I agree with you guys. I'm just not sold on Smith and Rodgers. Also I'm hearing Smiths agent may be trying to blackball the niners

Re: Official San Francisco 49ers thread
I just read the San Francisco Chronicle and they said the Niners are practically set on taking Aaron Rodgers
If the rumors are true (and when are they ever?), the 49ers' first draft-day decision is all but made.
Yeah, yeah, it's Aaron Rodgers, fine, great, big surprise, nice work boys and good luck with that elusive third win this season.
Ahh, but the Raiders -- now that's a different story. In fact, it's no story at all.

Re: Official San Francisco 49ers thread
So Niner fans the time is almost here..I have not been this excited about the teams direction in about two seasons now. I feel a new breeze, I smell fresh air, the scent is lovely and whoever the 49ers end up taking, rather is #1 overall or they trade down ( I hope!) I will be excited and happy that this team is finnaly heading towards the right direction again.Comment

Re: Official San Francisco 49ers thread
I will be happy Dookie with this draft under Nolan as long as we dont take Smith from Utah. Anyone else I will be happy with. I really hope we can trade down and pick up either Rolle or Carlos Rogers so shore up our secondary.Comment

Re: Official San Francisco 49ers thread
So its Alex Smith, guess your not too happy huh Kenage?
Im not disapointed in the pick of Alex Smith. It seems like he is the QB most teams want (doesnt mean he will be the best, but I have faith in Nolan and company) but as you see Rodgers is falling and falling. I think his stock was up there some because the Niners showed so much intrest at the number 1 spot. I promise Smith wouldnt drop past 5.
I am disapointed because a trade didnt happen..Niners need a lot of help and it would of been best. Hopefully like Nolan said, Smith is the face of the franchise and ends up being a good one.
Now who will be the 2nd round pick..?Comment

Re: Official San Francisco 49ers thread
Smith does not deserve Eli money, no way.
I never bought into all the hype he's been getting, but it's a weak draft, what can you do. I would have taken any kind of a deal that would have gotten two first round picks, but who knows if that was even available.
I wish him well because I want the team to succeed, but he's going to have to grow on me.Comment

Re: Official San Francisco 49ers thread
From scouts.com
The 49ers sent a message to mercurial tailback Kevan Barlow with their first third-round pick Saturday, and it will be delivered by University of Miami product Frank Gore. “I know Kevan Barlow, he’s a pretty good back,” Gore said. “I don’t doubt no man. I’m going to respect him and I’m going to try to learn from him. But I’m also going to try to come in and compete to be the starting guy, you know? I’m going to come there and play off the bat right now.”Comment

Re: Official San Francisco 49ers thread
Check this article out. Rice wants to come back, Nolan doesnt want him back. Nolan doesnt anticipate signing Boston

Re: Official San Francisco 49ers thread
The Niners 2nd round pick David Baas will compete at RG with Eric Heitman. He can also play Center.
"Power and aggression and toughness is my game," he said. "I love to get after people. So I'm ready to go; I'm fired up."Comment

Re: Official San Francisco 49ers thread
Peter King said..
I think I would like to publicly compliment Mike Nolan, the 49ers coach and draft czar, for bucking the trend of men in charge of drafts who either lie to throw you off the scent or who give the people who cover this league (see below) such a stonewalling. Nolan doesn't give anything away, but at least he treats the media (well, at least me and a couple of peers of mine) with respect and courtesy that is rare in the business these days -- especially around this time of year. I don't often credit guys for being decent people, because that's what you're supposed to be in this world. But I have to give Nolan a nod because his cooperation over the entire draft process has been exceedingly decent while not compromising the job he has to do for his team.
Frank Gore at 65? A steal, Niners.Comment
