I did not play last years version but this I totally agree with after playing until 5 am last night

I like the puck being a bit more loose. If it's like this by default on hardcore then we should be able to get our offline games a bit more sloppy than years past.

It's great that the passes can't get through legs and sticks. Active sticks are solid.

For the clubs with 2,3,4 guys playing. I honestly think the AI is good. Don't have to call for the puck. Skate to space and they move it 90% of the time.

it totally feels like you are playing hardcore simulation of years past by default the way it moves. Keep in mind the last NHL i played was on PS3 EASHL... so maybe I'm just not use to it yet but the control is not like it was in the olden days. there is for no pin point passing or super fast guys with great agility.. this game seems a lot harder for me to get down and I have been playing NHL since it started. Even playing goalie is harder now to me.. it's a lot more touchy and going from post to post hugging it is way harder now and I can see how wrap around right now on human goalies should be easy for awhile until goalies figure this out because it's not easy.

I'm playing d and I have blown some guys up in front of the net and other times I bounce off them. Also have taken too many penalties . Some calls against have just flat out not occurred lol but to the box I go!

I have only played out with builds as playmaker and power forward and in goal as hybrid and butterfly. but I will say while playing out on RW with power forward and playmaker I did not get one hit in the 5 games I played. It was impossible to check with that so yeah today i'm going to try out grinder and d builds to see if I can hit.

I don't know how you could say the poke check is over-powered. If you spam it you get a penalty, and if you don't time it right you don't do much at all.

It seems tougher to use now, but more rewarding.

Perhaps you're just using a player with low stick handling skills?

Maybe I need to play more games. I found that skating into the zone if you entered anywhere inside the ai's sphere of influence you would get poked and lose the puke. Conversely, when back-checking it's far too easy to time your poke-check stick side on an attacker and poke it away.

I have played nhl games since the early 90's so maybe I am just too used to using the poke appropriately, without drawing a penalty. Just found it was far too easy take advantage of.

You should be able to do hit as a power forward. I played a couple games as a PF and rocked a few guys.

After playing about a dozen games and watching about the same amount of streams/youtube vids,I found that the RD's(yellow) icon and to some extent the LD's (teal) are not as sharp as the forwards or the goalies;they seem more blured.

Anyone complaining about CPU AI in EASHL needs to understand that teams with 6's will be at an advantage. CPU teammates in EASHL are purposely lower rated. Always have been.

The way it should be.

I finally played two games and we had 4 humans in the first and it was damn fun.

If you have teammates that pass and work the puck you can have a great time. I found the poke check to already be much better than last year....I felt rewarded for a well timed check and in good position.

Our AI teammate was adequate but not a star....which is the point of the mode.....rolling with teams of 5 or 6 will be the norm....past versions of EASHL a two man team could really dominate out there......not saying that could still happen....but its going to be much harder.

Going to play some more but so far liking it a ton.

Please try to avoid calling others out for "troll" posts. If you really feel something is trolling then just report it. In this case, I don't see much trolling. It's perhaps a very specific observation, but it's not trolling.

played my first game today...EVER!

Game is slower which I like...less arcade-y. Passing and pass/puck pickups are pretty random, which I don't like. It seems that once again short passes are the least accurate.

Skating is going to take some getting used too....sometimes it is pretty unresponsive which is frustrating.

Shooting is toned down which is cool, but I have seen some slappers that were floaters that were pretty unrealistic.

Obviously a work in progress, but a good start.

Played a lot today.

It's like something happened server wise. Did they tweak some things?

Goalies all over most top shelf stuff today. Which all in all is a good thing.

Few of the player builds felt different, skating etc.

Input lag is brutal, see posts of that elsewhere. Passing has always been my speciality and when I struggle to move the puck something is not right. Hopefully this gets addressed.

I feel if they bump puck control a tad and fix the input lag the game will be about as good as they can get it without a complete ground up rebuild.

Finished the night off in D2..

Had a blast tonight playing with the OS guys in OS East.

Earlier in the day one of the groups of guys I played with said I was the best RD they'd played with all weekend, which just left me shocked and very happy.

Had a good group at the end of the night, with some guys playing goalie which was fun. I tried for the 3rd time and got absolutely brutalized. How I went from stopping 30 of 33 to this brutal beating I'll never know.

I did get to play with JYoung for my final game of the night and he taught me a few things about vision control on offense and I ended up with a goal and 4 assists to be the #1 star of the game, which again made me a very happy dude.

My biggest issue is goalie movement, especially on and off the post. It feels inconsistent atm.

I'm really enjoying the beta. I played a few games of online vs on NHL 15, and 16 just feels so much better.

Just the unpredictableness of the puck is so refreshing. Sure there's a few things that could be nitpicked but as a whole I find the game enjoyable.

Played my first game yesterday and I'm not sure how I feel about the skating. I find the response to be laggy at best and playing D essentially forces you to move very little as the player has a tendency to over skate everything.

Shooting was terrible, just terrible. I took a forehand wrist shot from the blue line and the puck essentially slid at a snail's pace all the way to the goalie. Do players in the NHL have noodle arms now? Shooting felt laggy too BTW...It felt as though there was a delayed reaction to my flicking the analog stick and then seeing my player shoot the puck.

Passing was your typical passing in an EA hockey game. Not great. Inaccurate and weak passes were all over the place. Worse than that though was the puck control...or lack there of. So many pucks would simply bounce off their target. It was shameful honestly. I mean EA does realize that even though you're not playing with Ovechkin, technically your avatar in an NHL player and pretty much ALL pro hockey players can take a pass...right??

I'm not saying that it was terrible, but I felt that the controls were sluggish and slow to respond. I'll play a few more games and see how I really feel about this. Right now, I'm somewhat underwhelmed.
