I hope the goalie animations cut-down the amount of "shot hits the stick, flips in a perfect arc 10 feet in the air over the goalie and goes in" goals. As a real-life goalie, those drive me absolutely insane when I see them...

Where's the features we have been asking for Custom music? Roster Sharing? smarter AI by your computer Team mates? Etc. Lets fix the actual game first then paint it. You don't paint the car before you do the body work. I'm not telling you to hold out from buying the game cause im sure you gave them your money already for NHL20, and that's ok cause you don't seem to complain about the game either, this challenge is for the offline gamers who aren't happy with a painted pig
Really? Custom music?? If that is number 1 complaint then the gameplay must good. Music choices for a hockey game should not make any list. Has nothing to do with playing hockey. Go to the Madden forums to see some real offline player complaints.

You are not getting his point, plus he points out the game play. Last gen has custom music and it should have never been taken out in the first place.

            Re: Offline Fans only

When the October tuner came out it was made clear that EA chose to dumb down defensive AI specifically to make players have to play all positions and not stay with one guy in the skill zone. This was a calculated decision and I think it's why people got ticked off. I know there's lots more people don't like but this alone was huge. I don't know if sliders can correct that change?
Anyway, I think the improved puck pickups and new shot animations and goalie animations should breathe a little fresh air into the game. Also pumped about the Trade Finder as I got tired of looking for a deal after a while.
Then again, this is the ONLY game I play so buying it is an automatic

I’ve also bought the game as soon as it comes out for the last few years but after finding custom sliders/rosters on here NHL 19 feels like a whole new game and will certainly feel better than 20 when it comes out. Think my plan this year is to play 19 until 20 is on deep discount (maybe even free like 19 was with Xbox Live Gold a little bit ago) and by then I’ll probably have new rosters and sliders to use for that game.

Completely right ! Better to buy it as used very late, cause EA doesn’t deserve this business.

Me not anymore. If you buy this game late as used from private Ea doesn’t make business.

Does anyone know if NHL 20 contains Season Mode?
I am not refering to Franchise Mode, which is a different mode.
I like to select all 31 teams and keep the trades to add close to real life (I don't want the CPU to be able to trade etc, I realise I am in the minority that pays Season mode)
                    Thank you all.

Well, it was in 19, so I assume it will be in 20. But with EA you never know...

Me too, but will buy it as used on deep discount that EA doesn’t make any business with me. There are enough people they buy on release date and found out that the game is more or lesser crap, than they will sell it.

                          Re: Offline Fans only

I was at a friend's house the other night and he only has a 360. We popped in NHL 14 (a game I really did not care for online as I found the defensive side of the game to be nerfed) and holy cow I was so impressed with the offline AI!

Granted, the difficulty in going back lead to a lot of my mistakes but my teammate AI actually did something which is a huge change of pace from 19! Blocked shot, my nearest AI teammate (when it made sense I should add) would actually sprint for the puck like the CPU AI players do! I could actually just play as the RD (sometimes I do this when the CPU gets in robo-pass mode to cover the backdoor) and unlike 19, my AI continued to pressure the puck carrier AND stay in a responsible position. Imagine that!? Just goes to show how much the HUT community has ruined the offline experience, as the dumbing-down of the AI is clearly a global edit, and us offliners pay the price so content creators can wiggle, spin, and snipe the same shot 5 times in-a-row.

The shooting and the animations are worse than 19, but the deking is SOOOO much more fun. I was always a competitive 6s dman so I never really loved pulling dekes off, but man oh man was it fun last night doing the seemingly endless amount of possible dekes the old system had to offer!

To top it off, TPS was not nearly as clunky in the 360 era as it was on the X1 era. This was something I already believed, but playing it only reinforced the idea.

TL;DR version: I played an old-gen game that I wasn't a fan of and walked away feeling disappointed at how many good things we lost in this generation of NHL games.

Skating in 13 was awesome. They killed it slowly, when they had to build on it and improve it.

Now they are killing the authentic real-time presentation they started with NHL 13 instead of finishing it.

This is the 1st year of going back to cutscenes, unrealistic chase replay cameras and over the top commentary.
Yay, the future is not bright for a sim crowd when you have ex Need for speed (the recent ones) guy in charge of the NHL game.

We are not going forward, we are going literally back, just the rendering engine stays current.

Yeah, I remember from seeing your posts over the years that me and you have always been on the same page with 13 being the best year for TPS. Somehow they got it right initially and slowly made it worse each year!

I remembered the first time I realized this about yearly sports games.
It was actually EA Hockey that made me realize each year is not an improvement. EA hockey, NHLPA93 and NHL94 where each an improvement on the previous game. Then came NHL95. It had season mode but gameplay just wasn't the same and graphics not as smooth.

Second big realization was FIFA RTWC 98. Every game up until that point was an improvement, however the engine "improvements" that they chose to make with World Cup 98 and FIFA 99 actually just made the gameplay worse and more repetitive. Also they removed the awesome RTWC mode.

Other companies, even though they also "break" good engines from time to time have a history of breaking them less imo. Konami and PES have been better at keeping improving, 2K aswell.
Now go play NHL Two K!
