While it's clear you're trying to be sarcastic or funny I don't think you're following the conversation. In the game you hear the crowd chanting for a team that's not even playing in the game.....playing the Rangers vs Boston and hearing "Go Habs Go" is just flat out stupid, sloppy, and yes....it kills the immersion. That said this isn't just EA. In MLB the show you can be playing in Minnesota against the Guardians and they'll discuss crap like how Jose Ramirez hit his first HR right here in Yankee stadium.....it's all indicative of how they all no longer care about the offline gamer or creating a true sim sport. It's all about online and microtransactions.

No, I think it's you that isn't following the conversation. The post I was replying to said nothing about the crowd chanting a team name not playing in the game. Nor do I see that referenced anywhere else. I have played 2 full seasons and have never once heard a crowd chanting for a third team not playing in the game. My point is that there are a lot of posts complaining about how unrealistic it is to hear the crowd chanting for the away team....but it happens....a lot.

One Timer Accuracy slider don't matter. At 0, all "Green" One Timers still go in.

Crazy how they add a new feature like this but it doesn't take the actual slider into the equation.

        Ugh..

I’m currently testing goalie sliders to see if the save ones make any different at all.

I think the bigger problem I have with that goal is not tha fact that it went in. It was the goalie animation that made it look like he even had a chance to stop it. That puck went past 3 Lightning players and a Penguin in the slot before it even got to the shooter. I goalie in that situation probably expects the pass to the player in front and would most likely Butterfly to stop it only to then see it go past to the other player. You can see in the replay the goalie briefly go into the butterfly as the puck would be getting to the first Penguin and then just kind of "controller disconnected" across the crease, making it look like he was actually in a position to stop it when he in fact would not have been close or even better should have tried to execute a flailing save. I think that the animations need to be cleaned up a lot so that things that should happen look like they are actually happening and not happening. That play should be a goal 95% of the time but those animations make it look like it should be stopped 95% of the time.

That said, I agree that the sliders need to actually have the intended effect on the game that they should.

Decided I’m totally done with hockey games. Every game is bland and feels the same. All I’m doing is watching playing with different names and jersey colors. It’s the exact same game each time. So I’m finally just gonna walk away from this series with no regrets. EA is stale and repetitive in the hockey department.

Is there a way to turn off the stat overlay? I don't know why, but EA really pushes the "hits leaders" throughout the game. You score a goal and it's like nice goal, here's the hit leaders in the league. Almost every time. I don't think I'm alone in saying no once cares lol.

That's games overall in general now, stale and repetitive. Freaking stinks!

You’re a former big 2k guy so it’s interesting to read your frustration. Ignorance is bliss imo, because without AI pressure on the puck this series really exposes itself on the strategy side of the house. It’s completely immersion breaking. The AI pressure difference that has been present since 22 is still 100% there, I literally can’t make any game post 21 hard because at the end of the day if you understand basic ways to create time and space via puck movement, you can you put up insane TOP numbers.

So mind-numbingly easy to work the zone with a passive opponent and EA’s “fix” for this was removing the AI teammates desire to center-drive in break-ins which mucks up the zone entry plays and makes it artificially harder to get into the zone to pretend they fixed defense.

Worse AI, worse control responsiveness, super powers, arcade sound effects, it’s getting worse and worse.

The AI and responsiveness is way better this year than last IMO. It’s not amazing by any means, but with my settings this year I’ve had some more competitive games. Still dominating puck possession in a decent amount of games, but not always and nowhere near as bad as the last two years.

In 23 and 24 the game was just way too easy to do everything and on the hardest difficulty I was winning every game big so I stopped playing. This year I’m finally losing some games and certain teams are finally playing slightly different. Can be improved but to me it’s finally in the right direction.

EA hasn't cared much about the die hard hockey fan for a long time but now this and most games are about online and micro transactions and sadly that lends towards an arcade game experience.

I just did a survey for MLB the Show and almost every question was about some online gimmick crap like spending real money to buy upgrades to add to you're players or new card skins for your cards....not a single question to my recollection about anything they are doing to capture real baseball. For the record, the Show may be the best sports sim out there but they to are heading far into the online is all that matters. EA with NHL and Madden hopped that bus long ago....

Defenseman goal scoring is insane this year. I'm 30 games in and Luke Hughes has 18 tucks and Dougie Hamilton has 17.

They sure are and it’s hard to see. I played baseball but was never the biggest fan of the sport and the realism is what brought me in as a gamer. The more it lacks getting the little things right and moves towards a low effort yearly money grab, the less I play.

Re: NHL 25 Early Access and EA Play Trial Available Today - Share Your Impressions

Just some impressions - Upgraded about a week ago when the game went on sale. I had a pretty long be a pro goalie career mode in NHL 24 and had sliders in a great spot but wanted all the new goalie animations and movement and generally a bit more polish.

Have been super frustrated in the first week with this game with sliders and decided to just revert back to default superstar and not touch anything (except game speed at 2, attribute effects at 2 to combat the low overall you start with) and WOW. We found it.

I tried everything the last couple of days, lowering shot speed, playing on semi-pro, all star, superstar, etc and just could not stop letting in weak wristers and just generally terrible goals. Something with default superstar really clicks and your teammates actually defend and the AI doesn’t just spam the slot the whole game.

Have had a handful of great games now since going default, including a 32 save 2-0 shutout against Montreal and then a 3-2 loss to VGK but I stopped 42 shots including standing on my head during a 5 on 3 PK kill to keep the game within one in the third period.

This game is a general improvement over the last one and I’m having fun again after really getting slideritis the first week. Even the most mundane slider change completely flips the game and how the AI plays on its head so I’m going to steer clear of sliders and just take what default gives me.
