come to a blow to an organization which drafted Moss with its 17th overall pick in the 2007 draft.

Upon learning this information, FOX 31 Sports attended practice Saturday and confirmed Moss was not there.

Broncos' General Manager Brian Xanders was approached to respond to the information but told FOX 31 Sports, "no comment."

Another source, who has since spoken to Moss on the phone, told Anderson that after their conversation they are now concerned for Moss' overall well being. The source said, "He told me he would talk to me in two hours. That this is his life and he's just got to figure things out."

        ...

The source also told Anderson that it's their thought Moss is having a hard time adapting to his new role in the new defensive scheme. He plays a combination of linebacker and defensive end in the 3-4 defense.
Wonder if there's any chance of getting him back

Just thought I'd let you guys know that Mike Shanahan was at Steeler Camp today. He said he was there because he had never witnessed another team's opening day of camp and he figured why not the defending world champs and one of the best organizations in sports. I believe he said his son also used to coach with Mike Tomlin in Tampa.

Ya Kyle was in Tampa for one season and since then he's been in Houston.

I have a feeling Shanahan will land in the NFC, not sure why

Agreed very possible it will be the Redskins if Zorn struggles this year. Anyway back to Broncos talk...

Hear the defense looked good today in both practices. Also heard Prater kicked a 53 yard FG with about 10 Yards to spare.

If you look at his split stat from last year Prater stuggles more in windy conditions going 4-7 last year. When 40 degrees and below he was 5-6. His windy misses were from 49 yrds and in while the only 40 degree and below miss was from 50+.

However he did get worse as the season progressed. In games 1-8 I believe he was 87.5% and from games 9-16 he dropped below 60%. Hopefully this year he can get the percentage up in games 9-16.

That was fast, Jarvis Moss expected to be back

Broncos defensive lineman Marcus Thomas told reporters after Sunday’s morning practice that he had spoken to Jarvis Moss, and Moss said he would be rejoining the team Monday.

“I talked to him this morning. He’s looking up now, so he’s going to be back,” Thomas said.

Thomas is Moss’ closest friend on the team, and the two have been teammates since early in their college careers at the University of Florida. Both were drafted by the Broncos in 2007.

Moss did not show up for training camp Saturday and has been excused from practice while he contemplates his future in football. Teammates said Saturday and today that Moss has been quite unhappy.

“I think he should think it over and do whatever is best for him, that’s the main thing,” teammate Tim Crowder, also a member of the 2007 draft class, said. “You know, it’s hard to do something when you’re not happy, and just as long as he’s happy at the end of the day, whatever decision he makes, he’s got to live with it.”

Coach Josh McDaniels refused to discuss Moss’ situation.

“Like I said, it’s a personally situation and I’m going to respect that, so I’m not going to talk about Jarvis,” McDaniels said. “So when he gets here, when he’s back, hopefully we’ll move forward.

                          More Marshall Drama

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Disgruntled Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall missed the last hour of practice Sunday after pulling up with an apparent hamstring injury while running a deep sideline route.

He sat out the late afternoon session as well.

Marshall hobbled to the sideline mid-morning, tossed his helmet and dropped to the grass. He didn't return to action, staying on the sideline a few minutes before limping to the trainer's room.

Coach Josh McDaniels said after the morning practice that he wasn't sure how bad Marshall was hurt.

Marshall has had another drama-filled offseason, this time complaining about his contract and requesting a trade four months after appearing in his first Pro Bowl.

He has made several spectacular plays at camp so far, showing no ill effects from offseason hip surgery. Marshall is coming off his second straight 100-catch season.

"If I had a team, I would definitely want him on it," Broncos cornerback Andre' Goodman said. "He's a big guy that runs great routes. He's a competitor -- any team wants a receiver like that. We want him healthy."

In years past if Bowlen had said this I would have no trouble believing it to be true. However, I must admit that this off season has at least put a little doubt in my mind.

Then again we are talking about Romanowski being the original source. LOL.

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said through a team spokesman today that Denver is not interested in signing former star quarterback Michael Vick, who has been reinstated to the NFL after serving a sentence for his role in a dog fighting operation.

"Pat Bowlen categorically denies meeting, or having a conversation with Michael Vick," said Broncos long-time spokesman Jim Saccomano.

According to a news release from Clear Channel radio, former Broncos linebacker Bill Romanowski said on a local radio show this morning that he had spoken with Bowlen, who confirmed to Romanowski that Vick was in Denver speaking to the Broncos about joining the team.

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels has said repeatedly the team is not interested in signing Vick.

I would compare Denver to San Francisco with their lifestyle or culture. I dont see Vick getting a warm welcome in Colorado with his baggage

If I'm not mistake, the roid rager was supposedly going to be the Broncos nutrionist. I think he said he was claiming it?

Contract talk- Ayers is supposedly close to being done.
