Here's my quick and dirty program to repack the SYS-DATA file for PS3. You'll still need to run bruteforce save data and offzip to get the DB and make your changes. Once done run my tool and it'll repack the file and save it as SYS-DATA in the directory. Copy that back to the unencrypted save folder and re-encrypt it. I was having a hell of a time finding code to calc the BZIP2 CRC so I just used the command line tool of file verifier.

Maybe someone can answer a few really stupid questions for me to see if I can get anywhere with this.

After I plug my USB, containing my PS3 roster, into the computer what is my very first step?

Do I have to follow those steps concerning XTAF and MODIO or was that only for Xbox users? If not, I am jumping straight to offzip (I think...). Is there a location I should save my rosters to that will make filling in the [brackets] in the following easier:

run "offzip -a [Roster File] [directory to extract to] 0"

Can someone throw up the links for everything we will need to get this working... especially any specific to the xbox?
Ive gotten packzip so far but I cant find the link for the generic ea db editor, could have sworn I read this entire thread twice....LOL
i think we will need offzip too correct?
        what else? whiskey?

The very first step is extracting your roster off the flash drive, usbxtaf is good for that.....

Being an English major and trying to understand all this coding and computer jargon is making me NEED a whiskey.

Download and run bruteforce save data and copy your save into the directory. Decrypt the save, then run offzip on the SYS-DATA file. You can get bruteforce to do this automatically by double clicking SYS-DATA after it's decrypted and looking in ~extracted folder. The file should have a .dat extension and be about 2Mb. Copy that file and change the file extension to .DB and open it with generic EA DB viewer. And as always, make sure your making a backup of any save files.

Thank you. That's a lot closer to my language. Unfortunately, I got an error when I tried to open sys-data.db in the editor that said it was not a database or mc-02 file. I probably didn't decrypt it properly or something. I'll try again. I'm not sure if I'm decrypting my save correctly.

I get this error whenever I try to run bruteforce:

I think I'm going to have to give up. I just can't get all of this computer stuff. All I really want to do is play NHL 14 but EA did such a horrific job this year that I have yet to play a single game in any mode other than Play Now, despite buying it on release day. I just sit and work on my rosters for a couple of hours each night, then play one or two quick Play Now matches between team's I've already completed. With a tool like an editor, I could use the groundwork EA laid to make an actually enjoyable and realistic hockey experience, but I'm far too computer illiterate to navigate through all this apparently. I'll hang tight until Artem comes up with something, I hope.

For those of you who ARE successfully getting this thing to work, I'm sure you all have real lives and much better things to do, but I cannot explain to you how desperate I am for a (much) better and more complete roster than the ones EA has provided. Hopefully someone much better with all of this stuff comes up with a good preliminary roster soon.

For anyone who hasnt figured it out yet, dXSB in the ubPc tab refers to the team that the player is on. The number corresponds to the Team ID listed under the vfEq column on the kOtt tab(whatever that number is +1). Im sure this will make it easier to move players around without having to worry about trades or the slow menus on the console.

I had the same problem trying to get bruteforce to work.

                      you will need this:

I just put it in the folder with bruteforce and it worked fine....

Hey thanks, that worked. What do I do when it asks me to set up a user ID and console ID? It's probably not even worth answering; I'm just going to get stuck at the next step after that. I have no idea what to do with this thing, now that it's open.

I have a question. Using Bruteforce, I have decrypted the SYS-DATA file and then and then double clicked the SYS-DATA in the lower left corner of Bruteforce. Can someone please tell me where to find the ~extracted folder, in which I can find the .dat extension file? I would really apprecieate that. Thank you.

Same folder where the SYS-DATA is located. Another thing I should note is it's a good idea to run BSD as admin if your on Vista/Win7 etc. By the way, I added the option to extract the db with my tool (will release later).

Thanks Dpyro for all you are doing and answering. I am gettig a response in the editor stating that the file is not a DB or MC02 file. The following is a quick rundown of what I am doing.Perhaps someone could help me from there.

                                1) Transfer roster file from PS3 to CPU on USB.
                                2) Open Bruteforceand click Decrypt PDF. It then asks do I want to de crypt SYS-DATA? I click yes.
                                3) Double click on SYS-DATA file (on left side) to open and save data in HEX Editor.
                                4) Chose folder to save in and save as SYS-DATA (I do not get a .dat file extension when doing this though), then go to the folder and rename the file from SYS-DATA to SYS-DATA.DB.
                                6) Open ED DB editor and load config generated.xml (by Dpyro)
                                7) Attempt to open the SYS-DATA.DB file I just created and get "file is not a DB or MC02 file" error.

Can someone please tell me what I am missing. I did try running Bruetforce as the adm. as recomended by Pyro.

Any hep will be greatly appreciated.

                                Thank you!!
