Now if you don't like Tebow, that's a completely different story but I think Thomas was the right WR to take (and got him at a good place) and that does fill a need. I think Orton can be serviceable for another year at QB, and McDaniels seems to know what he's doing with QBs so there's hope he can turn Quinn into something decent. With the offense he wants to run, I could see it happening. And we know Tebow is going to do everything he can to be good and a guy like McDaniels is a great guy to try to help him get there.

I honestly don't see it as bad as you think. And they definitely didn't give up too much to move up. Take a closer look. They gave up a 2nd rounder and moved up in the 1st round. They moved down 4 spots in the fourth round. Other than that, they gave up a 3rd round pick. They have a ton of picks. It seemed like a fair deal and shouldn't hurt too much considering they have other picks to work with.
Thomas pick I liked, said WR was a need coming into the draft. Tebow, absolutely 100% do not like this pick.

As I said in the draft thread, there is PLENTY of higher needs for this team than another QB. The fact that he's drafted a 2 QBs in 2 years and also traded for Quinn, thats overkill when fans are looking at a defense that wore down on the line and need some help for ILB. Even corner is wearing thin considering the age of the DBs and there's little to no improvement. Last year they missed with Alphonso Smith (reach) and Ty Law had to be brought in since younger guys weren't cutting it- although Jack Williams was serviceable and was confusing to see him go.

The pick was a reach and not needed for this team in its mini-rebuild, thats how I see it. Giving up a pick was too much for a project QB in the first round with other glaring needs of the Denver Broncos.

Most mock drafts had the Broncos choosing ILB Rolando Mclain..I would have thought that to be a more logical choice than Tebow.Im still scratchin my head on this one...

McClain was gone, 8th pick overall to the Oakland Raiders.

I can see where you are coming from in this respect, but at the same time I don't think McDaniels went and mortgaged the farm by grabbing Tebow late in the first. If you take a look at the draft board there are a ton of first round level guys still remaining. This draft is very deep. I know you're currently sitting on 2 QB but both of these guys have had enough time in the NFL to comfortably say that neither of them are going to be the strap the team on their back and make a deep run style QB. Like him or not Tebow is still unknown. I personally like Orten a lot, starting following him at Purdue. If three years from now Tebow is starting QB, McDaniels looks like a mastermind. If in 3 years Tebow is playing TE you still didn't give up much for the pick simply because of the depth of this draft and the number of picks you have in it.

There is 4. Orton, Tebow, Quinn, Brandstater. Atleast one will be gone and the other who knows. Orton is the oldest at 27

Scheffler can tell you, McDaniels offense doesnt cater to a recieving TE so Tebow should learn how to block if it goes that route. McDaniels traded up for Quinn, a blocking TE in last years draft. The one thing in favor of Tebow is the spread that McDaniels wants to run.

All I'll say is normally at this time we'd be looking at 4 rounds worth of players while evaluating our team's draft to this point. If at the end of today (or tomorrow) you still don't feel they've adequately filled the needs then you should be pissed while holding your breath to see how it all comes together in training camp. But after 1 round, they got the best option for them at WR imo, the QB they seemed to really want, and have added to the insane number of draft picks they already had going into one of the deepest drafts in recent history. Not bad at all imo.

Thomas I'm happy with, he'll take a little time to get used to running a variety routes since GT ran the option. I think he said he had 3-5 routes total in that offense- hitch, go and comeback the most common for him?

I know Tebow will get onto the field this year and hopefully he's like Hillis when given the chance to make a play and keep chugging. Speaking of Hillis, I think everyone expected him to take over for Buckhalter at some point with Buckhalter's injuries in the season. I have no clue what to expect for Day 2, I just want a solid corner at some point, I will be shocked if Alphonso Smith shows up this year and gets an interception like he was touted to get consistently

Watching his interview, I can see him matching with McDaniels. Guy seems really, really excited to be a Denver Bronco. I hate not being able to hear the questions being asked

Typo by the writer but they meant 3rd QB drafted in the 1st round since there's plenty of other draft selections (Griese, Hackney, Van Pelt, etc) later on in the draft.

Dline, LB, and/or CB for tomorrow. Please McDaniels.

No Rockies on, just refreshing sports threads haha

Expect Beadles (OT) to be guard since they've got 2 centers (1 from last year, 1 this year)

Anyone hear or see Werder about Tebow?

Saw someone on the official (too enthusiastic) Bronco forum say that Tebow asked if he was staying for the remainder of the week and McDaniels told him he couldn't or he'd get fined by the NFL. Werder said Tebow then offered to find a hotel to stay at (out of his own pocket) and have the coaches come over to start working.

If thats true, kudos to Tebow. Anyone heard of this story?
