Blues Reclaim 1st Spot In West With OT Win In Anaheim

One point separates the 1-4th seeds in the Western Conference, and sitting atop the pile are the St. Louis Blues with 74 points.

The Blues would rally to a 2-1 OT win against the Anaheim Ducks when Barret Jackman would score his 1st goal of the season late in the 3rd period. The Blues defensmen would tally on a rare breakaway just moments after a disallowed Ducks goal would deny Anaheim a 2-0 lead with just 6 minutes remaining in regulation.

Alex Steen would win the game for the Blues in OT with his 11th goal of the season as Jaroslav's league leading GAA drops to 2.19. He is currently 2nd in the NHL with a .915 save percentage.

The Blues are 34-18-6 on the season.

Looks like the Habs traded away a Vezina winner.

        Let's see...

I was let go from Phoenix after 3 seasons, making the playoffs only once. Then I signed with Dallas. Missed the playoffs the first year, then won the Stanley Cup 5 times in a row. Going onto my 7th season as Stars GM now.

I currently managed my cap to have the likes of JVR, James Neal (90 overall), Jamie Benn (91 overall), Loui (86 overall), Semyon Varlamov (94 overall), and Claude Giroux (89 overall) as well as a few prospects and some defenceman with the last name Silas (93 overall and still B potential)

For earlier Cup runs, I've had Mike Green (had him for a few season then traded him for the Silas dude to relieve cap space), Andrei Markov, Brad Richards (I traded him then signed him as a FA for 750k), and Vincent Lecavalier (signed for 850k).

Varlamov has won Vezina 5 times in a row, Jennings twice, Hart 4 times, and Conn Smythe all 5 times in a row too. I've gotten the President's Trophy only twice though... hard to believe I think lol He's also had 5 40+ win seasons, with 3 of them being 50 or better wins.

10 years and still runnin' strong

Parise Tallies Hat Trick In Route Of Hawks

Zach Parise, traded for Erik Johnson and a 1st round pick, tallied his 19th, 20th, and 21st goals of the season in a 6-3 route of Chicago.

"It feels great to have such a great game. It seemed like every time I looked up the puck was on my stick", said Parise who now has 17 goals in 40 games as a Blue.

The Blues are now 2nd in the West with 76 points, two points behind the Western Conference leading San Jose Sharks.

I am in my third season with the Pens. I have completly redone the farm system with a ton of snipers and playmakers. I kept the centers, but the wingers are all prospects. I also have some young defensemen coming up. Finally, I have a goalie prospect with a B - B+ overall potential, and he is about two years away from dominating the league.

As a side note, has anyone seen a 100+ point scorer? I have only seen Gaborik break the 100 point mark once, and Crosby came the closest on my team with 95 points. They both reached the mark in year one and last year the scoring leader had about 90 and Crosby led my team with 85.

              Nice!
I just played a few games, then simmed up to where the Blues were in the real season. When they got to the Avs game from a few weeks ago, their record was 19-22-7. So, to get anywhere close to the playoffs i've had to rally.
We went on a 5 game win-streak, then had a comeback from 3-0 in the 3rd snapped when Gagne deked through traffic and ripped a wrister over Halak with under 5 in the 3rd to make it 4-3.
But, then the Blues tallied 6 more wins in a row to jump up to 7th in the Western.
Now we just need to hold momentum through the next few months and stay in the playoffs.
(Oddly, everyone in the Central seems to be having a rough year. I think only Detroit is in the Playoff picture as well, with Chicago sitting well below me in standings.)

                Re: BAGM Progress Thread

Been a wierd year for me as far as playing video games. I'm going back and forth and finally started playing some NCAA 11 alongside NHL11 at this particular time.

First start in BAGM in NHL 11, I'm playing with my local team the Atlanta Thrashers with the latest Roster Update and TKN's sliders. These are the first games other than online teamplay that I've played :

                So far I'm 1-1-1
I beat the Caps 3-1 (after getting pounded about 9-1 in preseason)
Lost to the Lightning 7-2, it was 6-0 in the 1st, I pulled Mason

Lost 5-4 to the Kings in OT : Antropov had two scores and I went up 3-0 after the first period. Second period I went up 4-0 and they scored immediately after my 4th to make it 4-1. About 5 minutes left in the game they started their charge and scored the tieing goal with about a minute and a half left. About two minutes in overtime, they end it.

Still scratching my head How I let them get back in the game and bulldoze me - but hey, pretty much like the real thrashers : Can't beat the Lightning and end up self destructing late in other games.

                  C. Price, 89 OVR

                  C. Schneider, 82 OVR

The team still has a ton of potential, many with A's and B's. Seguin still has A potential in both offense and defense, with A- in athletiscism. Obviously not going for realism here, just thought it'd be fun to draft a real young team and watch them progress. Kind of feel another Oilers dynasty here, just like the days of Gretz and Messier etc. Feel free to ask any questions, I've been enjoying reading everyones updates!

Just passed the All-Star Break with the Leafs.

Kessel is leading the league in goals with 34 at the break and he doesn't make the Eastern All Star team. Totally snubbed.

                      Re: BAGM Progress Thread

I re-restarted my Leafs be a gm. I'm going to convert Grabovski to a winger, since really, he is one. I also traded Nikolai Kulemin to Buffalo for Zach Kassian. I realize I should've gotten more, like Marcus Foligno, but the CPU is FREAKING IMPOSSIBLE TO TRADE WITH. I have Bozak at 1st line center, really looking to upgrade that. Maybe Cody Hodgson, I'd love Eberle, but Edmonton is terrible to trade with. I traded Kaberle for Ryan Ellis, he's beast, lol! I'm obviously trying to get rid of Komi, Jiggy, and Beauchmin. Also, after the first season, Gunnarson has insane trade vaue, I think. He's actually terrible, at least IRL, in my opinion. I play every game, All Star custom, thinking of bumping it to Superstar. Thoughts on anything?

Played two more games in the past few days...

Topped Anaheim 4-3 in a gutsy effort headlined by Chris Kunitz's two goals against his former team. Brent Johnson got the win, as Fleury was rested in the first game of back-to-back road games.

In Phoenix the next night and the desert was not kind to the Penguins, losing 4-1. Only a late goal by Jordan Staal avoided a shutout in what was probably the Pens' worst effort of the season. Phoenix came out flying and after a few first period penalties, they held a 2-0 lead with an overwhelming shot advantage (something like 20-6). The Pens did manage to close the gap in shots, however Ilya Bryzgalov was on top of his game and stifled the few quality chances they had.

After returning to Pittsburgh for three off days before a Wednesday night tilt with the Boston Bruins, Coach Dan Bylsma announced that Sidney Crosby returned to practice. He would not confirm that Crosby would be in the lineup versus Boston. If Crosby does not play Wednesday, his next chance to return would be in another Friday/Saturday back-to-back scenario.

I need to step my game up. I've been so engrossed in NBA 2K11 that it's been hard to carve out time for NHL 11 lately.

It's understandable. I haven't been playing much NHL the last couple days because of MLB2k10. The Presentation is just so amazing in the 2k series.
