I agree, but who's going to give up a 7th for a QB that's on the decline? All the teams who might be interested have already gotten a younger, less expense rookie or back up. Tell me one team willing to give up something for him?

My friend and I were just talking about this yesterday. If he can be rebuilt, Sanchez still has value. Take a team like the Vikings. At his best, he's better than Ponder. Does that say much? No. Is Sanchez at his best right now? Of course not. But he's worth a 7th rounder to find out I'd think.

You never know. The Bengals fleeced the Raiders for Carson Palmer.

A team without a viable backup QB could see their starter go down with an injury.

I just think you don't cut a guy just for the sake of cutting him unless he becomes a distraction or something. Especially to take such a large cap hit for it.

I don't think there will be any takers for Sanchez. But getting rid of him for nothing at this point of the offseason doesn't make sense.

Understandable, but lets be realistic. If they really thought they could get something for him don't you think they were already looking? Especially after drafting Geno, they had to be thinking they could get something.

He's more desirable after this year, contract wise. Do I really think they will get something? No, but I also didn't think Geno Smith would drop to the 2nd round either. Crazy things happen.

Can NFL teams agree to pay some of a player's contract when trading them away?

51 million in free cap? I hope they dont go spend crazy next year. Thats one of the things that crippled them in the past.

I don't see Idzik doing that. Also I don't see next year's free agency class being that great any way. Orakpo could he intriguing if he makes it though.

Re: Official New York Jets Thread

I do not like this idea at all.

As far back as the scouting combine in February, Rex Ryan started dropping hints about Quinton Coples becoming more of an edge player. He'll be on the edge, all right. Coples, used mostly as an interior lineman as a rookie, will be moved to 3-4 outside linebacker, according to a league source.

Ryan uses multiple fronts, so it's quite possible Coples will be deployed as a down lineman in certain situations. But the plan, for now, is to stand him up. The former first-round pick was listed at 290 pounds last season, so he will have to drop weight to play linebacker, which requires some pass-coverage responsibilities.

This helps explain why the Jets were so hot for DT Sheldon Richardson, their second pick in the first round. Now there's an opening on the line for Richardson, who projects as a Day 1 starter.

Coples, the 16th overall pick in 2012, led the team with 5.5 sacks even though he played in only 47 percent of the defensive snaps.
Coples is too big and slow to play standing up. Why bring back Pace?

A front 4 of Mo, Sheldon, Kendrick and Quinton can be nasty in a 4-3.

                      I don't get it.

I say cut Mark Sanchez this week. He's clearly not the player that the Jets expected him to be. Turn him loose and let him revive his career with the Bills or something.

Even with Sanchez hurt and Mac gone, my years dealing with this team makes it shaky at best that I trust Geno Smith will start Week 1.

I won't believe it till I see it.

No love for the Jets. Ryan has gotten this collection to win 7 maybe 8 games depending upon which Dolphin team shows up this weekend.

Since he hasn't gotten extended yet I am betting that they were going to lower the boom on this guy regardless of how much he was able to do with this motley crew. Most projected 3-5 wins tops.

He's got a big mouth but he deserved better.
