Even to the point where your goalie let's in a soft goal and with the tape to tape passing you know it's coming.

Maybe I should just get NBA 2k and force myself to like basketball.
IMHO, get the NBA 2k...its easy to like this game. I dont like watching basketball, but the way 2K present the game, EA's NHL is primitive.

Back to the OP, maybe the reason why this series is dying because of us too. Why people keep buying this product when EA hasnt proved anything since 2009 (IMHO) is beyond me. I just rented this game since "14 and in few days, I just returned it to GF...because its the same old game.

        I might do that...

After deleting everything again last night.. I installed the game again and newest tuner and then played a game on AS/Hardcore defaults with just a couple of little changes.

I know this is INSANITY.. but I had a really enjoyable game, won my opener 3-2 over Edmonton. The game felt like hockey and nothing felt scripted or cheated.

How come this game can be great at times and then next game you're like what the heck just happened?

Penalties all the way up (all 3 sliders), penalty time scaling one click up to the middle (7 min periods), faceoff difficulty +1, fighting +1, CPU strategy adjustment -1 to 2 (middle). I think that's about it. Back to using the default dynamic medium camera too.

Beat Minnesota 5-3 but it was one heck of a hard hitting game.

I'm sure frustration will set in soon.. but I'm playing it for what it is and hopefully it continues to make me want to play just one more game. Maybe the tuner is helping.. who knows.

Yep, same thing here. I end up out of frustration back to pretty much default setting and experience a truly fun and challenging game. Next game....the BS cpu hyper drive is back and so ls the frustration. I think momentum is a good addition to the game, but just overdone and clown like far too often.

I don't know if mentioned this anywhere other my slider thread. I have found that if you restore the default settings then either play as is or tweak, you get a decent game and all games following are garbage. I restore to default and re-enter my sliders prior to every game. I know it makes little sense but it works for me and I actually did this with NHL14 (barely played 15) as well and it worked then also. I actually started a Season this way and had 4 great games and stats were solid as were penalties. Thanks to EA stashing stuff in roster updates though I need to start my season over.

As someone who attended Community Day for NHL10, I hate to say that this series has spun in place for many years. Regardless of the community events and game changers, the same problems continue to haunt this series and aren't addressed. Core gameplay issues that really prevent this series from moving forward from a gameplay standpoint. For example, how many years have we given feedback on the lack of penalties?

Instead, time and resources are spent on card packs and HUT. Or worse yet, re-introducing game modes that were in the game previously (like season mode, other leagues, etc). Where is the innovation in this series?

Where are the penalties? The player differentiation that we have all asked for? Rinse and repeat.

Let's face it, the lack of competition has dragged this series to a halt.

Re: Why this series is dying

It's stagnant and dying because it has no competition. There's no urgency to make a better game than the competitor. So what you have is a game that the first year it went next gen; they literally stripped the game and shipped it bare-bones. So they've settled and so have we -- for tweaks instead of changes or innovation. I'll be shocked if NHL 17 is much different than 16 and I hope I'm shocked. Maybe one day.

100% agree! EA GameChanger is only one big and expensive Marketing Nonsens.

I would, at the very least, like them to just focus on a game that feels GOOD to control. Make skating, passing, stick handling and goaltending feel sublime. Right now, it's a case of fighting your controller for 25 minutes. Just make the core controls feel good and responsive and I can forgive a lot more of the other junk.

And locked. You guys had some very interesting and productive conversation going (which I hope to see picked up in another thread), but a few users undo most of it.

Bans will be handed out shortly in an effort to keep the constructive conversation going and the trolling out of it.
