Very true. I just wish they'd cut down on some of the physics-defying plays you can execute in that mode. They have the sliders to do so, they just choose not too. For me, it's very boring and shallow watching every team play the same exact way looking the same goals. Like, there's no depth to the 1v1s like both FIFA and PES are trying to do in their respective games. NHL is boring, mundane, hard collapse, LB in-front of your human goalie who is seemingly completely screened or never screened, no in-between, and then try to cover the jitterbug forwards who can sprint, turn, whirl, curl to their hearts desire and just hold RS up and launch a perfectly placed one-timer.
Seriously, it's so boring. No creativity, none of the little battles or small self-chips to make a play, buy space, no bumper passes to create a little room because it's not needed. Just RS curl and spin and wait for your forced pass and one-timer to "open" up. Hockey is just such a deep sport with so many impressive little plays and passes to buy time and space and that's just completely discouraged online because it's easier and more effective to run set plays like basketball where you're exploiting bad game mechanics/balancing than you are exploiting a bad read/position by the other team.
Idk how any watches or palys "competitive" EA NHL lol. It's just so shallow.
