My biggest pet peeve in the game is special teams. I can overlook a lot of the shortcomings of other areas but I hate not being able to actually set up and run a decent looking PP. It's just a hectic, chaotic mess. But outside of special teams, I've had a good time with the rest of the game. I'm a big hockey guy and avid beer leaguer so I get some of the gripes about the little nuances of the game but the game is fun outside of special teams to me.

Agreed, amazing feature! NHL could do a lot more to make the game more friendly to classic roster enthusiasts, but seeing very little changes over the years, I'm not holding my breath.

Any one know a way to make the CPU AI pressure you when enter The offensive zone? Too easy to skate into the zone on the wings. I want to have to dump and chase every once in a while. I turned cpu aggression slider up to 100 and still no luck.

After some 10 games in, here is my impressions.

                  + AI shoots on goal!
One of my biggest gripes with 24 was the endless steam of games with shots at 12-31 and scores at 6-4. Not anymore! On 7 min periods cpu shoots around 30-35 shots and my keeper in franchise is around 91-92%. Cpu shoots a lot of hopeless shots which is really positive. I HATED to hate my keepers in -24 with 85% save percentage.

+ you can turn of pressure meter.
This drove me crazy last year.

                  +better replays
You can actually see whats going on. Too many replays on tackles but I can live with that.

+ better tempo and overall feel of the game.
                  Not a revolution but better.

                  + franchise
Small changes but all the changes (so far) is for the better. I like to be able tonfall to players about season goals and i like to structure contracts. Much improved hub to easily se how your team compares to your opponent. Still much to be done about the mode but in my opinion, meaningful steps i the right direction.

                  - maybe the game is to sluggish on default?
                  - im not seeing the big grafical improvment everybody else seems to see.

                  - im not really noticing ICE-Q. Ai is better its not night and day.

                  - ai too easy? Only 7 games in to my franchise as the sabres, but feels weird to be 7-0 on superstar with cpu adjustment 6/6 with no sliders (except penaltys). Previous years i was as best a .500 team on superstar. Maybe the cpu have trouble to challenge on the slowed down pace and better goalies.

Overall i really like -25. Much MUCH möte enjoyable than-24 for me but i really hated the low % goalies, few shots and pressure meter and all of that got fixed.

It is still EA NHL but better than before.

Im really positive but i can see how other people arent impressed.

Liked the game a lot during Trial, but it was super easy on maxed out difficulty.

I think EA had a bug with CPU Difficulty slider not working, because after Day 1 patch game is much harder and now opponent skates faster than you (because i have CPU Difficulty slider at 6/6). I know patch notes dosent mention that "bug", but there was huge change on difficulty and how opponent CPU plays.

Finally i got two loses, CPU was challenging me on shots and time on attacks. Fun and tough games. I have still one hour left for trial version, so i will see tomorrow if it is still challenging. I might even buy the game now or just wait for first sale and see if EA fixes or will broke something of future patches.

We are going strong with the retail release.

The more I play the more addicted I become. I was hooked on 23 and now on 25 my addiction is even stronger.

The new conversation system is really good. I love how we can structure clauses now, encourage play style and position changes and set season goals as well as short term and long term season goals.

I will say it again the new franchise hib is a really large QOL improvement.

Gameplay though is shining. The CPU is noticeably smarter and aggressive on offense. My cpu teammates set themselves up much better in the offensive zone.

Really happy with the new replay angles.

Something I really hope they work on for next year is Authentic Network style presentation. The one thing I miss terribly from NHL 19 is that. It was top notch.

                      Please get back to that!!!!

Hey Ac3way ! Hope all is well. If the game is challenging for a player like you, they’ve must of done something really good with the AI 😀

As far as EA fixing things, I wouldn’t get my hopes up. I still see bugs from years past that have been flagged a long time ago, but still in the series.

How would you recommend a guy that hasn't played a hockey game in 10 years getting into the game?

I tried to jump into Play Now games, but it's hard to actually learn the game like that. Should I just go into Franchise mode and learn on the fly?

It's NHL 24 with features added to franchise and team creation that I'm sure people who like the micromanaging aspect will like (overwhelming conversation mode and tax rate options to start). And of course you can sort of play as Utah minus the Delta Center (apparently didn't get the rights and the arena looks nothing like it, they couldn't even get the scoreboard correct despite it being one of the default scoreboards) and the ability to either change the name and uni in the second season or even create a replacement team using names Yeti or Mammoth. And to just put the cherry on top the Tucson Roadrunners still have the Yotes patch on their jersey (ironically the only place that logo exists in the game). I guess the AI is better and the game is more polished but unless that is the only thing that bothered you about NHL 24 then you are better off at least waiting for 26 when hopefully Utah will have an actual name and EA gets permission to use the Delta Center in game.

They have great tutorials on gameplay and you would probably be served well to start on either Hybrid or the Skill Stick controller scheme (I personally use Skill Stick because I have been playing on it since NHL 19).

You will learn plenty in the training modes and you can have in screen helpers till you get totally comfortable.

Check out my Pro level “Average Joe” sliders which will also be less demanding on your stick skills.

I do play a totally clean screen….but that has nothing to do with the sliders themselves. It’s cosmetic.

Enjoy!!! It will be a huge upgrade for you if you have not played NHL for a decade.

Re: NHL 25 Early Access and EA Play Trial Available Today - Share Your Impressions

after playing extensively today .....the game has many improvements like I've mentioned before. Graphics are great, animations look better, crowd more alive. But there are some significant gameplay issues:

                                1) Scoring feels worse in nhl 25 because of how the goalie animations move way too fast. Their reflex is too quick and it doesn't make for a satisfying goal. It's not making it harder to score, but it feels cheaper and it makes it feel like you are beating an animation not the ratings of a goaltender.

For example: U have auston matthews shooting high glove right underneath the bar, in real life, the puck whould whizz so fast, that the puck goes ABOVE the glove because the goalie just wasn't quick enough. This is how it was in nhl 23/24.

But in nhl 25, the goalie's glove animation is SOO quick, that he overplays puck, so the puck goes underneath the glove. When the puck passes the goalie, the goalie's glove is ABOVE the cross bar.
If this happens rarely just like real life fine, but it happens way way too much and it's just not believable. practically every game has this goal. One game I scored 2 of these goals, and the cpu also scored 2. I tried putting goalie save reaction 0, 100, editing goalies down by 30 points in each of their high low glove/stick. Still there.

Same thing happens when you shoot blocker side, the blocker is so unrealistically quick, that the puck will go between the blocker and the goalie's body. Just not realistic at all. It's like the goalie is missing frames. I'm playing a game of nhl 24 and the cpu has scored 3 goals BEYOND the reach of goalie limbs, not between limbs like described above. This is a huge deal for me as it completely takes the joy of scoring when these instances happen. BTW I have my shot power slider at 68/100.

                                2) Lack of rebound goals....again this was NOT the case in NHL 24 but imo it is in nhl 25. It's either one timer, or clean goals and deflections. you can still score rebounds, but the feel is different and few and far between.

                                3) The one timer mechanic is absolutely not needed. It artificially reduces goalie ratings when you achieve the perfect one timer. Let it happen organically. Makes it feel too gamey.

                                4) This might not be a big deal to some, but to me it's also big. But cpu dmen offensive ai has taken a step backwards. A little too many one timers for my liking, and do not join the rush at appropriate time, and do not provide themselves as trailers like NHL 24. My favorite feature of NHL 24 was the revamped cpu dmen ai on offense. Perfection. went from 9/10 to 7.5/10. Still good, but a step back.

General cpu offense ai is also too shot happy even after turning down forward shot tendency in team strats. I can see this being fixed by individual player shot bias ratings however.

                                5) CPU is over reliant on hitting for defense. You can turn the hitting down, but still slightly overly aggressive. However, they do play a little tighter than NHL 24. I'm sure you can reduce the aggression slider, but maybe that will loosen the defense too much

The big issues are 1 and 4 for me.

Currently, I have to rate NHL 24 still the better version gameplay wise unless massive ratings edits can solve these issues. I really wanted to never see that pressure circle ever again. Sighhhh
