Playoff Update:
My Blues met the Kings in round two of the Western Conference playoffs. We took game 1 at home, but then lost games 2-4. Needing to win, we battled in game 5 to crush them 6-3. Then in game 6 we came back from a 2-0 deficit to start the 2nd and won 4-3. Then game 7 was a real nail biter. After going down 2-1 to start the 2nd, we made it 3-2 before the 2nd ended. Then to start the 3rd the Blues made it 4-2. With a healthy lead, we switched to defense. But Kopitar would catch the defense on a sloppy line change, and get a breakaway goal as Halak dove but couldn't glove the puck. Struggling to hold a 4-3 lead, we made it to the last minute and a half. Then steen, who had 2 goals in the game, took a slashing penalty. Back in our own zone, the Kings pulled their goalie. With just under a minute left, Johnson fired it from the point, and Williams deflected the puck under Halaks pads. Now it was tied at 4 a piece with only 53 seconds left.
The Blues won the faceoff, and skated into the Kings' zone. We set up and passed the puck around hoping for an open lane. Skating from the right point towards the middle, Barret Jackman fired a puck that just caught the inside of the left post right over Quick's shoulder, and bounced straight across to hit the right post before finally coming to a rest just over the line.
With about 30 seconds left, we won the next faceoff and held the puck, then dumped it into the Kings' zone to end the game, and win game 7.
Now, the battle is against a fitting rival. After avenging the first round exit of 2 seasons ago to the Canucks, and fighting through 7 games with the Kings, The Blues look to take on Toews and company in a central division rivalry series that is sure to be good, and a hard fight for both teams.
Only one team's coming out the Western Conference champs. Hopefully it's my Blues.
Injuries: We just got Radulov back from an upper body injury, and Sabotka came back in game 6 with the kings to score a goal and notch an assist after being out since game 4 at Vancouver when he took a slapshot to the head laying down to block a shot.
