    No problem Qb

I just thought that what i posted would be considered an improvement if they fixed the things i listed and i dont like starting threads when it could go in another.

    Anyway its cool, sorry bud

For me, the interference is the big thing. It is so frustrating to get hit when you are nowhere near the puck. That is my main gripe.

        1. Improve Passing
        2. Add Effective Board Play
        3. Scrap and Replace The Fighting Engine
        4. Fix Awkward Shooting Animations (they're infrequent, but they're still there)
        5. Improve Penalty Calling (The "interference issue", especially)

Explanations for most of these can be found in my post in the NHL 2010 Wishlist thread, simply because I'm too lazy to elaborate after writing that novel .

1.) Fantasy Draft for Dynasty mode.

2.) Get drafted in BAP, or have the option to choose your team.

3.) Better fighting, possibly "brawls" that could correspond with some sort of actual rivalry system.

4.) Better board play, neutral zone play, AI offense and defense.

5.) A lot more depth in BAP in Dynasty, (referencing NHL 2004, and maybe implement the magazine feature, real-time dynasty score/trade ticker, interviews with players or BAP.)

Re: What 5 GAMEPLAY improvements/additions would you like to see in 2010?

            1. Better goal scoring balance / variety (including less goals short side high, less goalie flopping, a few more goals from outside and from high quality chances in the slot)
            2. Better defensive AI (including coverage in front of the net on the one-timer, CPU D standing up at the blue line more, more resistance through the neutral zone to create neutral zone play)
            3. Less pass accuracy, based on context (make pinging the puck around with blind passes less easy -- breakout will be harder)
            4. Penalty calls, call interference properly, less randomness in general on the cross-check and boarding calls.
            5. Boardplay

Mostly I'd like to see all the small annoyances fixed. Didn't mention a bunch of fixes that would specifically help EASHL, maybe we need a separate thread for that.

              1. Allow for greater goal variety.
              2. Remove the speed cheat from Super Star...yes, its there, let's be honest.
              3. Have different atmospheres. Blackhawks vs. Blues = large loud crowds. Blackhawks at Hurricanes...not so much noise. Playoff atmosphere with the Stanley Cup Playoff logo on the ice (and Finals logo)
              4. Retired Jersey Numbers and updated Stanley Cup Banners during franchise mode. The first game of the season after winning a divisional, conference or Stanley Cup championship there should be a raising of a banner ceremony.
              5. Copy 2K's idea of skating the Cup. Don't have too big of an ego to directly rip this off. It is an idea I have been asking for forever. Just steal it. Who cares!?

Goalie mode needs to be completely redone. A first person goalie mode would be great. But yeah, as it is, it's bad.

                  1. Grittier gameplay (board pinning, less precise passing/stickhandeling
                  2. Interference calls!
                  3. Less cheese goals!
                  4. Better gameplay for normal gameplay (non-be-a-pro mode)
                  5. Improved defensive AI, as well as teamate AI.

                    1) get rid of comeback AI/cpu boosts when they're down by some goals.

if EA doesn't fix this, adding board play, making the game 'grittier' won't make any difference. Because whatever you do in the game will be overwritten by the game's comeback code. Play a tight defensive game for 57 mins and have a 2-0 shutout? forget it....2 goals in the next 3 mins will come....INEXCUSABLE!!

so this HAS to be the first thing they take care of, because if they don't.....all the improvements they make will be a waste of time.

Re: What 5 GAMEPLAY improvements/additions would you like to see in 2010?

                      1. Board play. I'm not a #1 super hockey fan, but as I've been watching hockey more and more, I've noticed that there is a lot of pinning and scrumming for the puck along the boards. Perhaps there can also be a rating associated with this, as I have noticed some players are better at dislodging the puck, maybe just tie in strength and some other rating to increase the chance of dislodging the puck when poking at it with each player.

                      2. A.I in relation to going after star players, and inciting physical play
Right now when i play and get a big hit against me, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why i got demolished, other then the sake of being hit, I would like for the a.I to specifically target certain players, perhaps.

For example I've scored a couple goals with Marleau, and now the CPU team is being a little more Physical with him, playing him a little tighter, perhaps an enforcer tries to really take him out...This can also play out in franchise with a bit more behind it (if you see where im going)... suggest this because often times After a big hit, i find msyelf waiting until that guy who crushed me gets back on the ice so i can get some revenge, and i tihnk that should be played up a bit more (but not over the top)
Also some teams are really a lot more physical then others, but in the game i can barely tell. and i dont mean I want to see big over the top hits, but riding, nudging, bumping, physical play along the boards, etc would all be welcome.

Composure I was watching the Sharks game the other night it was 7-1 then the other team lost composure and started causing penalties and becoming very physical...perhaps a composure rating and cause + effect could be implemented as well.

                      3. Crowd atmosphere Every game seems the same, I knwo there are rivalries in the NHL more so then any sport, and I would liek to feel like im in the middle of a warzone when playing at an opposing arena.

                      4. Pass Accuracy Slider Since ive been watching I've noticed mroe and more players intentionally passing the puck off the boards, or to a spot with a little less zip on it to LEAD a player, Right now in NHL 09 this is impossible because the puck goes directly to the stick of the guy youre aiming towards, i would liek to be able to play angles on the boards, to take advantage of perhaps good/bad defense, or lack of a direct passing angle.

I only have four "game play" suggestions, and i know most have already been said.

Give me about a year with this game, and the rest of this season watching some hockey games and i will be able to come up with some cool stuff hopefully.

While adding an option for manual passing and a slider for pass accuracy are absolutely needed for 2010, there is a work-around method to perfrom bank passes off of the boards:

Pull back on the right-stick as if you're going to take a slapper -- it doesn't have to be a full wind-up, just a slight movement will work -- and press R-trigger (R2 for PS3ers) along with the direction you want to pass. Voila!

I use it a fair amount in EASHL play to send a banked breakout pass to my teammates. You can also use it to just put the puck into space or your opponent's zone somewhat quickly (with practice) when no one is open for a pass, as well as going D-to-D behind the net off the boards (you probably see this a lot too when watching NHL games). The only downside is that you do need that split-second to initiate the wind-up, but with practice you can get a subtle enough touch on the R-stick that it barely takes longer than a normal pass.

I just want to see obvious things fixed. Passing problems (show me an indicator of which player I'm going to pass to if I hit the button, for example) are the biggest issue besides glitch goals.

Two differently-shaded yellow color indicators for online play? Are you kidding me?

The obvious stuff is what I want fixed.. no new additions.

a very simple addition i'd like to see is to the be a pro. Let me skate around in the pregame skate and shoot around or something. Let me control my guy when he comes out of the locker room before each period instead of the canned one of his circle once, then stop in front of the goalie, etc...

make me feel more immersed in it please

I would really like to see fatigue measured and affect cpu controlled teams more equally.

The passing has already been touched on plenty so no need to add anything there.

I also think that the lift stick is a bit over the top, it should be reworked into a context sensitive "stick check" button. For instance, if you are in a position to lift the stick when you press the button, that will happen, but if you are at an awkward angle pressing the button might make your player use his stick to simply strike or tie up the other player's stick.

Thanks, I've never thought of using that.

Not sure if this is a documented control or one the is known to everyone already, but you can also get a slap shot that isn't targeted the net by holding LB while doing the slap shot on the R-stick. Good for ringing the puck low around the boards. Lots of other uses for it too like slap passes for deflections; deliberate shot wide of the net to get the bounce off the low-boards kickplate and back in front...
