    Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

Man oh man what a friggen game. I got there a little too late to really check out the stadium (I-25 has some road work sign despite no work being done, delayed us 45 minutes)

It was weird how everyone around us knew that we were going to be there instead of our family friend, the atmosphere was simply awesome along with the weather. I'll upload my pics from the game in a bit.

Cant believe we're on our 7th RB now this season.

Edit- I really hope our major move in free agency will be after Haynesworth if he is available.

11 carries for 36 yards for LJ, great game for defense allowing 10 points.

I'm interested in Woodyard possibly putting on weight and gaining strength this offseason to transition to the middle, just dont know how he'll be after that. Either way, he needs to add some more weight imo.

Edit- sounds like Woodyard after this season will get a look at strong side

Loaded up photos from the game last night.

Magic Number: 1 win or San Diego loss/tie

        Injury Update

        http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3754789

Peyton Hills is done for the season, IR today
Denver Broncos running back Peyton Hillis will miss the rest of the season with a strained right hamstring. Hillis is expected to be placed on injured reserve Monday.

Hillis was hurt during the Broncos' 24-17 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, finishing with eight rushes for 58 yards and catching one pass for 11 yards. Tatum Bell replaced Hillis.
Did we build on some ancient burial grounds or something? Ridiculous we've lost this many guys within one position

Losing Hillis is a big deal, but not nearly as impactful as saying the Bears losing Forte. Simply because of our scheme and our replacment in Selvin Young (fingers crossed he is physically capable to handle 15+ carries in the playoffs)

What's your source? I would really like to see that happen. D.J.-?? in the middle-Woodyard would be awesome. Bailey didn't impress me one bit this year.

You think the Broncs would be ok with Bailey and his salary sitting on the bench next year???

Thanks, it was half time and got on my phone for a bit to try and find injury updates.

Imo, Selvin Young shouldn't get more than 5-10 carries fresh off a groin pull. The Cleveland game still bugs me, we didnt need him to play and that one carry really set him back. There were 3 or 4 guys being looked at today to run the ball, don't recall their names atm

The one option that could work is DJ - Larsen - Woodyard. Boss Bailey can sit on the bench, he's always taking himself out of a game anyway lol.

Ohhhh ok. Didn't think of that. I pictured you there on a laptop for some reason .

Didn't understand the Cleveland game either.

I agree with you on Selvin Young, but for the playoffs he should be the primary back.

Yeah, I don't know what to think of the Larsen and Hillis situation for next year. If Hillis is HB then Larsen will be FB, but if Hillis is HB Larsen should be MLB. So, who knows. Larsen impressed me more at FB then at MLB. I see Hillis at FB at the start of next season, however.

For the Haynesworth comment. I agree, but don't see how Tennesee could let him get away, and why Albert would leave. I take it you see Robertson the odd man out at DT?? Not Thomas right?

                    Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

If we somehow got Haynesworth to come out here, Dewayne would be the odd man out. The interesting thing about Dewayne, I dont believe he'll meet the requirement(s) for Jets to get a better draft pick (I believe we gave them a mid to late round pick and scaled with # of plays?)

If Haynesworth is a no-go, then with what wwharton said we need to get Scott if he's the odd man out.

Hillis, barring any injury, is the man built for this offense. He can run it and catch out of the backfield despite any formation. Hopefully this freakish year of injuries will make up for the next 10 years.

This offseason has the making of a very busy one; the first round pick I'm interested in what position we take but no matter what it'll work. I believe Alabama has a big DT we could use?

                      Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

It is voodoo man. I would like to see who is using voodoo on our beloved Broncos. Man, unbelievable. Logan said on the radio telecast on the Hillis injury(I listen to the radio feed and watch the muted tv) that there is good news. The preliminary report on Hillis was a hamstring; better than hearing about a knee. Well that preliminary report didn't turn out too well. Holy crap!

I am still at a loss about Young. All week Sirius said he was going to get some looks vs the Chiefs. So maybe some cautioned was actually used instead of recreating the Cleveland situation.

Cory Boyd is elevated from the practice squad. Typical Shannahan guy. 7th round choice from TB, cut and gobbled up by the Broncos (he was actually always on the Broncos radar). Good numbers out of South Carolina, good size, but how quickly will he learn the offense? Daunting I would say.

Left standing is Tatum Bell and PJ Pope. Bell ran well on some carries but other carries it looked as if he were saving himself for the Cellphone gig. PJ Pope is tiny. At best he can be counted on for just a couple of carries. I can't see him contribute much. Stating the obvious, but Selvin Young's groin needs to be 100% very quickly.

Probably see a creative gameplan this week vs Carolina. Lots of waggles and using Marshall and Royal in the running game. I have such a confidence in the oline, I think Cutler would be ok throwing the ball 60 times...but gawd I hope not.

You have to be impressed with the D. Holding LJ to under 40 yards was a huge accomplishment.

The key yesterday was TOP for the Broncos. They controlled the ball and set the tone.

Finally, loved those orange jerseys. On high def yesterday they looked marvelous. Probably better in person eh Av? Broncos keep playing like that at home with you there, we got to keep finding ways to get you out there.

Boyd will definitely need a crash course on the offense and blocking schemes. Spencer Larsen after Hillis went down I guess was getting a quick lesson from Selvin on blocking assignments. Such a weird season you cant do anything but just laugh.

When I got inside, I was pretty shocked they were wearing the orange jerseys.. the closest we'll get to the throwbacks. 2-0 at home with them this season, keep on wearing em. I have no complaints of going to every game, it could be -20 and I'll still go

I don't like to talk about the offseason during the regular season (especially when we're going to the playoffs), but it seems as if the mood is the offseason will be a failure unless we get a good, maybe elite, free-agent signing.

Little late but heres the roster moves after Hillis had the 3 inch tear in his hamstring

The Broncos made some roster moves Tuesday afternoon.

They put running back Peyton Hillis on injured reserve. He suffered a torn hamstring in Sunday's win over Kansas City. Hillis is the fifth Denver tailback and 14th Bronco overall to be sent to the IR this season. As expected, the team promoted running back Cory Boyd from the practice squad to take Hillis' place.

Boyd, a rookie from South Carolina, is expected to be in the tailback mix down the stretch along with Tatum Bell, Selvin Young (who could play Sunday at Carolina for the first time since suffering a groin injury in early October) and P.J. Pope.

Also, Denver signed guard Pat Murray from Seattle's practice squad and cut safety Calvin Lowry. Lowry started three games this season after being claimed off waivers from Tennessee. He became expendable with Josh Barrett's strong play.

One move I have been in a way expecting was a change at the kicker position...then I did some research. Prater is kicking 38% from 40-49 yards. 100% from 50 yards plus, and 86% from 20-39 yards.
A simple fix, go for it when the ball is on the 23-32 yard line Plus, his kickoffs are explosive, no need to carry a kickoff specialist.
