    Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

I heard it from NFL mobile updates. I believe it meant two active gameday QB but I typed it wrong on here sorry. I figure Orton is the starter and Brady the back up with Tebow seeing time in certain formations. Seems like every 2010 NFL preview magazines has us finishing 4th.

The thing is if they keep two active gameday qb's, and keep Quinn as the backup, Tebow can't come in to the came for any formation because that would be rendered use of the emergency QB.

It's an awkward situation because if they only want to have 2 gameday QB's and they want to put Tebow in other formations, they may be forced to activate him on gameday and designate quinn as the emergency QB.

Any truth to the reports that Denver is going to be a more smash-mouth, downhill running team this year? Moreno the centerpiece?

They're not going to be a run-first team if you're asking that. As for running style, yes it'll be smash-mouth since McDaniels has brought in the bigger oline guys compared to years past where it was lighter and quicker linemen for the zone blocking.

Moreno has worked on his pass blocking so its up to him to be the feature back. His conditioning will also be another piece for him but McDaniels will still rotate the backfield to keep legs fresh (Moreno & Buckhalter)

Yea agreed here if Buckhalter stays healthy and Moreno can protect the ball we should be ok in the running game.

I just happened to hear Colin Cowherd on the radio this morning and he was ranting that "We all told you Denver that you were wrong to trade 3 drafts picks to get Tebow, and now you are starting to see it". That's all I heard, but has Tebow been so bad in mini-camp or something that they don't think he'll play QB?

Ha, Cowherd (I actually am one of the few that enjoy his show) has been so anti Denver for three years now it doesn't surprise me.

He has berated everything they have done since they fired Shannahan.

Nothing has happened since the draft that will change the status of Tebow either way. He hasn't underwhelmed but nor has he overwhelmed.

The biggest question will be if they decide to carry him on the gameday roster or not at this point.

Yea Cowherd has never seemed to like Denver...But I still enjoy his show.

I do think it is way to early to call it a mistake to pick up Tebow...Time will tell.

Per rotoworld, randomly checked in to see if anything was going on since the off-season has been really low key. Feelings on the deal?

Broncos agreed to terms with OLB Elvis Dumervil on a contract extension. Per ESPN's John Clayton, the five-year extension brings the total package to six years and $61.5 million with $43.156 million guaranteed

The deal is nearly identical to the one signed by Terrell Suggs last season. Locking up Dumervil is an important signing for the franchise. Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall were rewarded for their petulance with lucrative new deals in other cities while Dumervil spoke softly and carried a big stick on the field. One of the few Mike Shanahan leftovers still thriving under Josh McDaniels, the 2009 NFL sack leader is the cornerstone around which the Broncos will build their defense.

Im an very happy with the deal. At least we didnt let another star player slip away. I still think we need to add a big play receiver.

Even though I never liked him, its nice to see him try to get everything straightened up

Maurice Clarett, the 2005 third-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos who never played a down in the NFL, is going back to college after being released from prison.

Maurice Clarett, the 2005 third-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos who never played a down in the NFL, is going back to college after being released from prison.

Clarett has enrolled as a student at Ohio State, where he was a star running back for one season but became a notorious figure for his fight with the NCAA and his repeated off-field problems.

"This is a surreal feeling to be back at Ohio State in such a supportive environment," Clarett said in a statement. "I have looked forward to being back in school and I'm doing my best to fit in with other students. I don't want to be distraction or nuisance to the football team or to students on campus."

Even though the Broncos cut him before he ever played in a regular-season game, Clarett is a significant figure in NFL history. The league's stance that players must be three years out of high school before they can play in the NFL was bolstered when Clarett sued the league and lost.
Tebow is expected to get his deal done by this week, Thomas is lagging a little bit.

I REALLY hope Thomas doesn't miss too much of training camp (if any). As far as this season goes, he's tied more to the success of the Broncos and McDaniels than the big Tebow pick, even though nobody's talking about him (just how horrible it was to let Marshall go). I got a feeling this kid can be special but you always worry when they don't get into camp on time... especially WRs.

                              Per Rotoworld/Twitter

Thomas deal done. 5 years, $12.155 mil, $9.35 mil guaranteed.

JJ Arrington traded for Joe Mays (ILB).

                                Maybe a day too early.

Moreno was carted off the field this morning and Buckhalter got hurt shortly thereafter.

Probably just being over cautious in training camp but you never know.
