    Re: BAGM Progress Thread

    Playoff Update:
My Blues met the Kings in round two of the Western Conference playoffs. We took game 1 at home, but then lost games 2-4. Needing to win, we battled in game 5 to crush them 6-3. Then in game 6 we came back from a 2-0 deficit to start the 2nd and won 4-3. Then game 7 was a real nail biter. After going down 2-1 to start the 2nd, we made it 3-2 before the 2nd ended. Then to start the 3rd the Blues made it 4-2. With a healthy lead, we switched to defense. But Kopitar would catch the defense on a sloppy line change, and get a breakaway goal as Halak dove but couldn't glove the puck. Struggling to hold a 4-3 lead, we made it to the last minute and a half. Then steen, who had 2 goals in the game, took a slashing penalty. Back in our own zone, the Kings pulled their goalie. With just under a minute left, Johnson fired it from the point, and Williams deflected the puck under Halaks pads. Now it was tied at 4 a piece with only 53 seconds left.
The Blues won the faceoff, and skated into the Kings' zone. We set up and passed the puck around hoping for an open lane. Skating from the right point towards the middle, Barret Jackman fired a puck that just caught the inside of the left post right over Quick's shoulder, and bounced straight across to hit the right post before finally coming to a rest just over the line.
With about 30 seconds left, we won the next faceoff and held the puck, then dumped it into the Kings' zone to end the game, and win game 7.
Now, the battle is against a fitting rival. After avenging the first round exit of 2 seasons ago to the Canucks, and fighting through 7 games with the Kings, The Blues look to take on Toews and company in a central division rivalry series that is sure to be good, and a hard fight for both teams.
Only one team's coming out the Western Conference champs. Hopefully it's my Blues.

Injuries: We just got Radulov back from an upper body injury, and Sabotka came back in game 6 with the kings to score a goal and notch an assist after being out since game 4 at Vancouver when he took a slapshot to the head laying down to block a shot.

      Re: BAGM Progress Thread

Have dropped to 18-6-3 on the season with the Wild. I'm just coming off a disappointing stretch that saw me go 1-1-1 on a West Coast swing. The record itself isn't terrible, but in my two losses I gave up two goal leads. I've been giving up a lot of hat-tricks and letting one opposing player dominate games. I gave up a hatty to Jovanovski and another hat-trick to Dustin Brown in the very next game. It hasn't helped that the offense seems to have cooled off a bit.

I'm definitely suffering from some injury woes too. Miettinen, Barker, and Bouchard are all out for multiple weeks, and it's really challenging my club's depth. I'm actually surprised how much my second D pairing and PP are struggling in Barker's absence.

I'm just going to have to tough through this rough stretch I guess. One positive is that the first line continues to be excellent. Koivu has been a beast, putting up 17 goals, and Marty Havlat has come back from his injury to be my most dangerous offensive player. Overall, the first line of Brunette-Koivu-Havlat has each player scoring at a ppg rate. Just need to recapture that level of polish running the attacking trap from earlier in the season and get healthy.

        Gut check time.....

About to play the final week of my season as the Lightning (Remade into the Cleveland Renegades)

As I stand now, I'm in 9th place in the East, and Toronto is #8.

I need to try to leapfrog them to get a playoff spot, with 6 games to go. I snapped a 4-game losing streak when I beat Columbus 3-2. Next up is in Pittsburgh.

I'm actually feeling nervous now each game I play, knowing what's on the line.........

To quote McDonald's------- "I'm lovin it!!!!"

Just started my Boston Bruins dynasty (lol I'm a Habs fan too, :P )

Currently sitting at 1-1-1 in the first season. I have some room to work with my sliders. Lost our last game to New Jersey 3-2 overtime thriller. Game went back and forth, and I got lots of huge hits in, though there were no injuries. I've signed Demitra to give some more offensive support, and Chara is leading the team in hits, although he has yet to record a point. Tim Thomas is playing decently.

Now gonna have back to back games against the Washington Capitals. Loving NHL 11 :d

also, why is my picture thing the ** Rays fan ***? Didn't even try to make it that...

            Re: BAGM Progress Thread

Update. My Bruins haven't been doing well, we're 5-7-1 and tied for 15th in the East with 11 points. But most of the teams also have a few games in hand over me, but it's still been a disappointing start.

I gave the Leafs their first round pick back and a prospect for Thomas Kaberle, who is leading the team in points. I've also made trades to get Pavelski from San Jose, although I forget what the trade was. I also claimed Brian Elliot and Carkner off waivers from Ottawa, right after we thrashed them in a big 7-3 win.

Chara has had no discipline and he got kicked out of 3 games straight and leads the team with 74 penalty minutes. But he's found his stride and has only taken... questionable penalties. He's only a goal and an assist so far, so I need him to hit his stride, although he is doing wonders defensively, so I guess that's what matters.

              Hello All,

I'm a newbie to this forum. In year 2022 with the Flyers. I mainly build through the draft and try to sign the best picks to long term deals after their rookie contract expires but before they are in the 80s for overall rating- that way you can get more bang for the buck. My question... when do the three year rookie deals start counting? Is it just when they first suit up for the big club? Or is it while they are playing in the AHL or major juniors? I have guys drafted in the same year, signed to the same contracts, who have different amounts of time left on the deals. When the deal expires and they're ranked 80+ they want 6 million or more per year. When the deal expires and they are 70-79 they will take 8 years at 1.5 million per. Any help on how these deals are counted down?

                Re: BAGM Progress Thread

Just came from an important game against New Jersey. It was really stressful, which is sad I know, but I need wins now before I need to make a huge playoff rush at the end of the season, and I want to live up to the 39 game wins given to me to keep the owner happy.

I know I could just down the difficulty a bit, but that would take all the fun out of these games. Currently 7 points out of eighth, but it's still early, so who knows what'll happen.

Anyways, I'm winning 2-1, early first period, and they get a 5 on 3. I kill off the first penalty, but the capitalized at the end. The game stayed tied and it ended up going to overtime. Right before the end of the third period I got an elbowing penalty!!! I just barely killed it off, Rask was playing brilliantly, and I managed to get a breakaway and scored! Now I'm sitting at 6-8-1.

Dang. My playoff hopes just got dashed I think.....

Lost to Pitt 3-1. Slipped to tenth in the standings from ninth. Now trailing Toronto and Montreal for the eighth and final playoff spot.

                  Record is now 37-34-5. Bah.

Looking to end the season and start rebuilding for 2011.....(NHL 10 BTW)

We know it's NHL 10 man. Doesn't really matter that much.

Currently rose to 13th in the East. Last 3 games have been 1-1-1, but Rask is starting to settle down. My last game (which I played before I got up) was a 5-2 almost must win against Florida, since if they beat they would be 3 points ahead of me. Now I'm currently 3 points out of 8th, but still a long way out 1st, and sadly for me, I'm in probably the hardest division in the East, with them having the 1st and 4th teams (only because of the whole 1st division top 3 thing), with them being Buffalo and Montreal respectively. The good thing is, if I manage to get into the playoffs and play Montreal, I'll probably win, since when we played, they were out shot 28-17, but it was still a 3-2 game. But I think my intimidation factor would kick in.

                      Re: BAGM Progress Thread

After winning the Stanley Cup in 4 against Ottawa, my Blues spent the summer getting ready to defend the cup.
The Blues kept most of the faces from the year before, save for the bigger enforcers like Janssen and others. Ryan Reaves was kept in the AHL to come up if someone besides Crombeen was needed to fill the physical void left by Cam.
                      My lines look like this
                      Perron-McDonald-Radulov
                      Stewart-Backes-Steen
Oshie-Berglund-Knuble (Picked up off free agency)
Sabotka-Betts-D'agostini (The 4th line has Crombeen alternating in for games against rivals where i may need to drop the gloves if things get out of hand)

                      Defense
                      Pietrangelo-Byufligen
                      Johanson-Cole
                      Polak-Colaiacovo

I picked up Johanson from Washington in exchange for someone i can't remember now, i want to get a young fast defensive core, while keeping Pietrangelo, Polak, and Big Buff to be my solid d, and hard hitting. The plus side is, all 3 can also score. So i have 6 scoring d men, and all of them save for Shattenkirk who's in the AHL currently can lay out hits.

I have Halak starting, and he's rotating pretty frequently with Gustavsson after a rough start.

My Blues lost the first game in a shootout, then won their next one, only to have Halak take loses in the next 2 games. Gustavsson opened in Chicago for a game that would turn the team's luck around, as the Blues downed Chicago 7-0 to hand Chicago their 6th consecutive loss to open the season.
The Blues then went on to win their next 6 putting them at 8-2-1 going into the first few weeks of the season.

Also, after hearing of the passing of Jaden Schwartz's sister Mandi's passing after battling with cancer, the Blues decided to help honor a fallen team mate (even though i can't get him in the game ) by taping their sticks with pink tape. Halak and Gustavsson, not to be out done, got pink goal sticks, and Halak even custom ordered a pink version of his normal equipment. The team will donate a percentage of every home game to cancer research.

                        Re: BAGM Progress Thread

Alright well here it goes. I've started a fantasy draft with the Toronto Maple Leaf's, I think my pick was right in the middle in the 12-15 range, so I didn't get a shot at Crosby, Malkin, Miller, etc...(intentionally done). I am really trying to play every game in the season, I tend to get a little sim happy and just blow through seasons because I enjoy the offseason quite a bit. Anyways, year started out on a tear with a 9-1-0 record through October. Since then we've gone 6-2-1, so still not bad at all. We've faced some adversity with injuries to start the year.

                        1. D - Erik Karlsson, Missed 13 Games from 10/18-11/20 with a broken hand suffered in a fight. His production is down, and he may be rotating in and out of the line-up with D - Ryan Wilson

                        2. C - Joe Thornton, 11/2 Will miss 6 weeks with a broken leg suffered blocking a shot. Since losing Captain Joe we're 4-2-1, so still plugging along. Prior to his injury he lead the team with 10g/9a/19pts in his 11gp.

                        3. C - Logan Couture, 11/10 Will miss 10 weeks with post concussion symptoms, really hoping he can come back, as our #2 center he had picked up 5g/13a/18pts in his 15gp.

To cope with losing our #1 and #2 center I signed C - Doug Weight from the FA pool for a 1y/$500k salary. In his 7gp he has just 3a, so he maybe shuffled down. Also signed C - Scott Nichol from the FA pool. His first game will be on 11/22 against the Dallas Stars at home.

Also G - Brian Boucher has begun to emerge as a force, in his 4gp he is 4-0 with a 1.26GAA/95.1%sv% and 2 SO's. If he keeps it up he may get more time over G - Carey Price.

Lines for 11/22 game against Dallas

The Boston Bruins have gone through a majour turn around, with 2 days until the trade deadline we sit at second in the Eastern Conference, one point out of first. We are 34-20-5 (or something like that) and I have had to change my sliders to personal super star ones, that I am still experimenting with with difficulty.

I am confident we will make a decent playoff run of up to at least the conference finals if we keep playing like this. I am hoping for a contract renewal with the Boston Bruins

                            Re: BAGM Progress Thread

Still going strong with my Wild BaGM and having a blast.

I managed to rally from injuries and general poor play to have a post-All Star break surge. Phoenix had a bit of a collapse after leading the West by a solid margin all year, and I was able to grab the top spot in the conference as a result.

I made some adjustments around the trade deadline. Shipping out a woeful Greg Zanon and Brad Staubitz to Chicago for Ivan Vishnevski to give me a 6-7 guy with some puck moving ability and youth. My only other move was a big one —adding Johan Franzen at the deadline. He had been on the trade block all year on a non-playoff Detroit team. They seemed to want to get rid of his contract and I was in desperate need of some size in my top six with Koivu out and Latendresse playing his way onto the bench. Only took Tyler Cuma and a third to get him. I was ok with losing Cuma since I'm already pretty young and established on the blueline with some good d prospects already in the organization.

Finished the season 49-26-7 for 105pts and two points ahead of second place San Jose.

Mikko Koivu led the team in scoring with 71 pts in 74 games. He managed to net 41 goals, but his production really tailed off after his injury. I did have seven 20 goal scorers though, which was a real positive. Koivu (41), Havlat (34), Clutterbuck (24), Franzen (23), Bouchard (21), Brunette (20), and Cullen (20) all potted 20 or more.

Had a hell of a battle with L.A. in the first round of the playoffs. Really felt like they outplayed me, but I managed to rally from a two goal deficit in the third period to oust them in seven games.

Second round took care of Vancouver in six —the six games flatters them a little bit as I had a much easier time controlling the play than in the L.A. series. My two losses were really a case of me shelling it too early after getting a lea. In game six in Vancouver I made sure I didn't let off the gas after getting another early lead, and ended up winning easily 6-1.

Just about to start the third round against San Jose now. It's the run of the mill 1 vs. 2 battle. Meanwhile, in the East, the Conf. Finals matchup is a bizarre one; five seed Florida vs. seven seed Toronto.

One last thing. Even though Franzen was pretty mediocre for me in the regular season, he's been putting together a Conn Smythe-type campaign in the playoffs. He's second leading scorer behind Ryan Kesler, and now Kesler's out.

Just posting to let you all know my Senators Dynasty is alive and well. I'm midway through my 2nd year of rebuilding. I'm just hanging on to 8th spot in the East and we on the midst of a 5 game losing streak. Much like the Caps faced adversity earlier this season, the Sens are under the gun to pull off a win.

As an added bonus, I recreated the National teams for the top 8 world junior countries and will be reporting on the tournament in the next couple of updates. Team Canada seems posed to win it all on their home soil this year.

New to this forum, found some sliders on here that are really working for me, and it's 1000% more fun now.

Started a new BaGM with columbus, 2-6 so far. Gave up a 2-goal lead in SJ to start the season with a 3-2 loss, then got dominated at home 8-2 by the sharks. Nash got injured that game too. Had a back-and-forth 6-4 loss to Chicago where they scored 2 in the final minute (1 en). Next game against the wild, I led 1-0 going into the third, but some defensive miscues led to them scoring 3 quick ones early in the third, and I lost 4-1.

Finally picked up my first win against Anaheim, another intense back-and-forth shootout of a game, where I clutched it in the last minute to win 4-3. Beat Calgary the next game too, despite giving up a 5-on-3 PP in the last 5 minutes, I held on to a 3-2 lead. Nash came back for my next game against Chicago. I battled back from being down 3-0 to bring it to 3-2 in the last few minutes. Gave up an empty netter to lose 4-2. Lost to Philly again the next game, trailed 3-2 all game, but Leighton shut me down after 2 shaky goals (weak backhander from the side boards, pass from behind the net hit his stick and went in).

I added Campoli from Ottawa for Dorsett and a 2nd, as my D was really lacking in puck-moving ability. We'll see how that turns out, but Dorsett wasn't really missed when he got injured for a few games.

So much more fun than winning every game 9-1 on Pro lol.
