Re: ESPN NHL 2K5 (Xbox) 2018-19 Roster Development Thread
I've made a discovery, remember when it was discovered created teams crash franchise mode even on default rosters?
Well, it turns out you can play regular season mode as a created team with no crashes. so I will add that as a disclaimer if we ever reach a point where we have stable rosters.Fandom:

Re: ESPN NHL 2K5 (Xbox) 2018-19 Roster Development Thread
Development Update: I have shifted work of the rosters to Xbox 360 because I get better video quality out of the console, 2K5 seems to run fine with very limited graphical issues (stuff that I barely notice considering I spend most of my time in the menus anyway) I lost no progress in the transition as everything I was working on with the original Xbox was brought over to 360 via Xplorer 360. This should be no cause for concern for original Xbox players as it will still work on both consoles regardless.
I have created, rated and verified information of 113 skaters in my free time so far, mostly focusing on the big names of the league. No timetable on finishing it but I'm basically giving a confirmation that work hasn't ceased.Fandom:

Re: ESPN NHL 2K5 (Xbox) 2018-19 Roster Development Thread
March 2020 Development Update: Sadly my consoles haven't been with me for a month or so because of problems in my home life. Before then I had continued to sporadically work on rosters and fine tune attributes. With this NHL season potentially being lost I wish I had the game here with me to tinker with.
Another thing strongly on my mind is I want a version of these rosters to be available for the PS2. The biggest road block in that is how I can't remove player photos. But I want 2K5 to be available in an updated form on both platforms because it's simply a legendary game and nobody should be left behind because of console preference.
If we ever reach a point where these can be released I will contact Steve_OS again to get the thread title renamed again. Maybe even without the year included so it doesn't need to keep being changed.
So yeah, my enthusiasm when it comes to 2K5 has not gotten weaker in fact it's gotten stronger.Fandom:

So glad to hear news from you. And I know a bit about your situation so I didn't wanna pry. Like I said, life first then gaming. But I totally agree that PS2/XBOX needs attention as well for games particularly NHL2K5.Comment

Re: ESPN NHL 2K5 (Xbox) 2018-19 Roster Development Thread
So uh, that recent bit of news that came out has some pretty big incentives for us. It is looking like original Xbox Live is being restored through a 3rd party. ESPN NHL 2K5 did not use proprietary servers it used Microsoft's. So online play may be available very soon for ESPN NHL 2K5 and many other classic sports games we love. I wonder.....2K5 has options for custom leagues online....add in my modern rosters and we could have a heck of a time! Let's wait and see how this pans out...Fandom:

Re: ESPN NHL 2K5 (Xbox) 2018-19 Roster Development Thread
I got my Xbox 360 back a month and a half or so ago and progress has been smooth. Anaheim and Winnipeg have enough current skaters to be in a playable state and work is moving right along on Boston. I am potentially aiming for these to be ready for the 2020-21 season or perhaps the trade deadline of that season if progress goes well and I get my life back in order.
More good news is that gameplay feels fantastic. I feel as if I have found my formula rating players and how they work in-game. Very comfortable and feels way better than using that EA spreadsheet with the 2018 set I finished.Last edited by WWEDX2007; 06-21-2020, 09:32 PM.Fandom:
