Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
So, Broncs are strictly running a 34 defense? Not a hybrid 34-43? Didn't count one 43 defense with the 1st D
Thoughts on preseason:
The D finally looks like a D is supposed to look. Running down hill. There are twice as many Bronco jerseys around the the ball then there were last year. The group of unknown players on the D line might just work. Guys with something to prove. The 3 LB spots that are locked up are very solid players. The secondary will be fine especially with Dawkins bringing energy and attitude that is going to be a huge difference maker. Champ Bailey is definitely not the best CB in the league anymore, i'd even take Revis and Samuel over Champ. Age and injuries are weighing in.
I'm neither impressed or unimpressed by the offense really. Nothing to say that hasn't been said already except that the combo of running some zone running schemes along with the complicated passing scheme can be very effective. Now opposing D coordinators will have trouble preparing for both unorthodox styles.
Josh McDaniels...I can say plenty of bad things about the guy, but the one thing that I do admire about him is winning. That's all the guy talks about...that's all he cares about. He has more passion for winning then any other young coach i've seen. Gotta love it.
Broncs making the playoffs? Going 8-8? Top 5 draft pick? I don't know and I am not even gonna begin to make a prediction. Just gonna sick back and enjoy the new look Denver Broncos.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Dang, I was looking forward to having two Colquitt's in the AFC West. Would have made for some humorous Chiefs/Broncos games.
"Colquitt, runs out there to punt"
3 plays later
"Colquitt, back on the field...wait a minute"
Okay, maybe not all that humorous, but it still would have been cool.Comment

BTW, if you haven't seen Rick Reilly's newest column, it is quite true and appropriate. Check it out here: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/colum...ick&id=4439324Last edited by Hammerhunker; 09-04-2009, 08:31 AM.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Denver Broncos Vs Arizona Cardinals
I will start by saying this will be a short review, however I will also discuss the recent cuts. To be honest I was not expecting anything from this game, due to the back-ups playing the majority of the game. I was excited to see how Brandstater would perform.
The First Quarter began with a good drive by the Broncos which included a great pass from Brandstater to Chad Jackson for 43 yards. I was disappointed Jackson seemed to slow up and try to cut back across the field, I think he would have been better off just running north/south. Buckhalter had two great runs during the drive and in the end it was Matt Prater hitting a 26 yard field goal to give the Broncos a 3-0 lead. On the Cardinals first possession the Broncos defense held even after allowing a 36 yard pass from Warner to Fitzgerald. I will say it did appear to be a block in the back on that play but oh well Broncos still held. Later in the first quarter I was extremely impressed with Brandon Lloyd once again as he went up and fought for a pass thrown from Brandstater before being forced out at the 1 yard line. Reminded me of his catch last week where he lost his helmet at the 1 yard line making a similar catch. Two plays later Walker was able to score from 1 yard out to extend the Broncos lead to 10-0. This would conclude the scoring for the first quarter, however Reid was able to pick of Warner just prior to the end of the first.
The Second Quarter began with two short runs and then another Matt Prater field goal from 37 yards out to put the Broncos up 13-0. After the Broncos were able to force Leinart into a three and out, the Broncos went on an 11 play drive resulting in a 35 yard field goal from Matt Prater making the score 16-0. On the following Cardinals possession Leinart was intercepted by David Bruton. Bruton was able to to return the interception to the Arizona 11. The Broncos were not able to capitalize on this as they were stopped on fourth down. Prior to the end of the second quarter Brandstater was intercepted by Michael Adams while trying to force the ball into Jackson. The Broncos would go into the half up 16-0.
The Third Quarter began with a Cardinals possession which ended with Fox picking off Palko for the Broncos 4th force turnover. The Broncos were able to capitalize with a 46 yard field goal by Prater to entend the Broncos lead to 19-0. That would be the last score of the third quarter. Neither team would have a drive of 5 or more plays for the remainder of the third quarter.
The Fourth Quarter began with a Cardinals 12 play drive that stalled on the Broncos 35 yard line after a failed 4th down conversion. There was no scoring in the fourth quarter. However the Broncos defense was very consistent throughout the fourth quarter to preserve the shutout.
Overall for the game I was very impressed with Brandstater, and the more I see of Lloyd the more I like. I understand he has had his issues in the past staying out of the coaches dog house but if he can I definitly see him being a huge contributor on offense. Also was very happy with the Broncos ability to force turnovers.
As for team cuts I will start with the one I was clearly disappointed in which was Darius Walker. I really like his running ability and wish the Broncos would have cut Jordan instead, but hey I am not in practice so I can only judge off of game film. I was not shocked by any of the other cuts, and very pleased with the aquisition of DL Vonnie Holliday.
Well its on to the regular season. Until next time yall take care.Texas A&M Aggies

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Richard Quinn was arrested last night:
Rookie tight end Richard Quinn was arrested Monday and is currently in the Arapahoe County jail on a harassment charge related to domestic violence.
Quinn is being held without bond on a charge of harassment – obstruction of phone services/domestic violence and will appear before a judge at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
According to an Arapahoe County Sheriff’s report, Quinn’s girlfriend called 911 from a neighbor’s house after the couple got into an argument. She told deputies that Quinn “grabbed her and shook her to the ground” and took her cell phone away to prevent her from calling police.
According to the report, Quinn admitted to taking the phone, but said he only grabbed the girlfriend after she “started hitting him in the face.”
The report says that Quinn had no sign of injuries to his face.Rookie Richard Quinn arrested : First-and-Orange is the authority on the latest breaking news and analysis about the Denver Broncos, written by Troy E. Renck, Nicki Jhabvala and other Denver Post sports writers. Colorado
