The goaltending and gameplay engine has to be completely redone from ground up in order for me to buy this game.
Maybe we finally see boxscores for all franchise games. finally??
Hopefully we can edit players names? Finally.
Alot has to change for me to buy this game again.Comment

Re: NHL 22 Closed Technical Test Registration Open Now - Testing Begins Later This Mo
The defensemen in the offensive zone will stand still with zero momentum right until the puck carrier is about even with them and then they'll start moving because the default sliders that only allow puck carriers to go 50% of the speed as non-puck carriers + have acceleration at 50/100 + have attribute effects at 5/10 allow the AI to do this and recover. I have to have a pretty good "house ruleset" when it comes to exposing the AI down the wing and on rushes because the D just simply don't respect the carrier's speed early enough which means their gap control is off before it really even starts lol.
Then goalies, that's just a whole different conversation. Reactionary saves on rocket tips from 1-5 feet out, yet get beat from wrist shots top glove from the tops of the circle. Can change directions without planting their feet. Can gobble up one-timers on plays where they move through heavy screens and the shot is not placed center mass (should be some sort of rebound due to the fact that a blocking save should be used here). They still sprint out of the net on saucer passes that are caught right in-front of them which allows for easy empty net goals. They get beat on short-side shots with an off-wing shooter every single time as if goalies aren't taught to wait shooters out and force far-side in these situations.
The CaT suite + my imagination + the way I play is able to get some enjoyment out of this product. I don't find any other hockey games getting as close to the "complete product" if you will as NHL 21, but these two areas are very lacking and I believe they're very big sore spots on the series. I wish I could grab 2k goalies and paste them in here because with my sliders + house rules, I think it would be a very solid experience.Join the EVHL!

I started to sign up, then saw they only want people to play online in the beta. Since I am a strictly offline franchise guy, this isn't for me. And, sadly, this seems to indicate their priorities.Comment

Re: NHL 22 Closed Technical Test Registration Open Now - Testing Begins Later This Mo
I actually had more fun with 21 than any other game in the series because the neutral zone and D pressure was fixed a bit. It was forcing me to dump the puck in and really have fun with the game. However, then I found a game breaking bug where you can just slip down the side of the boards and the CPU D man can be right on top of you but they don't poke check or even attempt to do anything to get the puck. They just do this light body check that they miss. It's every single time and that's when I stopped playing. I don't remember the gameplay being like that when the game initially released but as time went on with patches and tuners I just felt like the game changed (shocker). That or I just didn't see the issue at the beginning.
I bet I put in close to 100 hours all offline when this game came out though. I completed probably 60 games in the first season with a Wild GM mode and re-built them essentially. The 2nd season I got about 10 games in. It was a ton of fun and then I found the issues. This game just always has a game breaking bug for me. I refuse to have house rules in order to play an NHL game (ie. no going down the side boards to avoid what I said above). It's one thing to have house rules for trades and things like that. If I have to do something game play wise because I can do the same damn thing over and over I just stop playing.NHL-Minnesota Wild
