    Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

I mention him (Torain) because that adds another back to our stable, I'm not campaigning for him lol. Jury is still out but if he's what he's supposed to be. that'll be a nice complement to Pittman and potentially take the starting role down the road. I called for Pittman to get the bulk of carries and he got our first 100 yd game on the ground, now only if the Broncos would hire me . Pittman is the starter and should be the rest of the season as long as he's healthy

Agreed on pounding the ball, we dont need an airshow every game and it keeps Slowik & Co. off the field. Those first few games made everyone expect us to have a Colts show

What I'm worried about the most is our reciever core being injured. Royal and his ankle sprain, Stokely and his 10th concussion, Jackson's nagging injury.

Av mentions Torrian again, I sure hope he is all that he is expected to be. Could you imagine the national media who knows nothing about him yet, and their reaction if he explodes onto the scene? More fodder for Shanahan-genius talk.

Talking about Pittman, he is running the ball like a man. Exactly what the Broncos need. I say feed it to him 30 times a game from here on out. Keep our defense off the field for jiminy sakes.
I think Shanahan is worried about overusing Pittman. I think he is more valued for his other utility than he is for his running. In fact, I think the Jax DLine was one reason that Pittman played a lot. He is very good blocker.

I think if theres anyone who is going to get 30 per game, its going to be that folk hero, Ryan Torain.

Embarrassing last night, I turned it off after 20-0 with 4 turnovers. Nothing really else to say

104.3 The Fan sports radio all day has been talking about the Broncos and defense. Minus Jim Rome, the new schedule I'm really enjoying.

          It's been tossed around that
          1) focus draft picks on defense; limit free agency signings (Haynesworth was mentioned as an option, dont see that happening), farm playmakers instead
          2) dont fire Slowik, keep the same scheme for more than 1 season to get some consistency
          3) Drastic, but if KC for some reason released their coordinators (Gunthar Cunningham), pick him up immediately.

Personally as the season goes on, I think its more on the players than Slowik. We're not making tackles, the dline for the most part have not been helping out the coverage. One common theme- this will have to be remedied in the offseason

Champ out for up to 6 weeks, Boss out for the season, Ramsey out. Cutler better be healed or the Darrell Hackney era will begin. I will tell you, 6-10 may be overly optimistic now.

Champ will be greatly missed, Boss - not so much. Boss is hurt every game of almost every drive it seems so Broncos should've had a backup plan ready to go.

Jack Williams is 5'9, a rookie. I wish we kept onto Foxworth, atleast he knows the system. I'll be pretty upset come draft day if we dont spend our first three picks on defense.

I think Cutler will be ok for the Miami game, the gameplan will possibly change to a 1:1 ration imo. Its amazing what its like not being a bandwagon team on ESPN, you dont see them flooding the news about Cutlers finger like they did for Romo- I prefer it that way

As much as I agree about ESPN, it is a little different. The Cowboys looked like the best team in football on paper (or 2nd best next to the Pats... after Brady went down they looked even better). So the loss of Romo was a bigger deal than the loss of Cutler when the Broncos have looked good but not expected to take it all at this point. Plus, Romo was said to be out for a month while Cutler finished the entire game and is questionable to start this coming week.

Cutler could lose his hand in woodshop and that would get an NFL ticker on the bottom lol. ESPN caters to the teams they like, it's nothing new and doesnt bother me at all. For the most part, Broncos mind their business and dont go out in the celebrity life style so that helps the lowkey status

I like under the radar, Cutler ruined it when he mentioned Elway's arm.

I still laugh about the fact Boss Bailey's *** has been hurt in every game and now he's done.. so soft. Time to scout the new draft class

Well, a rough few games in general. Just wondering, are any of you guys questioning Cutler's leadership and passing skills? I was over at the Broncos message board (which was probably a mistake in the first place) but they all seemed like Cutler won't be the one because he isn't a leader. Thoughts? (I obviously think Cutler will be the one for a looonnnnggg time)

Cutler is the face and leader of that offense, no question imo. Those fans on the Broncos boards need to worry about who will be the leader on defense with Champ Bailey out or its going to be a long, long season. DJ Williams is the closest to being that guy.

AV said it all, and exactly what I was going to say. If you go back to the Elway years (sorry, I have to do it) before the Super Bowl wins, the Broncos had a salty defense, i.e., Mechlenberg, Rulon Jones, Dennis Smith, etc. During the Super Bowl years, there definitely was a defense. Elway had defensive support his whole career.

This team has no defensive identity, even with a healthy Champ Bailey and DJ Williams. I believe the identity was lost when Al Wilson went down. It is unfair to cast Cutler off as not having the leadership ability. When the day comes that there is a defense that doesn't rank 30th in the league, it will be seen just how special Cutler is. Who knows if he will achieve what Elway did, but you never know.

100% agree. How much was Cutler's finger hurting last night? Has there been any update?

Oh, and I was too frustrated to even notice, but did Moss play any LB Monday? Will he get a shot now that Bailey is done? I think it could be an interesting move and would like to see what would happen.

No word on Cutler's finger really.

Jarvis Moss wont be starting by a long stretch where Bailey was (he did play in the Pats game, got credited for 1/2 sack).. Jamie Winborn or Wesley Woodyard will be getting Bailey's looks. Woodyard from preseason (I believe) was praised as an all around great defensive player.

Broncos added a wide reciever, Chad Jackson, along with a few other guys today.

Hopefully he works out with no injuries
